I was inspired by an old post in Astro 1.0 about the number of children in a chart and wonder if this can apply to marriages.

Hi Moonshadow,

Well, children are promised in the natal chart by the number of applying aspects made to the ruler of the 5th. Since you have Gemini on the 5th, Mercury has two applying aspects, a trine from the Moon and a sextile from Pluto.

Any planet in the 5th usually just describes the first child. So, Saturn being there indicates a chld with Capricorn qualities. And possibly the delay in having that child until the time is right.

Donna

This is addressed especially to knowflakes who have been/are married at least once lol.

So look to the ruler of your DC and the number of applying aspects it makes. Does this describe the number of marriages/engagements you had?

I am especially curious about aspects in and out of sign, if you can specify that it would be great.

My DC ruler is Moon, 29deg05 Sag, it makes 1 aspect before it leaves Sagittarius, an applying conjunction to Neptune, 29deg13 Sag and also an applying sextile to Saturn, but out of sign since Sat is 2deg26 Scorpio.

Thank you all in advance for your answers!

^ no, you look at the rulers of the 5th and 7th houses and their placements/aspects.

*

It's quite an interesting theory..
So far, it seems to be working (but I don't have much data).

My mother, married twice: DSC ruler makes 2 aplying aspects (one is really wide though)

My aunt: DSC ruler makes one applying aspect, married once.

Edgar Cayce (yeah I happen to have him in my astro data, random): ruler of DSC has 1 applying aspect.. but his wife has 2? I don't know.

My DSC ruler has one applying aspect.. even though I have Sag DSC, hopefully I won't marry several times

Oh but it doesn't work with the kids & 5th house theory..

Checked my mother's ruler of the 5th, it makes no applying aspects and yet she has two daughters.. (?)

She does have Mercury & Venus in the 5th but I don't think my sister is Mercurial anymore than I am Venusian. Hm...

ETA: actually it makes sense, kind of.

My mother's Mercury conjuncts her Pluto in the 5th = her first child is a Scorpio with Gemini Moon.

Then she has Venus in Libra trine Saturn, and guess what, I have the exact same aspect.

So maybe there is something to it.

Also, I read somewhere that if the cusp of the 5th house is a feminine sign, your children (or your first kid) will be a girl and if it's a masculine sign - it'll be a boy.

Depends on what you're looking for

If you want to know about marriage, look at the Descendant sign. Then look at the planet that rules that sign, and where it positioned in your chart. Then look at its aspects.

Do the same thing with the 5th house cusp. Look at the sign, then at the planet ruling that sign. Then at the aspects that planet makes.

Planets that rule signs are always the same:

Aries - Mars
Taurus, Libra - Venus
Gemini, Virgo - Mercury
Cancer - Moon
Leo - Sun
Scorpio - Pluto
Sag - Jupiter
Capricorn - Saturn
Aqua - Uranus
Pisces - Neptune

My mom has her 5th house cusp in Leo, ruler Aries sun in the 12th. Pluto is also in her 5th. I have my Scorpio sun in the 5th, conjunct my mars and Pluto. My mars is also sextile my neptune. Sun conjunct mars is pretty much like Sun in Aries. I have Pluto in the 5th. Mars aspecting neptune is similar to having the Mars in Pisces/Aries the 12th, right? So yeah, it's pretty uncanny except that Leo is a masculine sign (?) and I am very much feminine

Agree, Doux! It's accuracy is amazing. I also forgot to mention that I am the first child so yeah, it is pretty spot on except for the Leo part (though I have my sun in the 5th, it makes it similar to Leo, right?)

Since I have a VERY Scorpionic conjunction in the 5th, maybe I will sire a strong-willed and rebellious (and probably psychic) child who will give me intensity 10 headaches?

Definitely, Sun in 5th gives a Leo vibe.
It all makes sense!

Haha yep, sounds like your kids are gonna be intens-ish brace yourself!

LOL I wouldn't use the word intense-ish because I already am intense-ish They will probably be a leveled-up version of my intensity

Question, if the 5th house shows what your first child will possibly be like (which is pretty accurate, btw), what will show the succeeding children? Is it still a reflection of the energies of the 5th house, its ruler and the planets aspecting it? I have 3 other siblings and I'd love to know how it plays out in my mother's chart.

Dang, good question.

I guess if there's another planet in the 5th house that would be it.

But if there's only one.. tricky.

Maybe it depends on the aspects the ruler of the 5th or the planet in the 5th makes? Like the tightest aspect would be for the 1st child and the wider ones for the next children? I'm totally speculating here, there's gotta be another theory

Whoooops, sorry. Got a bit carried away LOL. )

Okay, since I'm not married, I'll still take my mom's chart as a reference.

7th house Libra, ruler Venus in the 11th. It makes 2 aspects, but only one applying which is a trine to Neptune.

My mom and dad are married for almost 25 years now. She, however, had only 2 serious relationships and one of them is with my dad. It's a curious theory though because the other aspect was a separating opposition to pluto. Plus, venus trine neptune= my dad has his Venus in the 12th.

Maybe that says something..?

okay I can't remember where I had read about this theory but they were saying you have to take into account the sun in a female horoscope and look at how many applying aspects before leaving its own sign.
They applied the same for men using the moon.

there i this site that has info on marriage predictions: http://www.cosmitec-astrological-compatibility-advice.com/marriage-horoscopes.html

Lol, maybe that's your progressed planets speaking?

Anyways, none of them are out of sign. Is your theory more of the out of sign aspects?

The ruler of my 7th is in 11th and there are 7 aspects there. So, I'm only on my first marriage and so I expect six more wives. Any aspects for mistresses on the side?

The ruler of my 5th is my 3rd where my Moon is. There is a single aspect to Moon. But I have four children.

Am I missing something?

Checked out my dad's chart, he has 3 aspects to his DSC ruler Neptune, all separating squares. It has an aspect to his Venus in his 12th, though. His one and only serious relationship is with my mom, who has her Venus in Pisces. Hmmm. If there are no applying aspects, how does that play out?

My Sun doesn't make applying aspects. It will meet other planets before leaving Aries but it's not in orb with them. Oh noezzz!

Yes. You only count the applying aspects. Disregard separating ones.
