I was in choir for 3 years in middle school but never got any one-on-one attention from my choir director so I don't think I developed my voice much. How old were you when you started working on your voice? I have eros and psyche in taurus second house but they don't aspect anything.

Hey! Taurus is wonderful for singers. I know many talented vocalists with an abundance of - or some tight points in - Taurus. I'll gladly look at your chart.

I can say it's never too late. I was performing as young as nine, (Streisand, usually) but I didn't come into my own until my mid-twenties, when I started developing my own sound. Your voice will change many times throughout the course of your life, and doesn't even develop fully until 28 in most cases. Working younger than 14 is dicey, (and no range expansion should be attempted before that) but once you're in your twenties, you can have all sorts of fun. I didn't find my belt until I was 28! Now, while I'm mostly a mix-voice singer (it's healthier than belt) when I want to, I can bust out some very powerful head notes with full chest support. My highest is B5 - or the B below High C (C6, or the Soprano C.) I'm SUCH a voice geek.

But it's never, ever too late to start. The voice I have now is nothing like the voice I had 10 years ago. I've kept a lot of my practise work up on a certain website so that I can refer back to my progress. It's really something. Hard work - it pays off!

Cowell once described my voice as, 'in a word, haunting'. Prior to that, he'd said it was 'something a bit like the noise a cat makes when it's in pain'. I know, right? Ouch. He was completely right, though. I was trying to sing too softly without proper masque support, and then too 'big' whereas my voice had not developed there yet. That's when I was 24. It is truly amazing how it changes on its own, and with proper work, once you close in on 30.

I'm rather hard-ass myself, though. And my own vocal coach is sharp but firm. And British. He can't push me harder than my Virgo Venus can, so we're good.

Lemme take a look at your chart.

And in case anyone's curious, here's the piece I composed for my second quantum physics course. It sort of 'set me off', you might say. I wrote it within the same week as I wrote my first techno song. I was kind of amazed at how fertile that period was, songwriting-wise.

I got an A. (Yay!)

This is great, elixir.

That tight Psyche-Eros in Taurus is obviously in affinity with your Venus - in Gemini - in 3H!

Your only drawback is going to be the Cancer Sun-Chiron: sensitivity and a fear of getting out there. THAT's what holds someone back. But 3H Venus is great for writers, and ruling your 2H, a strong indicator of making money this way.

Your Moon's ruler is also loosely conjunct Neptune in the 10H - again, good indicator of it being a professional direction. Nothing is ever certain, mind, but there's a definite inclination - and support - there.

I second that electronica could be a good breakout. It's ridiculously easy to submit electronic music, and most people are making it very cheaply. I highly suggest going for an analogue sound, with more classic features - kinda like Moby. That seems like it'd mesh well with your Cancer and Aquarius. Singing soulful, almost Nina Simone, or even Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee style vocals, with electronic beats. Could be interesting! You'd definitely be on the rise, with dubstep kinda taking over the market, heh.

Your Mercury is nicely conjunct Jupiter, so you might have a bigger voice than you think. 5H - I'm thinking kids music. Now THAT's an industry that's open to anybody.

Haha! Thanks. Yeah, I've been told that. Granted, that's just my 'musical theatre legit', and being soprano, yeah, I can get a bit Disney Princess-esque. My serious work has been considered more comparable to Sarah Brightman and Tori Amos / Kate Bush, though.

It WAS an interesting project. I'd already committed to the qualitative track, so when I got a head cold, it was like - oh, great; well, I'm not backing out now. So I did the best I could.

Wow! Ace of Base. THAT takes me back. I did 'My Deja Vu' for awhile there. Do you know that one?

Thanks for the software recommendation cappy. I'm so saving this thread for future reference lol. Lots of good info here.

Indigo thanks for looking at my chart. The sun/chiron has always been my most sensitive spot but I've learned to assert myself much more and be true to myself. Jupiter is transiting over my sun/chiron conjunction soon and I'm feeling the positive effects I'm definitely not the wallflower I used to be..plus I have progressed sun in leo.

Ahh, progressed Sun helps a lot. And FL Studio should be a good start; I use WaveLab 8 and GarageBand myself.

Yeah, I was never too big into Ace of Base, but I admit I dug them in my middle school years. I liked 'My Deja Vu' because - well, hell, with this much Scorpio, really? How couldn't I? Plus, it took me to a whole new level I'd never explored before, with the Eastern beat. I added modern to my skill set (of ballet, jazz, tap, ballroom and swing) and found that dancing to a seductive beat in the privacy of my own space was incredibly therapeutic.

'My Ravine', is an entirely different thing - more in line with their usual sound - but a great survivor song.

I'm not as well versed in pop culture as you lol...I guess I have a lot of catching up to do! Doing kids songs is a really good idea...is there a lot of competition in the music industry?

The kids industry is actually the easiest to break into, in my opinion. For some reason, it's just an open market. Electronica, as can be evidenced by how many 'DJs' are always looking to 'start new labels' (you see my scepticism) is equally abundant - you just have to be cautious. There's a LOT of fly-by-night.

Whereas kids stations are a big market, and many top of the line bands are also releasing kids albums because it's something of an oligopoly. You can start by sending your demo to the music director of a satellite kids' station, for example, and see if you can get something in rotation.

Yes, it's that easy. Crazy, huh? Sometimes it even works.

This is the sandbox I'm kinda playing in right now:
http://soundcloud.com/6degreesofscorpio/policy-of-truth-never-again

I call it 'as if Lady Gaga and Sarah Brightman had a dumpster baby'.

But this ...
http://soundcloud.com/6degreesofscorpio/m-theory-demo-version

This is my pet genre right now. I developed this for a project of mine after falling madly in love with this song by the group Les Friction. Ended up recording it half an hour after hearing it the first time. It was like I just knew it somehow. It's an amazing, beautiful, gripping piece. I definitely felt every word. Vonlichten is a sensational composer.

Anyway. Music. Oh, music. I love music.

Lemme take a look, 23. Honestly, it CAN be very intuitive. I just wrote another song today. I'm going to go over the process of development in an astrological manner when I have some time tomorrow.
