Well I have venus transiting my 9th house in Sagittarius and am studying a new language. Could that be related to music too? Also, I signed up for a guitar class. I've had neptune transiting my 12th house in Pisces for a while now so that could be it. I've become interested in dj's, musical instruments, and making music for a while now.IP: Logged |

Same thing, in past 2 months I listened to as many songs as I have listened before the 2 months all my life. But in my situation it has got to do more with expressing myself somehow. Not like a sad cry baby song guy or anything like that though. It seems that I took a lot of interest to art this year. Before I used to be that big dark dull-minded guy, but now? Weird stuff is happening.IP: Logged |

It's annoying though. Wherever I read there are different descriptions. It's either 3,4,5 or 7th house.venus transiting 3rd house cusp neptune in pisces transiting ahh im too tired to think of anything else that could relate to music IP: Logged |

My BFF has her moon in the fifth house and in Taurus and she's pretty talented both in music-where she learnt how to play the piano all by her own- and at painting. She's a cancer with sag rising. While she plays the piano and writes the notes..I'm the one who writes her the songs. IP: Logged |

I'm becoming more and more into music but I have natal placements that support it. elixir, what kind of music do you want to experiment with? Good luck btw. ------------------ I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy. IP: Logged |

Jupiter was going through my 9H when I started going nuts on Coursera. By the time it left I've studied, two quantum physics courses, (for which I received certificates, thank you muchly), one in music production, songwriting, another in thinking mathematically, studying logic, international criminal process, the business of mental health, helping kids with math deficiency (and mild dyscalculia), and inspiring leadership - developing greater empathy in terms of management. So ... from February 2012 to March 2013, I studied all of the above via MOOCs. Go Jupiter, huh? My 9H is ruled by Venus, incidentally, in my 12H; and Jupiter rules my 4H. I worked at my own pace, in the seclusion of my own home. Perfect! Neptune is definitely a factor. While the QP was something to which I'd wanted to return since I studied astrophysics in college, (just as a minor), there was a very practical reason why I started studying with Berklee Music, as production is something at which I've wanted to become more adept in the digital age. t-Nep began opposing my natal Venus just as I began studying with Berklee. So, Venus, Neptune - it's all involved. Definitely the 9H and 3H, too. IP: Logged |

Yep, the guitar class I am taking is on coursera too! My natal third house is in gemini with venus there so I am already naturally inclined to do this stuff, taking classes and all. I guess there is a connection with venus transiting my 9th then maybe. quote: Originally posted by IndigoDirae: Jupiter was going through my 9H when I started going nuts on Coursera. Well a friend sent me some links to download programs where you can make your own music. I thought that was so cool. I have always been intimidated by making music because some people seem so good at it. I want to try it out and see if I can do it in the future. For now, I will just stick to learning the guitar though. elixir, what kind of music do you want to experiment with? Good luck btw.

I can totally relate I want to try to make music too, don't know when yet but I will someday. And like you I'd like to start from learning to play the guitar, bass to be more exact. quote: @i'm so cappy do you do anything with music, or sing maybe?

Yeah, I'm a singer myself, (dramatic coloratura soprano) but I never REALLY got my voice into gear until this year. I've worked rather diligently for the past 9 years, and it's paying off. I'm very versatile with a wide range and some very unique vocal features. That's mostly Mercury, right? I know that Venus and Neptune have a hand in things, too. Music obsesses me. If I'm trying to deal with something, I usually go through an intense songwriting period - or just do a lot of singing. I'm rather theatrical - for a Scorp Merc, (in the 3H, though; I'm also a dramatic writer) but that might be the conjunction to Eros. I love singing intense, passionate stuff, and emote very strongly through my singing. It kinda floors people. Heh. For someone who's practically Spockish, I just come alive in my music (or my acting; I'm a very versatile actor, too.) It's like I hold onto all of it until BAM - it comes out in my music, or my writing; my creativity in general. I landed the role of Harley Quinn for a Batman musical in development when t-NNode hit my Merc-Eros, with Psyche bouncing about on my Moon and t-Venus trining everything and opposing my natal. How perfect is that? I ended up gutting the character, too, and digging in deep. The producers were thrilled. Hey, that's what happens when you give a character to a psychotherapist. We're going to delve like mad into that. I also ended up developing a very unique voice for her, too. Reminiscent of Ellen Greene's Audrey from Little Shoppe. Okay, now I'm just musical-theatre geeking out. Sorry. IP: Logged |

Don't hold back, elixir. My father's a hell of a songwriter, and so I was always naturally intimidated. But when I came to LA, I shocked myself by writing dozens of songs in the last few years - most of them in very intense 72 hour periods. Like, 3 songs, in 3 days. Crazy. All over the place, too: rock, musical, alternative, soulful, kids music (but that one was inspired by my cat) - whatever. I actually begun writing when I was approached by a musician looking for it. I thought, and I quote, 'okay, but I can't write music.' 15 minutes later, I had my first song. Seriously. Actually, what I was saying was, 'I can't write a techno song.' You'd be AMAZED at how easy it is to write a friggin' techno song. So, don't hold yourself back. Grab something that records you can hold in your hand, (I use my iPhone) and keep it handy when you're 'in a writing cycle'. And good luck! If you can make it as a songwriter, man, the royalties are glorious. Everything back-end. Sometimes, you have to sell yourself slightly short to get a deal with a label, but the best advice is to always hold out for the royalties. Even if that means you're getting nothing up front. That's okay. In the future, you can. And to ridiculous tunes of tens of thousands of dollars. PLUS royalties. Songwriting, if done properly, is a legitimate business. So it never hurts to give it a go regardless of how it might result. You never know 'til you try! IP: Logged |

@ indigo, wow you sound so talented... I have mercury in cancer in my 5th, but its square my mars. What do you think that would say about my singing ability? I was in choir for 3 years in middle school but never got any one-on-one attention from my choir director so I don't think I developed my voice much. How old were you when you started working on your voice? I have eros and psyche in taurus second house but they don't aspect anything.IP: Logged |

Thanks for the encouragement, I'll take your advice I've been thinking about moving to L.A. for the past year...how do you like it there? I sort of just want to go because of the weather and it seems so interesting, but I heard commuting is really bad and that makes me wonder if its worth it.IP: Logged |

music is suppose to be the domain of neptune, 12th house, artistic talent is shown by venus/neptune aspects, singing is connected to taurus and 2nd house, but playing an instrument requires skill, i read somewhere all the great guitar players had gemini mars ... well i dont like guitar but i loves pianah http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2-1u8xvk54
as far as transits, neptune crossing your first house would heighten artistic talent for instance on a whole

If I were you I would consider buying FL stuidio or another pro software. You wouldn't have to wait to learn to play any instrument to mess around with sounds.Hey, what about asteroids? Check your Aphrodite, Apollo, Talent, Musa, Orpheus, Euterpe and some composers. ------------------ I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy. IP: Logged |

For the techno song, I literally just popped the song into my iTunes, and ... the words just came into my head. I was dealing with a rough relationship at the time, so I'm sure that helped. (Man. He has SO become That Guy. You know. The one that the chick singer rants about in her music? Augh. I'm such a cliche.) It used to be that I was a straight lyricist. But recently, I've been able to write actual songs. For that, the music was composed, and I was just writing the lyrics and main melody. I'd be happy to share it with you as an example. It's hardly great work, but not bad for literally one hour of my time. I thought this was a fluke, but all of my music is written in spurts like that. And it ALWAYS starts with a sense of, 'oh, man, I can't do this.' And then I do it. It's nuts! I've no idea what's up there.
