Are the effects really so different from a natal interpretation? For example, CafeAstrology lists aspects like "Solar Return Sun conj. Solar Return Pluto" but is that interpretation really so different from a normal "Sun conjunct Pluto" one?

I don't think it's that different.

When I look at my SR chart I can see how the apsects are manifested, and it seems to me that it's pretty much the same as in a natal chart, only it's for a year.
