I generally listen to somewhat obscure, hipster/indie stuff. Ethereal, hard-to-understand vocals n sh#t. Synthpop and experimental electronic and dance-punk...Crystal Castles and Grimes and CRIM3S and You Love Her Coz She's Dead. Stuff like that!

But then I also have lots of Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Lana Del Rey, Kesha, and ABBA. Add in a few songs from random artists here and there and the occasional anime and Japanese music and you got my iTunes!

I Classic Soul and/or Blues music. Like Etta James, Muddy Waters, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Temptations, etc. You people DO NOT discuss this kind of music very often at all on here!! Haha

I like gritty, gutteral, powerful music that people sing from the depths of their SOUL. I like *feeling* an EXPLOSION in the artist that I'm listening to, so to speak. Nothing watered down! Classic Rock is also good for this.

If you have a softer voice, it cannot be bland. It must *still* have a strong emotional presence to compliment your delicate sound - like a Karen Carpenter or Patsy Cline.

I dig the Adeles, Winehouses, Jessie J's of London too! Yesss.

I say my -Cancer Moon- plays a large role in this. Pluto *trines* my Moon & *sextiles* my Mars. So I require INTENSITY in the music I listen to. Even with the dance music I'm into, I like it to be BANGIN'

But it doesn't always have to be gritty for me. I love some sweet, smooth vocals too. Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Lena Horne,...
Just as an addition I also LOVE classical music. From Schubert to Rachmaninoff. Even though the composers of the Romantic period and operas have a special place in my heart.
