I didn't contradict myself at all. I said the key to keeping those trines (comfort/understanding) from becoming boring was to have harder aspects (sparks/obstacles to overcome) together. My entire post was saying you need balance between the two, not that one (all hard aspects/all easy aspects) is better or more binding than the other.

It's hard to not see everything as eternity when so many people are connected through spirit/soul to each other. On just this one website there are countless examples of soulmates, if not true twin souls, uniting in this life and remembering others from past ones.

I think love is a never-ending gift that our souls are allowed to share from one life to the next. My world revolves around it, and I usually feel for someone before I think which has gotten me into trouble on more than one occasion haha what are ya gonna do?

As for the OP though, I realized I got off on another tangent when I reread the thread.. Oops!

I haven't noticed squared sun signs (same mode) at least in my personal experiences. This could be because I've got a fixed ASC & Moon with a mutable Sun while my MC/IC axis is Cardinal.
If I examine things closely most of my relationships have actually been with those who's Sun signs are either semi-sextile, sextile, or quincunx my own Sun. I do attract a lot of Sags, but most of them are 1st/2nd decan while my Sun is mid-3rd decan of Pisces, so if the square is there, it's very wide.

But I don't seem to seek out water trines to my Sun, either. Some out of element (Water - Fire) trines to my Sun aren't horrible but that's because they conjunct either my ASC or my Saturn so I'm autmatically drawn/loyal to those folks almost no matter what.

I really do believe that people find others who activate/reflect their own natal charts. So if you have a bunch of squares in your natal maybe you need someone who conjuncts one or two of those planets to activate those squares in synastry to help you deal with any issues you may have in the areas ruled by the natal square.

Or myself for instance:
I have a few YODs in my chart and I've noticed that most of the people I hold near and dear to my heart activate at least one of these if not two, or even all three in some peoples' case, when compared in synastry. Composite charts with those I'm close to usually contain a planet or angle to activate one of my YODs as well.
