I mean, you guys know much more than me but my logic says that there's going to be other placements, and especially aspects that will influence it.

So, maybe it's balance most of the time, but sometimes selfish or unselfish depending on circumstance, transits, etc, etc.
I always keep that stuff in mind and starting to see the general "planet in this sign and house" as a reference, a starting point.

Venus in Leo, for me, anyway, goes along with the Virgos as being a bit self serving. I will admit it. What else is it going to be when it's in the sign of Leo, that sign is about the self, pretty much, like Aries, and what kind of impact the ego can have on one's surroundings for one's own sake? I have always been able to access my imagination/inner mind easily, this goes along with the concept of self since this is where the mind is it's where it originates. Libra planets in aspect to it accentuate this since they are right on the ascendant/the prime originator of selfhood so I'd say there is a band of selfishness in my chart but those Libra planets feel bad and want to compensate by evening up the scales some.

Okay, I'm trying to reflect here not singling out Venus necessarily.
It's been 5 years since I've had any what I would call a properly functioning relationship so bear with me.

I will give, I will do little things, things that I think are "special" or just nice to do. I always have that "it's the little things that count" mentality, but in greater numbers. Both in giving and getting. I'd much rather have that than to either give or get a grand gesture of love. Although once in while at unexpected times is really fun.
What I DO expect, is recognition for doing so. I need to be appreciated. Even if it's a daily chore that I do frequently, I'll be pretty satisfied with a genuine smile, a light kiss, and a thank you = I'm happy.

My Mercury is at 24 Degrees Virgo Conjunct Venus and Mars in the 12th

I see your Libra ascendant loud and clear. People with a strong Libra influence like to have their good deeds noticed. There's no need to go overboard. What I like most of all is for them to compliment me on what I did, say what they like about it. Then I feel really good. When they don't compliment, just tell me thank you, I feel like what I did was not up to standard. I like to be complimented on what I do more than stuff like clothing choices/how I look. I take pride in knowing what I did is considered above average in someone else's eyes. An ounce of encouragement is worth a pound of platinum to me.
