So I decided to make it really simple and just start looking at chart compatibility as "more blue lines than red ones" to establish what is overall good or overall poor/challenging compatibility. In doing this exercise, I came to realize that my boyfriend and I have very promising synastry (not much activity though) but a VERY active composite, with 5 red lines and 6 blue ones. It's mixed. Most of the squares in the composite are with Pluto (a few oppositions as well that come from both of us having sun opposite ascendant). What is your take on this? Like, which takes precedence? IP: Logged |

i'm a fan of synastry and could care less for composites. the synastry is the interrelationship of the natals and just makes more sense to look at and study, and you can easily see through synastry what the dynamic will be between a couple - you don't need a composite for that. my contention has always been that without a strong synastry you won't even get to a composite/relationship point. a composite might be useful for long-married or partnered couples, but for average dating couples I think it's bunk :-) i'm sure plenty will disagree though...IP: Logged |

Interesting.I would actually be interested in hearing from people who've been coupled for a long, long time on what their composite looks like or which they feel is more important. There comes a point in life where you just want that. IP: Logged |

Does your composite with your boyfriend have a sun-Saturn square? Rumor has it that's a seriously bad one to have. And what do your Junos do, in synastry and composite? Btw, I made a similar thread last week, Great synastry, horrible composite. It didn't get too many replies, but since you asked for experiences, I will repeat what I wrote there: quote: I had a whirlwind, soulful romance with a guy once; it ended badly. After the fact, I got into astrology and noticed we had a lot of synastry aspects that explained all the attraction...but our composite was like a nightmare waiting to happen. It was just a pile of overlapping t-squares. He broke up with me suddenly when the moon and Venus formed a grand cross with those t-squares.On the other hand, my husband and I have had our difficulties, and we have a sun-Uranus square in synastry which is supposedly the kiss of death, but we have a big 4H stellium, and I've come to think of it like glue. In fact, I've checked lots of composite charts with guys I dated in the past, and the chart I have with my husband most clearly says "marriage" or, at least, living in the same house.
Ceridwen contributed this article that made a lot of sense to me, you might like it, too. http://sasstrology.com/2013/01/when-synastry-and-composite-charts-dont-agree.html IP: Logged |

Thanks, Faith! That's actually extremely helpful. We have sun sextile Saturn in the composite. Actually, Saturn is well-aspected but Pluto is horrificly aspected in the composite with basically everything squaring it (sun, moon, Mercury, Venus, and ascendant) and I do wonder about the significance of this. We both have Juno in the same sign (Sag) but they don't aspect each other. My Juno is 2 degrees from his moon but my understanding is that with asteroids the aspects have to be super-tight. I'm not sure where to look for what they're doing in the composite, though, how to get that chart. I also found your personal story kind of encouraging. My boyfriend and I have all sixth and seventh-house placements in our composite and that basically means partnership/marriage and day-to-day mundanity, right? Sounds good for the long haul. Doesn't YTA have a heavy sixth-house with his wife too? IP: Logged |

What if in composite, Juno conjuncts Saturn 0 degree orb? IP: Logged |

Hmm! So do you have what RunsAroundScreaming calls "the love stellium" in composite? That's a sun-Mercury-Venus conjunction. I'm pretty sure they don't even have to be in the same sign or house, just strung in a row, all within about 10 degrees of each other. The Pluto squares would make me shudder too, but heck, nothing's ever perfect. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me can address it. It could add a lot of passion, though. The orbs for asteroids are 2 degrees and under; if your Juno is on his moon, that's a strong link. I thought YTA and his wife had a loaded 7H in composite, but that might be syastry, I can't remember. My husband and I have an empty 7H in composite, but we've lasted 15 years. We have a Mars-Juno conjunction squaring our 4H Venus and Sun. Some things about our relationship I just can't stand, like I wish I could break free from these same tiresome issues, so I don't think of relationship longevity as highly as I used to, but that's what the composite supposedly reveals: how long you will last together. Best wishes IP: Logged |

Sounds binding, but in a potentially difficult way. It depends on the rest of the chart. IP: Logged |

Yes we have it and it includes the moon as well. I hear you about things you can't stand; we have Mars in the 4th in our composite and I am expecting war sooner or later, unfortunately. I DO idealize longevity, I'll be honest, but not at the expense of other things like fidelity. Look on the bright side; if you endure and work through those issues, your karma will be cleared up so you won't have to live with him again in the next life. IP: Logged |

!!! God I hope so, I can't take too many more lifetimes of this. And heck your 4H Mars could just mean you are really active together...homebuilding or something! IP: Logged | |
