Inspired by SilverFeather's thread! What are your takes on it? In contrast to the 'hidden' nature of planets in the IC, would conjunctions to the MC make the planetary traits immediately visible? For instance, I have Pisces moon conj MC in the 9th. Whatever I'm feeling, it always shows no matter how hard I try to hide it. It's like wearing my heart not just on a sleeve but on a crown where everyone can see it. IP: Logged |

Hi Lunae!I think that yes, planets conjunct the MC are usually very visible to the "public" - that is, everyone on a social level (but not necessarily on a personal level, that would be the ASC and inner planets). IP: Logged |

I actually thought about this, too. You do look a bit Saturnian.

@Kerosene, Haha come to think of it, Saturn rules the bones and one thing immediately noticeable about you is your bone structure. @Doux, I wonder though, because no one can see the lunar traits in me immediately (physically, at least haha.) overpowered by mercury, I guess? Chart ruler squares the moon, so. IP: Logged |

I've noticed that people *usually* see the MC at first, that is, when they haven't even seen you interact with others or themselves. In that sense the MC is really "the mask" we wear. But once you start talking with someone, the way they express themselves and speak, the body language and all that, that's the ASC and its ruler. Hey, great thread Lunae! Neptune conjuncts my MC from the 9th House side. Neptune conjunct MC by Sue Tompkins quote: Neptune conjunct MC often suggests diffuse goals and an early uncertainty of direction with respect to an individual’s choice of vocation. This aimlessness can sometimes be matched by a parent’s ambivalent feelings as to how they want their child to be seen in the world. Many with Neptune conjunct the Midheaven want to be seen by the world at large as glamorous and wondrous: a saviour, a prince or a princess; perhaps someone creative or representing some kind of public ideal. Many with this placement, especially when young, can find it very difficult to get hold of the reality of what is fitting for them to pursue, given their life-situation and individual talents. In extreme cases, if they meet someone who is writing a book, they want to write a book; if they get to know a politician, they yearn to pursue a career in politics – and so on. They want the glamour that they imagine others have in their lives. Those with Neptune conjunct the MC tend to dream of the future; at best this can spur them on to achieving the recognition they yearn for by actually fulfilling whatever their dream is. And the dream is usually not strictly personal; the individual often wants to ‘save’ the world in some way. This placement is ideal for any Neptunian type careers: the arts, music, work in welfare fields, charities, at sea, with water, to name but a few possibilities. Neptune on either end of the MC– IC axis sometimes suggests a tendency to idealise one parent at the expense of the other. There is usually a distorted image of at least one of the parents and perhaps an experience of their being some kind of victim. Neptune on the IC and into the 4th house is sometimes descriptive of a missing father and sometimes loss of family and home altogether. For some with Neptune on the MC, it is the thirst for recognition from a parent that propels the individual into weaving all sorts of romantic dreams of what they are going to do with their lives; for they feel that if the world recognises them, then so will the parent.
This is very true for me. I definitely used to idealize certain professions, not really understanding the hard work involved. Though my only interest was always helping people. I often feel like the world does need a savior but not just one person, we kind of all need to save each other (in my opinion.) The idea of work behind the scenes, helping people that are sort of forgotten, is the only job that seems worthwhile to me. I think what isn't explained here is the fact that I am literally LOST when out in public. I'm inside my head to the point of not paying attention to the road. I actually have to stop myself from thinking about anything that is important to me because I might put myself in danger by being so zoned out. I also seem to be able to take on the face of what the people around me want. If someone wants a certain attitude, it's like I'm feeling the attitude they are looking for and then I put that face on. Always to make them happy. Like the difference between looking at a cashier and thinking "She wants someone to pander to her hard work." or "He wants someone to have a big smile and just brighten up his day." There's this soaking up of the feelings around me when I'm in public. Basically an illusory person in public. One of my parents literally was a victim as a child, so I'm not sure if this is just in my mind. Though, I did seem to think my mother was too mean to my father, as a child. Once I grew up a bit, I realized the actual dynamics occurring. IP: Logged |

My MC is in Pisces and I've been mistaken for Pisces sometimes. I have nothing conjunct my MC, are other aspects to the MC important Doux? How would the difficult ones like opposition and square play out? Im gonna check my chart later and add up to my post. IP: Logged |

Agreed! its_aqua,
Yes, other aspects to the MC are important, too; though they may not manifest as readily as the conjunction, and have a different effect. The opposition is obviously the reverse of the conjunction, so that planet's energy will be "hidden" - buried at the IC. With the square, the planet that squares the IC / MC axis could represent "obstacles" that get in the way of a peaceful / satisfying home life (IC) and / or public life / career (MC). IP: Logged |

Kero and Doux, thank youu I found this site that describes each planet's effect on the MC (excluding the outer planets). http://skywriter.wordpress.com/2011/04/18/inner-planets-conjunct-the-midheaven%E2%80%94are-you-larger-than-life/ Her take on the moon conj MC is interesting but honestly I can relate to most of it especially the part about being a 'nobody' IRL.

Oh you, Aqua MC's! Ruler of 10th in the 8th obviously makes me think of a job related to 8th house stuff: psychology, the occult, medecine (I guess?), something that has to do with uncovering the hidden (detectives), dealing with trauma (psychiatry, hypnotism) and maybe alternative ways of healing. Or it could mean that your reputation (10th house) is kinda shady because you seem secretive or are tied to something taboo (8th house). 8th house ruler conjunct the MC - you're a walking sexy beast (at least in the eyes of the public). Again, the career may be tied to Plutonic stuff. IP: Logged |
