Heh. My good friend Pluto has a square, an opposition, a trine, and a sextile in my chart.

But I'll have a look, thanks for the interesting perspective.

If you're interested in the 3D way of looking at charts there's a way to examine this already. It's called declinations. It looks at how planets are located in comparison to the ecliptic plane... Like looking at the solar system from the side rather then from above/below.

Magi astrology uses these types of charts a lot. Planets can be parallel (at the same level), or contra-parallel (the same distance from the ecliptic at opposite directions). parallels and contra-parallels function like conjunctions and oppositions. It's a good way to see how energies work in your chart from a different perspective. This phenomenon probably also explains compatibility that doesn't make sense according to zodiac positions.

I have Sun parallel Pluto exact and it fits like a glove.

If the exact mathematical equation of the elliptic is known then the exact orbit can be easily calculated with the X and Y projections on the biggest circle the elliptic can fit into.

in astro additional tables - would you be looking at latitude or declination?

i'd like to fire pluto as my chart ruler right about now.

Don't worry everyone, Pluto's zodiac position still 'works'!!

When you look at declinations you'll notice that usually none of the planets are exactly on the ecliptic... Declinations don't cancel out the zodiac position of any of the planets, they just show how planets can relate on a different level.

Believe me, Pluto went over my Capricorn Sun a while back and I really felt it.

this is true for other planets as well.
The greatest difference apparently are found with Pluto, but also Moon and Mercury occasionally.

Astrologers treat planets AS IF they were on the eccliptic, which in most cases is not the case.

Though the nodal axis and Uranus seem to be always on the eccliptic (as is Sun obviously).

I think the approach of most astrologers is a symbolical one anyway.
