I don't know, maybe.
Makes sense because Virgos like sticking to what they're good at, and people usually will know more about their own gender than the opposite gender. So they feel more comfortable with the same sex.

But I still don't see how this is linked with romance, specifically.

Because this happens to me a lot. I am a straight female but I love talking to women and being with them. I don't like the idea of being around one for long, they eventually get on my nerves. Since I am good with them for intervals people have thought I was gay just because of that. Then I go out with a guy and then they realize I am not and they say you obviously aren't gay then lol. Virgos can confuse others.

Because now that I think about it, Geminis will give hints and signals that they're straight because they will say oh this guy is cute, etc. While Virgos wouldn't, but this is probably because of the Virgo's nature to not be open about their personal business like that.
