Let me give a few examples of my experiences:

A guy, let's call him Chris [chinese sign: Rat, neutral to snake, neither good nor bad] Moonit gives us a 90% in love and an 80% in friendship. We've been good friends for 4 years but never contact each other, yet when we do it's like no time passed. We aren't extremely close but there's a bond that time doesn't erase. Yet, we obviously don't need each other or feel a compelling need to be around each other because we don't text or hang out often, maybe once a year. In composite we have a love stellium square pluto and saturn, and conjunct jupiter. In synastry we have sun conjunct moon, moon conjunct moon, and moon square pluto. Our moonit is true for us...it says that it's all rainbows and roses between us and that we rarely argue. That's very true...whenever I'm upset with him he apologizes right away and makes everything nice. But we aren't ever lovey dovey or extra sweet, just kind. I feel close to him but again it's not that he's my best friend or that we have a deep bond.

A guy, let's call him Ben [chinese sign: Horse, my peach blossom (love/hate)]- we have a 97% in love, and a 95% in friendship. It says we are supposed to be uber sweet to each other, always smiling, and attuned to each other's needs and lovey dovey.
Our composite is a love stellium square pluto. Sun conjunct moon in synastry and some other sextiles and trines...no squares or oppositions, and nothing too significant.
When I first saw him I was kind of like "ew" and it took me a couple of times hanging out with him to start feeling attracted to him. Our chemistry as in, having things to talk about, is very slim. And we have a love stellium, it's true that we do love each other. And the love calculator is on point---very lovey dovey, always protective of me and extra sweet. But neither of us feels compelled to text each other often or to want to date though there is a mutual attraction. We aren't even best friends or that close.

A guy, let's call him Jim [chinese sign: Monkey, my soulmate sign]- Moonit gave us a 94% in love and 70% in friendship. It said we inspired everyone around us because we were so sweet to each other and that we were the air underneath the other's wings and have a close emotional bond. Sun conjunct jupiter opp saturn in composite with moon semisquaring pluto. In synastry sun conjunct moon, his sun opp my uranus, moon sq venus, venus sq pluto, and nothing else too significant going on. We got very close as friends, no attraction but we were very very close for a while. The moonit description is definitely very true. Yet it also said extremely cute and similar things for me and "Ben, and even though that was true for me and Ben we weren't anywhere near as emotionally close as me and this guy.

Me and my longtime crush since I was around 6yrs old, lets call him Bob . [chinese sign: Pig, my opposite and most combatant sign] Moonit gave us a 97% in love (same as me and Ben) and a 75% in friendship. It said very sweet things about us, just like me and Ben. In composite we have sun sextile moon opposite neptune and nothing else going on. In synastry is where it's all happenin...venus conjunct mars, DW moon trine pluto, DW moon trine neptune, DW moon trine saturn, Venus trine uranus, sun conjunct jupiter, venus square pluto. The moonit stuff is, again, very true...we were always very sweet to each other. But, we also kind of hate each other (notice the composite is bad and composites are what make people feel bonded). He is only nice to me when he wants, he can be very mean or cold, and we aren't very bonded, we aren't even friends.

My ex, let's call him Ron. [chinese sign: Monkey, my soulmate sign] Moonit gave us a 30% in love and a 77% in friendship. Our composite was the best composite I've ever had, the tightest love stellium I've ever had with anyone square pluto, and moon conjunct pluto which gives a strong bond, also venus opposite mars, and mars conjunct pluto (that one is not so good). In synastry we have dw moon square pluto, dw venus opp mars, mars opp mars, sun opposite uranus, and venus square pluto. When we first saw each other you could tell there was an attraction, and he followed me after the first day of class so he could talk to me, and would chase me out the door everyday after class after that, sometimes running to catch up to me. Moonit said he would always make me feel like roadkill, like he wasnt interested. And it's true, from our very first date he would do everything that showed extreme interest like chase me etc and be very affectionate, but he would have a hard time actually expressing emotions. His personality would change from cold and reserved to lovey dovey and sparkly eyed. Yet we were extremely bonded, texting every hour of the day even after having been broken up for months, and always holding hands, as well as cuddling in public. It's true that in the end he always made me feel like roadkill, but it seemed to be something he couldn't help, like his ego wouldn't let him express vulnerability, at least continuously.

Ex number two, let's call him Tim. [chinese sign: Rooster, trine my sign] We had a love stellium square pluto and saturn and conjunct jupiter, and in synastry we had sun conjunct moon and moon square pluto. Moonit gave us an 80% saying we were very close but that the relationship though very harmonious was kind of boring and didnt offer any challenges. That was definitely true. However, I believe because of the combination of our composite with our chinese signs, and the decent enough synastry, we were attracted at first sight and got close very fast just like me and my other ex, even though we weren't nearly as close as me and the monkey were.

Guy I recently met, let's call him Bill. [chinese sign: Dog, not too compatible with snake] In composite we have a semisextile love stellium conjunct mars, moon semisquare pluto, and venus trine pluto. In synastry we have DW sun-venus (sun conjunct venus, and sun semisextile venus), DW moon-pluto (moon square pluto and moon trine pluto), his mars square my venus, sun trine saturn, and venus trine pluto. Moonit gives us a 99% for love which is soulmates and 80% for friendship. When I first met him I was like "ew...but hm maybe a little cute on second glance" I didn't think much of our conversation, but we did instantly connect and start telling each other personal things about our lives. Venus trine pluto in synastry is very accurate for us, we did come into each other's lives in a time when we were going thru a crossroads or crisis, and he even acknowledged that he thinks there was a purpose to our meeting. However, I didn't really feel an attraction, it felt more like friends, and I think he felt that way as well. He never texts, but I text him a lot, and when he replies he is very very sweet putting smilies all over the place. I think he is going to stop replying now though, indefinitely. It took some days for me to realize that my feelings for him were stronger than I thought even though I only met him once. Yet, since our attraction or bond wasn't instant like it was with my two exes, I wouldn't say that we have or will have a deep bond. He seemed kind of cold and weird to me (I see all Dogs in chinese astro that way, that's why they're incompatible with snake).

So all in all, from these observations, what can you gather?....what seems to make people truly care for each other, want to contact each other frequently and build something solid? A strong composite combined with compatible chinese signs.

What gives substance and chemistry to an already nice composite? Synastry

What gives the recurring theme in the relationship and how the other person frequently makes you feel? Moonit love calculator.

Can you have a deep bond with someone and need to be with them (good composite and chinese sign) even though you recurringly make each other feel crappy? (ie your moonit score is bad) Yes...perfectl example is my ex.

Can you have a superb moonit score with someone and yet not feel very bonded to them and not feel like seeing them often? Yes indeed, if your chinese sign isnt great with theirs then I feel it will eventually end like this. The bond will be looser.

They are going to celebrate their 40th anniversaray coming may, and my Dad willt ake my Mum to Rome, because that is where they spent their honeymoon all these years ago.
And in everyday life?
Sure they clash now and then (Aquarius and Scorpio temperaments, you know?), but underneath it all is a strong flow of love. They still are holding hands while taking walks, enjoy spending time with each other, as a matter of fact have not been apart from each other for more than a week during the whole time (and that was because of my Dad`s job at the time).

So, in this case the calculator didnīt seem to quite cover it.

But then again no Vedic astrologer would have matched those two either.

Anyway, all of this reasoning aside, I had a look at the synastry and composite and moonit.

So the moonit-calculator sais this:

I was rather generous with orbs today (8 degree limit), BUT only really consider anything strong over 4 or 5 degrees, which simultaneously comes with a parallel or contraparallel (1 degree orb).

We got a good 75%, but the review wasn't true. This part especially made me laugh:
"To an outsider, it might seem like you don't care about each other because you don't get all touchy-feely like other couples do. " We are one of those annoying couples who hold hands while walking, stop in a middle of the shop for some make-out session, and pinch each others rare backs whenever we feel like it.
