For example, I've read so many posts worrying about how certain transits will affect not just their natal, but also their progressed chart, their composites with certain people, and the progressed composites of those charts. And it's not just planets, but asteroids too.

I mean, with all of those variables, OF COURSE they're going to think the transits are affecting them somehow. Instead of blaming their lack of discipline (or whatever) and actively working on themselves, they have a defeatist attitude and blame everything on the universe because "it's foretold in the stars."

Some examples of studies done by Carl Payne Tobey:

1. More than 90% of "Moon Wobbles"
[Aspect of North Node and the Moon conjunct while squaring the Sun] had correlations with accidents that made it to the press and had a loss of life.
( Note, his research was in the 1970s. These days one can find an accident on a daily basis in the digital media. )
I think a Neptune afflcition in that study showed death by fire accidents only.

2. More than 80% of all German Spies caught in the United States were Sagittarius.
This defies probability. If Astrology were fake, then only 10% should have been Sagittarius.

3. More than 90% of women with Mars conjunct, square or opposed to the Node of Mars in 18-19 Taurus had problems with their ovaries prior to age 40.

4. My own research. More than 30 US Presidents have multiple aspects [within 2 degrees orb] to Asteroid Kaali from the same set of seven Planets and Asteroids. The odds of this being random chance are 1 in many thousands.

5. Red Sox regained their World Title in 2004 after a gap of 86 years during a Total Lunra Eclipse. Lunar Eclipse is known in Astrology to signal "endings", and a terrible losing streak ended for Red Sox fans.

6. In World Cup Soccer, every time the championship is held in the Chinese Year of the Rooster, the winner out of more than 24 teams is always Brazil or Italy. Consdireng that more than 60 countries play very good soccer and can beta any other team, this fact is beyond astonishing. No scientist can explain this. This has been going on since 1934. [1946 did not see a championship.]

The facts are verifiable. Hundreds of more examples can be given especially with the help of the Saturn Return Transit and "Mid Life Crisis" of Uranus opposition Uranus in an indivudal's life. The great Dane Rudhyar has given tons of proof in his research regarding the Cycles of Generational Planets.

Even today, why does the Arab Spring have to start when Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus squared up? Why did not happen in 1980s or 1990s or early 2000s? Why now? Why only now the Assanges, Snowdens, Mannings and Greenwalds became whistle blowers?

Why do Real Estate Cycles regularly map to the presence of Sidereal North Node in Cancer as the popular peak for new homes to Sideral North Node in Capricron as the worst crash?

No rationalist can answer this, they will just dismiss this as coincidence. Astrology gives an elegant framework of psychological answers about the individual as well as mass events. It is upto us to choose the correct way of using Astrology, just like how an astute mathematician uses advanced equations.

Astrology was never meant to be everyone's cup of tea. Ancient Astrologers were such that they would pay skeptics to ensure the masses treated astrology as nonsense. I suspect this is happening to this day. The few who master Astrology can always control the many who stay ignorant of it. I would go so far as to sya that even certain religions were invented to prevent the masses from understanding Astrology, as masses can pay off karmic debts and attain Spiritual Liberation. With religious edicts, astrology can be kept away from the masses by making them fear for their lives.
