Also, there's something weird about me: I find it much easier to tell someone I love them in English than in my native language. Pretty sure us Scorps aren't into professing our love verbally. It's.. hard because it makes us feel vulnerable (at least that's how it is for me).
Similar for me - but a little different. There's a lot of people around me, family and everybody. We just don't say it. Whatever the reason is, I'm not sure. Maybe they feel the same as me or it makes them uncomfortable. I don't say because we never have. It's been yeeeeeeeeears and I just think if I start now, it might make everyone feel awkward. It might cause more confusion than it would good feeling. They might start to wonder about me as if something is going on in my head (planning something bad). I say it to one of my sisters, the one I don't talk to very much ironically. I DO love my family and several others. We just don't say it. *shrugs* Oh sorry, I'm getting chatty again. If not for the awkwardness of broken "tradition" you might say, no problem. Oh, Doux Rêve, when you say it in English, does it perhaps not feel personal? Slightly off topic, but I can say some "naughty" things in Spanish and it's no big deal. I know the words, I know what they mean, but it's not completely natural. So I just say them as if I'm saying bicycle. Annnnnd... from your name, Native Language French..... annnnd... you're Canadian? *crossing fingers that I don't get punched if I'm wrong* IP: Logged |

Hi Zander!Ohhh it's the same for me, really. It's definitely a family thing - we don't say such things and never did. And if I do say it.. they're prolly gonna think something's wrong. Maybe they'll think I wanna kill myself, no joke! Like 'what the hell is wrong with her.. oh no, she's gonna do something stupid!!'. Haha, yeah! It feels less personal in English, for sure. Mhm, I do speak French but that's not my native language.. though it almost is. For some reason I don't feel comfortable with telling people where I live or where I come from.. it feels unsafe, lol. But I'm not from Canada. IP: Logged |

To friends and family very easily, I really like showing my beloved friends how much I love them and value them. When it comes to a partner, its very difficult. The more I feel it, the less easily it is for me to say it. Only if the other has expressed equal feelings to me. IP: Logged |

It's all good. I was just taking a guess! I have a second guess but I'll leave it. I'm always envious of multi-lingual people. A good friend of mine at work. He speaks Laotian, Vietnamese, Mandarin Chinese, French, and English! Whew! He reads and writes all but French. Yeah your situation is EXACTLY like mine! That's what they'd think! They would think I'm going to kill myself! Otherwise, no problem for me. IP: Logged |

This is so funny, Doux. My Aqua moon drives me to look at myself and partner from a distance and be amused. That itself is reason enough not to look stereotypical or foolish. So saying, "I love you' in all its variations is a no no. But give me a computer keyboard and then it becomes cool, ingenious, rare and easily done. One can stylise it in a million ways, in different languages too. @Kerosene - are you a guy? If you are, your advice and clip on how to have fun with guys is even funnier. IP: Logged |

Taurus Moon~ I don't have a problem saying it at all, but I do have to mean it.I have a lot of Fire/Jupiter in my chart so I naturally focus on the positive, and I'm big on counting my blessings. ------------------

You edited your post! I'm not from where you thought, though. Really it's quite simple.. haha. I'm from Europe (that definitely gives it away!). Oh yes, multi-lingual people are so lucky. I wish I could speak another language, I only know 3, can also speak some Spanish but not much. It gives a broader perspective on life, really. Like when you learn a new language, you basically enter a completely new world. It's very interesting! By the way, it's your birthday in a few days, right? You should do something fun. Astro keen,
Maaan, you have an Aqua Moon and you're okay with love confessions? I get you about the keyboard thing though! I'm definitely more at ease when I write / type (they say it's a Water Mercury / retro Mercury thing..). IP: Logged |

Yeah I'm the same way. Can write a few sentences that express what a special someone represents. By the way I think that's much more significant than just saying "I love you". That's too easy and too.. unexpressive, in my opinion. A lot of people say 'I love you' at the drop of a hat, and it takes the meaning out of those three words when overused. What would really make me feel good is if someone said something like this: 'You mean a lot to me, and I'm so glad to have you in my life. You're a very special person to me and I'd like you to stay in my life for a long time' <= now that.. that's serious business! Not saying I don't like the three magical words, I do, but.. there's gotta be more, haha.
Wow, this is totally me, you put it way better than I ever could! It is easier in English, gives more distance from your feelings. It's become better than my own language from years of talking to people online. In real life, either I clam up or it quickly sounds as if I took it straight from some cheesy film. How do you talk to people in your own country? I love writing novels to people I care about. It's so exciting, pouring your all into it. IP: Logged |

Virgo Moon/Pisces Venus and ditto. I say I love you to all my family, pets, friends, and sometimes acquaintances as well. Life IS too short, and I don't want to regret not telling people that others care about them. I intend to make everyone I know feel as loved as I can and as they deserve...everybody could use more lovin'.

I see this as a cultural thing. Americans are thought to be more expressive - Virgo moon/ Pisces Venus (??) as suggested by the last person who had no qualms about saying the dreaded 3 words out loud and often. The British, on the other hand, are more the Aqua Moon variety, i.e., my variety. One could easily state cultural stereotypes as a set of astrological aspects. IP: Logged |

To just say "I love you" is easy for me. Even to a perfect stranger because they brightened my day for a moment. In that moment, I love them for the feeling they gave me.Admitting that I care for someone has never been an issue. I do have to mean it when I say it, but that means exactly literally when I say it. I have Moon inconjunct Mars/Uranus and it tends to make my emotions rather fleeting on a daily basis, so I say what I feel when I feel it. Especially with friends, family, and pets. But if there are more than just friendly feelings for a guy I become a blithering idiot when trying to express myself. Writing it down seems to be my preferred method in this situation because I don't feel satisfied with just saying "I love you," but I can't get all my words and emotions on the same page at the same time in my brain, so I put it to paper. I'm 27 and I still write love notes Leo ASC, Pis Sun, Taurus Moon, Pisces Merc RX

meissieri,Haha, yeah, I get you. Same here. I definitely agree with Astro keen here, it's a cultural thing more than anything. Where I live, no one really says such things, especially not to friends. So I usually don't tell people I care about them - it kinda goes without saying. But it's kinda sad though. IP: Logged |

I can't even say that to my mother easily as for other people I'd say that only if they told me that they love me first. Never gonna be the first one, unless some miracle happens in my mind. And if others do say that I sometimes just shrug shoulders and say OK. Maybe that's because I have Virgo ASC? Or Sagg Moon. No it ain't sad. I don't tend to believe people who say it often, however well intentioned they are. I even find it laughable - see, a cultural thing again. I remember an occassion when Diana Ross came to the UK to perform at a royal function, which was televised. She asked every one to hold hands and say I love you to the other. NOBODY did. The poor lady quickly changed tack on seeing an audience turned to stone.

Astro keen & Doux Reve, Never would've thought of it, but yes, culture and upbringing would have a lot to do with it, too. Some people don't get raised to be so expressive. I think it's often be assumed we "just know". At least that's been the thing where I live. Poor Diana, though. That would've been embarrassing. IP: Logged |
