Is there actually anything good about pluto?

I could have written this exact thing and it's true what you said about non-emotional signs being made psycho by Pluto in synastry, too. I'm in the first healthy relationship I've ever been in (we have had our differences but nothing like the psychotic stuff with my ex) and it's also the very first relationship without Plutonian volatility in our synastry. I don't miss it at all and god forbid I break up with my boyfriend (I don't see that happening he's a Capricorn stellium and we have a lot of Saturn between us) I would avoid Pluto like the plague.

However, I think Plutonian relationships are often destroyed during the process of "transformation" of one or both people.

All the ones I've had so far were intense but quite brief.

I'm not sure Pluto bodes well for long-term, "stable" relationships; unless both people are very self-aware and don't engage in power plays. Which is easier said than done, apparently.

Funny you should mention, tThe simple compatibility tool used by CafeAstrology and 0800-Horoscope says of Venus-Pluto relationships that they are "most certainly not lasting."

yeah well it`s not true though.

However, the question if relationships last or not (and what is the magical timeframe we can say they DO last. 5 years? 10 years? Whole life long?), is not dependent on Venus-Pluto.

Venus-Pluto can be wonderful (depending on the natal charts), but what really determines how two people get along are the personal planets in aspect to each other.

Relationships based ONLY on aspects of Uranus, Neptune or Pluto to Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, ASC and MC are most certainly valuable intense (and sometimes painful)growthexperiences, but if there is no substance in the personal interaspects there is nothing to build upon, and once the kathartic element has been dealt with, the transformation has been brought into being, people wil usually break up (and in the case of Pluto, it will hurt like hell because of the remembrance of the passion they once shared).

However if the personal planets are in good contact with each other and the foundation is there, Venus-Pluto or other Pluto aspects, even and especially challenging aspect, can fuel the intense feelings of belonging even more.

Probably it helps if people are used to Pluto natally, unless of course they do not like their natal Pluto, then any synastry featuring this aspect would be like poking in a never really healed wound.

Ceridwen, I think you put it pretty aptly. If there is nothing to build upon (like an absence of Saturn or sun-moon contacts, for instance) a breakup will ensue and Plutonian relationship breakdowns just somehow feel worse.

But even if the relationships DO last a long time, I just find Pluto in synastry (my experience is specifically with Venus-Pluto, I had this in several relationships) to feel uneasy, uncomfortable, almost like it made me feel nauseous. As an Aqua, the feeling of desperation and the pressure-cooker feeling where it could explode at any time is most unwelcome.

Aqua,

"If there is nothing to build upon (like an absence of Saturn or sun-moon contacts, for instance) a breakup will ensue and Plutonian relationship breakdowns just somehow feel worse."
Yes, exactly.

"But even if the relationships DO last a long time, I just find Pluto in synastry (my experience is specifically with Venus-Pluto, I had this in several relationships) to feel uneasy, uncomfortable, almost like it made me feel nauseous. I can understand that. But it is a highly individual choice.

For me personal no relationship without Sun/Moon-Saturn or Venus/Pluto really lasts.
It is like I don´t really care for them that much, as they can`t reach deep enough to touch that point in me, where I feel emotionally involved. and I want to be emotionally involved.

So, of course I also experience them as uncomfortable at times, but at the same time the feeling of sincerity, commitment and depth is what I feel very much at home with.

Actually I was on the phone with my best friend yesterday, we noticed that our friendship will have lasted for 25 years by next year. (I am 38, she is 36). lol

It never has been an easygoing smooth good weather friendship, but there was always a lot of soulsearching involved, and yes it felt uncomfortable sometimes, cause both of us touched on where it hurt and felt raw and vulnerable inside. No way of hiding away from each other.

People are still amazed to hear that we are STILL best friends. lol

My Saturn squares her MOon exactly and sextiles her Sun
Her Saturn opposites my Moon

my Pluto conjuncts her Mercury, Venus and Mars. Her Pluto squares my Venus.

thank heavens for the exact Moon-Moon-sextile, right?

But this is what both of us need (me: Moon-quinkunx Saturn; Venus-square-Pluto).

(her: Saturn trine Moon; Pluto conjuncts Mercury, Venus, Mars, opposite Moon and squares ASC)

Of course Pluto is al
so generational

But for us it was the echo we needed and that resonated with our individual disposition.

I imagine for someone without these aspects or with more dominance on Venusian or even Uranian and Neptunian energies or without any of the heavy outer planetary effects, that would feel like a drag, and the friendship would not have survived the first year. lol

Cause if either of us realy just needed a friend to hang around with, go to parties and the like, that would not have worked. Not at all. lol

Thank you for your input Ceri, it's put me at ease.

I have my DSC in Libra with Pluto in the 7th House. My greatest love had Venus conjunct Pluto natally. A potential partner right now has Venus conjunct Pluto 1st House natally and I think that isn't a coincidence. Even though people may see it as a really bad aspect, some of us just need that energy.
