This time of year here, well especially January, people are very optimistic. A natural reaction to the sunshine and warmth. that down time spoken about here is more of a June/July thing where I am. I honestly believe the sun really does light up your spirit. All that beautiful vitamin D.
Having said that, there are HUGE transformations and shifts happening to people on a global scale now. I'm wondering what could explain this astrologically?! So the energy does feel heavy.

Yes!

And yes!

And yes!! A lot going on. Letting go of what does not serve us anymore. Observe.

^^ exactly right.

But I'm curious as to what the planets are doing to explain this??

We've never experienced this before in our lifetime.
People are being forced to become conscious.

I know, you said so. But I thought "should I or could I answer?" I cannot. And is it important to have the answer? Like mentally? My personal feeling is that not everything is explained by only the planets. There is only so much we can see and there is a lot out there we didn't yet discover or are conscious of. They have a role in this as all is one. I also think/feel we are more than that. We can overcome all that as well as we are not only human. All that is, is larger than anything we can imagine. It's never ending! We are talking about our own solar system which is small. If we feel we're influenced by Pluto which is far away naturally we can be influenced by something further away as the natural state of us is also eternal. Rant, rant...

Still, maybe someone has an answer and a simple one.

Actually yes you've got a good point there.
There are new solar systems opening up, new worlds and planets being discovered which would completely go beyond any astrology we've ever known.
Woah. Freaky.

Let's enjoy the ride while we can

Yeah, I broke up with my boyfriend - with whom I was having the HAPPIEST relationship of my life with - just last week. I've had highs and lows in that time for sure. I'm at a definite low today, missing him like crazy, with saturn squaring my Sun right now.

In general, I'm also going through Saturn square venus and mars currently, and Pluto entered my 12th house a month or so ago, also causing upheaval. It has been a very very confusing and hard time.

Let's all get through this, shall we?

yes, I was definitely depressed last year in February, and slowly got more optimistic as spring hit.

I'm feeling super down lately. I keep getting in fights with my older sister, which lead us to not talk.

I went to a party, and I wasn't even exited to go. I just wanted to keep sleeping.

Lately nothing makes me feel good.

I have two days off of work, hoping this time to myself will help.

It could also just be a case of seasonal depression. Winter seasons cause higher depression rates. This is one reason why Alaska has the highest suicide rate since they experience a winter-like environment virtually all the time.

But you are not alone. I've been down lately as well. I'm RARELY ever in the 'dumps'...I'm usually spaced out to things and never bothered by much. I've been extremely isolated and friends have not responded back to me...so the loneliness is getting to me to the point where I go to bed not able to sleep...I also have Saturn transiting my 1st house so..
Help us all

I definitely think I have a touch of SD.

I loved playing in the snow as a kid, but as a teen/adult all I see it white plops sh!tt!ng on the world, my car, and me! It really intensifies the feeling of feeling like you're getting **** on all the time!
