I have my Mars in virgo conjunct my bf's Venus and Sun in virgo and I love him, and he says he loves me but we keep on getting mad at each other.

Love-hate relationship, is this common with conjuncts ?

I wouldn't say it's common with conjunctions, but with Mars, absolutely!

Mars is always in some kind of fight. It has to, it's his nature.

Be glad it's not a square

Lol i have venus square mars with my boyfriend. We barely ever fight.
