Hi all,
I have a slight problem. I need to switch my basic hobby to smtg else. Please if you could give some ideas for me how to reach the same dose of happyness with other activities if looking at my Natal placements. My hobby is shopping

5th house cusp in Pisces. Neptune in my 2d house (Sagittarius) (Sigh)

This becomes a problem time to time cause... you know... Cann't earn enough.
So...

What else should I tell? I have other hobbies aswell like reading and some sports but the replacement is needed exactly for this Neptune issue.

I hear you on shopping. Having a garden is a good replacement obsession. Now, I shop for it but at least the garden blesses me and all sorts of other people, so it is better than shopping

@Ami Anne
hehe, I just realised that I'm shopping for by bookshelf! I like reading but I have to say that shopping books makes me totally happy. I even must not read all of them, just to buy them and take them home n put in shelf

Start learning to play some instrument, enroll in a dance course, try painting, make jewelry. Or just focus on astrology

Trace your motive. Given the data, it sounds like the Neptunian governance over your 2nd house means you give away money too easily.

To translate this into a Capricornian framework, it means you've succumbed to the consumerist mindset. If dollars weren't the currency, what would you use to pay for merchandise?

Principles. Ethics. Your emotions. Find a way to give that away freely to people that you encounter. You'll have some bad and good experiences, and then you can dissolve your money elsewhere into an investment portfolio instead.

Or buy stuff on eBay, it's cheaper, and when you're bored or done with the product, sell it back on eBay for some diminishing returns.

Good replacement hobbies:

movies: finding movies that move and inspire you
music: finding music that puts you in tune with your soul
fashion: finding a style of dressing (via tumblr preferrably) that makes you feel like you end up looking exactly the way you want to come off to others and the way you aways dreamt of looking
poetry: eventually, finding all these things that inspire you will inspire you to do other things as well, such as love people a little more, write poetry to express your new found passion for things (I didn't use to write poetry) or maybe even write music or short stories.
philosophy: not necessarily religious beliefs, but developing your opinions on things will really give you confidence and a sense that your life has meaning
interior design: finding your own special brand of interior decorating will make you feel at home anywhere you go
people: once you've found all the things that make you happy, you can look for people who share your real passions and lifestyle. Then you will feel truly free.

I don't think I have hobbies.

Would I get insight if I look at the cusp of my 5th house, the planet that rules my 5th house or the planet in my 5th house(by aspect or transit)?

Hi Freesia,

Instead of hobby replacement, I think logically about whatever I am attempting to cease. With shopping, I just think about how much money I can accumulate if I don't spend and envision all the money I would save and how great a feeling it is knowing it's there. I also tell myself I won't do something anymore no matter how strong the impulse. Sometimes this works, sometimes, I change my mind later and go back to whatever it is I want to stop.

If all else fails, I adopt a philosophical approach thinking people consume too much and i need to step into minimalist mentality which I enjoy. I start thinking about what I need to survive, food, shelter, clothing, water, and stick to that. It's practicing for the apocalypse or a crisis, that's how I view it. Keep it to the bare essentials instead of what I don't really need. This tends to help me not buy stuff. I think, can I live without this? I reach the conclusion I can definitely and don't buy it. I can really get into the minimalist lifestyle for a while but I always snap out of phases and think, why did I ever miss out? Jump on the phase while it's there.

Augh, I love shopping!!!! I love spending money and buying clothes and omfg I'm getting excited here. Venus in the Third anybody????

But uhm, regularly look at your bank account maybe? I've since started funding my own bank account and seeing the number drop from in the thousands to in the hundreds really kills me...

If not, gardening sounds cute.

So many great answers! I still reread them, must think through

Gardening - not untill I'm about 60 years old or so. Besides I have no spare time, I work too much at work n come home too tired. Shopping is one of things I feel that I earned for my hard work. But I realise that stg is wrong here. Cause happiness from shopping is very short.

What do you mean "via tumblr"? I'm not registered there, have no idea what is it for a site. Do you mean by following some blogs and collecting ideas?

hmmm... I had forced "minimalist" lifestyle my whole childhood cause of lack of money. This might be partly a reason why I tend to work so much to afford things I never have had. So I think I must find the middleway btw minimalism and maximalism cause now I tend to overdo by shopping and "buying emotions" which I have missed my whole life I guess.

Oh yes, I understand. In that case, it can be especially difficult to live in a minimal way since you enjoy having what you didn't then. Maybe hobbies are a better idea. Do you enjoy reading? If you do, it can take your mind off shopping and before you know it, hours have flown by.

Omg me too! I wanna buy all these nice things (a house, a custom made car, lotsa money in the bank) and have all the stuff my parents never gave me! Then when I have kids, breed them to inherent and contribute to my stuff. Maybe even start a little portrait gallery for the head of the house (or whichever kid decides to take the property) to add their own family to. Starting with on big portrait of myself!

(Could you ever tell that I'm a Scorpio...?)

Yeah like making a tumblr about what i like fashionwise was very helpful for me, as motivation to want to do other things and not get stuck in addictions/habits that kept me from facing reality. http://truefashionblog.tumblr.com

And ur very welcome dear

You can find what you want without spending a lot of money

Like on ebay or craigslist.

I like having nice stuff too. I just know it's best to get it for dirt cheap, and don't feel proud of myself unless I'm getting a bargain (bc I know I could've if I'd really tried to look for one)

The reasoning behind my post was that once you fill your insides, with things that are very valuable to you, such as great poetry or great movies, great music, strong opinions, well defined likes and dislikes, I think that you will need the external things less. You will have such picky taste, actually, that this will force you to live with only your most treasured articles of clothing or pieces of furniture, jewelry etc.

So once you really try to narrow things down to ONLY what makes you really happy (for example, there may be millions of interior decorating styles that appeal to you, but only one that makes you feel completely at home and in love with life), then you will only want to decorate your house in that specific way, and won't go around frantically buying anything you see in the store that catches your eye.
