i.e. let's say you have leo asc and an empty 1st house, and your sun is conj uranus in the 2nd house sag. Here the characteristics of uranus aspecting your sun would apply to you (if there aren't any other factors that would change this), but what about the fact that uranus is aspecting your chart ruler?

To answer the above quesion, I'm assuming is that you'd have uranian topics as a dominant life theme, just like how the house your sun resides in would show what your life would be focused on (values, materials, etc). Since no planets are in the 1st, would that mean that the aspects to the chart ruler would be represented more easily- meaning would it affect how the ascendant is represented (in terms of appearance and mannerisms)?

OR would the sign the chart ruler is in take precedence?

BUT the chart ruler is extra important, and the sign & house it's in and the aspects it makes are super duper important, as well.
At least from what I've observed.

My chart ruler only conjunct my Sun and yes, I like attention and need recognition (could be a 5H Moon thing though) and overall seem to be confident (even if I'm not). That's the effect of the Sun, even if it's buried in the 6H and in a dark sign like Scorpio.

Mine is the moon- it conjuncts jupiter, uranus, and neptune.

ETA: another thought: my Sun rules my 5H so the 5H is again emphasized. ASC + 5H/Sun theme.

Yep, that matches what I've found- the importance part that is- but I'm still trying to figure out how it plays out. Is it like an NN aspect?

My ruler is my mutable singleton and it's also in detriment so it's kinda complicated. I only have one major, easy, not tight aspect to it (sextile) which has a very subtle influence. I feel the sign my ruler is in a lot but it's also my IC.

Chart ruler: the planet that rules the sign of your ASC.

Ex: Virgo ASC - Virgo is ruled by Mercury, so your chart ruler (or ASC ruler) is Mercury.

I don't think the chart ruler should be known as the ascendant sign, this isn't always right. Pluto is the strongesst influence in me only after my Tropical Cap Moon, 1st House Ophiuchus Sun, Dr Gemini Moon & Dr Aries Sun. Mars or Saturn i would say are my chart rulers ... why should the energy you give off be what rules you? (thats all the ascendant is) and not what is personal to you ? (Sun/Moon)

It's in the 2nd house and it squares Mercury and Saturn. It's only saving grace is a trine from Venus.
