I agree with everything Xiro said.Asking why a Sag is blunt is like asking why a Cancer is emotional; we just are! lol I honestly don't even notice when I'm being blunt! It's really strange! I only notice by observing people's reactions to what I say. It takes me by surprise when people tell me I'm blunt... I have an Aries moon lol but my Mercury is in Cap. We're a fire sign because we are physical, passionate people. We're quite proud, independent, and action-oriented. We are very adventurous and have fiery temperaments! (in GENERAL) IP: Logged |

I hated it because she kept sharing this with me without my asking. Whenever I spoke of him or needed advice on our relationship, it was as if she couldn't get past the fact that he was ugly...OKAY MOMMY I GET IT. I'm a Capricorn Mercury and we're honest and straight up, but only when asked. I think Sagittarius has tunnel vision, really.
Simply put from your mom's perspective, an ugly boyfriend was an obstruction for you. She believed you could do better and by not embracing your right to pretty boyfriends, you were repeatedly subjecting yourself to the oppression of having an ugly boyfriend. Perhaps in her mind she felt you could find an emotionally and intellectually fulfilling boyfriend who was ALSO attractive (which in its self is a relative term). Nobody said every Sagittarian's logic is sane. Sane or not, the desire to elevate still exists. This happens in all signs: Aries is about cherishing the self, yet some are so determined to prove their self worthy of being cherished, they place their self in danger. Taurus loves pleasure, yet some will fixate on certain pleasures well past their own physical discomfort. Gemini thrives on communication, yet some will harm those they communicate with just to make the conversation more interesting. Cancer wants to nurture, but the fear of others leaving can cause some to emotionally hobble the people they care for, leaving them perpetually dependent. From an archetypal stand point each sign is pure and direct, but people are like radios. Due to environment, manufacturing issues, poor reception, etc.. the way we pick up the wavelength can be warped, filled with static, and difficult to make any sense of. IP: Logged |

I'm really surprised there isn't an annoying gemini thread, we're SOOOOO annoying sometimes. I guess people like too much to complain..Anyway op your mother does care otherwise she would'nt even say anything. Think about this from her perspective, maybe she's scared you would want to settle down with him and knows you can do better. Maybe she wants pretty grandchildren ahahaha :P

Sooo true, in life nothing has gotten me into more trouble than the no filter aspect of my nature. The thing with us Saggies is just not take it to personal as it normally is just a momentary thought that kind of vomits out

i have 3 planets in sagittarius including mars so i really connect with this sign and also majorly have foot in mouth disease. There was so many people who perfectly pinpointed what I wanted to express that there doesn't feel like there's any need for it. I think this would be the best thread for somebody to read if they wanted to understand sagittarians.I have an aquarius mercury in retrograde so it's obviously different, but maaybe some sagittarius mercurys feel the same way: sometimes i process what i'm going to say AS i'm saying it. This often ends up with things not always coming out the way I intended them to sound and I can often unintentionally hurt people that way. IP: Logged |

I think this is a pretty good thread about Sagittarians. I've got several Sagittarius planets, so despite my best Virgoan Sun/Mercury efforts to filter, a Sagittarian type statement slips out every now and then. However, I am nowhere NEAR as bad as most of the Sagittarian Sun/Mercuries that I know. Earlier this week I was taking a lesson from my Sagittarian dance instructor, and he said to me, completely from out of the blue: "You know, my greatest fault as a teacher is that I tend to baby my girls (students)." I just looked at him and didn't say anything, but I felt slightly insulted, because I was then thinking that he was dumbing down the routine for me. He's a smart Sagittarian, because he at least TRIED to take blame for it himself, but it still came off as insulting (true or not). The unfortunate part is that I actually feel like he's a really good instructor because he doesn't act like most dance instructors who bark at you like they are drill sergeants. My introverted/Virgoan nature doesn't like being yelled at and having my space invaded. True enough, he actually DID act like a stereotypical dance instructor for my first lesson, but I think he realized very quickly that all it did was stress me out and cause me to push back, so the next time he slowed down (that was all I wanted him to do). *I* don't see it as 'babying' but I could see how his super extroverted Sagittarian manner would want to push harder and faster, so he probably really thinks that he is *babying* me. Yeah their honesty make them blunt(maybe more on day to day topics), but i noticed saggys can be very very sttuborn too(be it for good or bad intentions) which often leads to sins of omission, so they might not say some stuff but they are not lying either retaining their honesty.

Amen! I don't have $7000 to invest in just anybody, so I tested a personal trainer for 6 weeks and she failed the test after she lied to my face about not having her resistance band on her March 6th. She asked me to ask another trainer, which I did, and that trainer told me to check the "Personal Training Accesories Cart" to see if I find one. Which I did. And it ended up being my trainers', which she led me borrow after I caught her lying. IP: Logged |

Weird...I know many Sags and none of them is particularly blunt to the point of being hurtful. Many of them like to swear a lot though which I find funny.IP: Logged |

I think it depends on life-experience too.I have a sag stellium-ish To me honest matters but it also depends on context. A sag working in a highly sensitive field is not going to be blunt. But honesty and integrity still matters alot to us. IP: Logged |

Sag stellium here. Sag dad as well, and one time Sag good friend (both of whom were hard for many to deal with, but I could find them fun). Sags are generally hard to hurt, and assume others are as well and thus don't get why everyone is so thin skinned. (That said, it's just honesty as opposed to sarcasm and bullying as some of the more sensitive perceive it...though Sags can get that dark.) There's a boy and girl I helped raise. The girl is a Cancer with other placements that make it hard for her to handle any form of criticism or teasing. Though their mother is a Sag sun, she has some key placements in Scorpio and Cancer which makes her unusually sensitive for a Sag (and, unfortunately, able to dish it out like a Sag but not able to take it, and her astro-chart is the only reason I tolerate it, though it's not like she's constantly dishing it out). The Leo boy and I are bluntly honest with each other as well as tease each other a lot, but I told him he's not to talk that way or tease his mom and sister that way because they're not as thick skinned as we are.

Sag is honest as in they won't tell you you look good in that dress if you don't. But the immature Sag can be blunt. I've met them. IP: Logged |

I hate to break it to you, but your Sag instructor was absolutely correct in saying he was babying you. He was far more gentle with you compared to the first day. Back to the main topic... Sags often just speak without thinking. It's part of their charm! IP: Logged |

In the solar chart, Sag has the 3rd house cusp of communication in Aqua(Saturn and Uranus ruled). There is a tendency for Sag to say "off the wall" things(Uranus). But also things that feel so blunt(Saturn). Sag however at the same time is quite prophetic. So many people often think Sag "dumb" mentally or a little "confused" (contrary to popular belief that Sag is this "sage"). And that is because of the Aqua in 3rd, Pisces Ic cusp in the solar chart. Sag is oftentimes not an eloquent speaker like Gemini /Leo or Taurus. They oftentimes will trip over words or say inappropriate/ill timed jokes(again this is Aquarius in the 3rds more awkward nature coming through). But as far reaching as their comments are and seem to lack all "logic".( Sort of like the Shaman who is called "mad" at first blush etc). Much of what they say actually comes true-much to many people's surprise If the Sag concerned has Venus 3rd house however, such a native will unconsciously "edit" themselves and try to not say things that are blunt or may be too brusque for others to hear. Mars in aspect to a planet in 3rd, Mars to Mercury /Moon/Sun or in the 3rd house however will bring out the more "blunt" communication style that Sag is famous for having. Ann Coulter is such an example of a Sag who may be the "textbook" type. She has Sun,Moon,Mercury, Venus and Mars in Sag. And add to that, her Mars conjuncts Sun /Moon /Mercury. Yikes!!! (source astro-chart.com). So living with her can feel like you need an extra layer of skin. Pluto amplifies this by squaring her Sun /Mercury /Venus and (widely) her Mars. So she p*** a lot of people off. I suspect Aries is Ascending with her but cant be sure.

I've noticed this about Sagittarius, too. It's important to remember they are "big picture" people, like you said. Their ruling planet is Jupiter, the jovial planet, and the gas giant. I think there is something of a latent philosopher in Sagittarius, in varying degrees, as well. They are truth-seekers. The assertiveness of being a fire element makes them more open and a little crass as well. But that is part of their charm, it's true! IP: Logged |

Side note since you wonder why Sagi is fire. I wonder why Aquarius is air sometimes. They're more like... Ether... or lightning/fire
