So what's it like dating someone that's compatible with you vs dating someone that carries what u lack?I haven't been in many relationships but when I dated someone that I was compatible with as far as having placements within the same elements, I didn't tend to grow much. I would be comfortable with them but I didn't find myself getting better.
now I'm dating someone that has what my chart lacks. It's definitely not always a walk in the park, but I've transcended so many bad habits and I've gotten a better picture of myself. Everyday!

I agree with your entire post 110%! I have 5 planets in Scorpio and My Taurus guy has his moon in Taurus, Ascendant in Capricorn, and his Venus/Mars in Cancer. His stability and other earthy qualities helps keep me grounded and mentally sane. Haha. He brings out the best and worse in me, sometimes at the same time. That extreme vulnerability I feel forces me to confront the darker aspects of my personality and allows me to change and evolve into the person I've always wanted to become. He has really changed my life in so many ways already. I used to love Scorpio guys until I met this particular Taurus. Nothing has been the same sense and I love it.IP: Logged |

I agree, especially with squares.
It forces you to either learn to cooperate or break it off.
Incompatible signs within in different modalities can be strange.

Hmm well i havent dated many people either but i can say what its like in friendships.Ive had three friends with their sun and moon squaring my sun and moon. One of those also had his asc squaring my asc. Ive had the most growth with him out of any other friend. He was the one who brought me out of my shell. The other two friends changed my world as well....they still inspire me, but they didnt bring me out of my shell or anything, its just that they rly inspire me. But i had a best friend with her moon trine mine and our ascendants in the same sign, and i have felt most loved by her. It doesnt compare to the friends i mentioned before where they did teach me a lot and a igrew a lot but i was never really super close with them. We were best friends but at a distance. With this person i was best friends and were very close/cuddly/felt ok to be vulnerable.
I feel similar ways about my current two moon in aries guy friends. It's like our sense of humor is rly similar and they are just as playful as i am.
On the other hand i have a best friend with saggie moon and we were never rly very close, probably because our composite doesnt have anything going on. I think squares and oppositions are fun and they open up your world, but its not good for closeness and warmth and intimacy. I only experienced that with my moon trine moon people. Also, i remember crushing rly hard on a venus in taurus guy square my venus in leo and then when i think of all the guys ive liked with venus in aries or leo its very different, i felt much closer to the ones trine my venus. The taurus venus guy was super exciting but at the end of the day we just couldnt get close. I also dated a moon venus and mars in aqua guy recently, while my moon venus and mars are in leo, and it was the love of my life at least until now, but there were many difficulties too. I still think i would fare better with someone whose mars moon and venus conjuncted or trined my own.

A lot of times you have to like personality traits of a sign.
I actually prefer not to be with compatible signs in romantic relationships except aries because I like their traits.So do you like Aries in general or do you find a lot of his traits irksome? IP: Logged |

His traits irk me and fascinate me all at once. Capricorn hates excess so when he's being "extra" he bothers me. But it's so cute.
Arian traits normally bother me, but I think his Libra balances it out. Now the Capricorn in me lovess his Libra! ------------------

There's a kind of beauty to squares and oppositions in synastry. Somehow these people get you to think of things and do things that would never even occur to you on your own. Hard aspects in synastry can be tragic or inspirational. Whatever the case, they're definitely intense, and I agree that they make you learn.I think people differ with regard to the type of synastry they need. But most need a balance of a lot of soft aspects, with some hard ones thrown in there. That way you have common ground but also some 'work' and growth to do together. Sun Sign wise, I'm find feminine signs together with masculine signs the most fascinating. It's probably a yin/yang thing that I'm tuning into. I’m especially intrigued by Fire/Earth and Air/Water couples… They each have a rationality Vs emotions thing going on, as well as a reserved Vs outgoing thing going on. These combos either really learn from each other or drive each other up the wall. When it works I think it’s really cute! After that, I strangely think same sign couples are interesting because they have this 'identification’, mirroring thing going on together. Oppositions are interesting in a way too, but for some reason I find them a little less interesting then conjunctions. I probably find sextile and trine Sun sign pairs to be the least intriguing. They just seem like such an obvious choice. That being said, if the rest of their synastry is interesting to me for some reason, I can admire a trine or sextile couple for that reason. Keep in mind these are just my biased personal opinions. I’m a Capricorn and I love Fire sign energy in others, especially Aries and Sagittarius.

I feel the same way about Fire/earth relationships and air/water relationships!My bf has no water and I'm water dominant. He fills the fire and air void for me. I've learned so much about handling my emotions from his air influence. ------------------

Meh, I still had that feeling with someone who's signs trined mine (Sun / Sun, Moon / Moon/ Venus/ Venus) but our Mercuries didn't aspect, and I felt that way. So... I'm opposing you and saying that's predominantly a Mercurian issue. The people who seem to cause growth in me are either opposing or trining my Moon specifically, OR their Sun and/or Moon are in mutable signs, and those align with my IC/MC, DSC. IP: Logged |

I've dated a lot and the best relationships are the compatible ones. I have learned a TON through oppositions and squares, but i'm at a point where peace is warranted, so bring on conjunctions and trines! the compatibility and sparks are still there and soooo much better because they are just naturally comfy. I mean how many times do you need life lessons and growth through dating before you 'get it' and realize that happiness should be EASY?IP: Logged |

I've only dated one person whose sun sextiles my sun. The sparks died very quickly. It was a dull affair. People whose sun signs trine mine often don't get a rise out of me either. I like romantic relationships with other cardinals suns, and I especially love it when they have stelliums that square or oppose mine. Friction, conflicts, fights, head-butting keep the sparks alive and help me to grow. Throw in a few trines/sextiles/conjunctions for emotional comfort and that "fluffy" feeling. My s.o's sun squares mine by sign and oppose my moon (2.47). My sun trines his moon (3.16). Our ascendant conjunct (0.48). I'm airvoid. His sun is in libra, 1st house aqua jupiter.

Through my experience I agree with you. It's nice to have everything in common but it gets so boring! I strongly believe that the best combination would be a yin yang synastry, two people with the opposite Ascendants but with some connecting aspects, so you can get full spiritual growth on both sides and some common ideals, hobbies or dreams to keep them connected through time. ------------------

I'm a 9H Pisces Sun and my fiance is an 8H Aquarius Sun. I'm pretty much air void unless you want to count my Libra IC and Gem Chiron. He's Air/Water dominant and I'm Fire/Water dominant.I can't count the lessons I've learned from him and I being together. We also share compatibility, though. Like my Venus sextile his Sun/Merc/Venus and his Mars trine my Sun/Merc. I think that when you find one of "the ones" out there for you you'll find that not only do they fill what you lack, but are also compatible with what you have. IP: Logged |

I actually believe in a *BALANCE* of both. I think since my personality is so complex, I simply don't see this particular subject as black OR white here.
