Hi Everyone-

I have been scouring this site for more information on "Saturn" synastry bonds as Allen Edwall calls them. I have quite a few Saturn synastry aspects with my love. The one aspect that seemed most intriguing to me is our "Sun Opposite Saturn" --which he describes as..."a Sun-Saturn bond is hard to break."

My feeling is that the saturn influences in our chart are binding us together for long-term not obsession. Anyone have this aspect and can shed some light on this aspect?

I have the square with my guy (I'm saturn) and it's double whammy cause his saturn trines my sun…. we have been together for about half a year only, but still going strong
I don't know what will happen to us in the future, but I've noticed that it's extremely easy for me to seem like a strict person towards him. Even if I'm joking he may think I'm being harsh sometimes, or a little too serious.
So it's extremely important to me not to seem that way, but it's hard sometimes because he really got some problems:P His problem is that he is really messy and I'm not, so I have to make him clean… I'll try to say it in a nice way, and I think he understands so this is a minor problem to us…
Our sun-mercury double whammy conjunction helps us communicate though….it feels like nothing can go really wrong between us because of that

We have also have Saturn square Saturn, Mars square Saturn, and Venus Conj Saturn...He's mostly the Saturn person except for the last aspect--he's venus. I definitely feel the weight, the restriction coming from him. He harps on me about practicality: being on time is the biggest issue (he's Virgo Sun/Virgo Mars), my driving skills, my discipline of my child ( I treat her like my equal not my subordinate), and overall says I'm too nice to people...that I can often get stomped on by people...But the flipside, we are totally in love. I want to be with him every day, every moment and he too.

We've had these talks where I tell him he's not my teacher and if he wants to give me advice, just please do in a nice tone. Not fatherly. He says I do this too and I know I do. Bossy I am.

Good luck to us both!

Question, is there a limit on how wide the orb can be? If the orb is too wide is the aspect not as "binding"?

I think it may be better if they Runneth Over with the more positive Aspects of Saturn.

Saturn is glue but i'm not sure Sun-Saturn is the best form of glue. In opposition, you'll feel uncomfortably to be going opposite directions but then again both are more willing to work towards a common goal. I wouldn't consider it to be super binding aspect. Trines/conjunctions maybe.

We are going strong two years...we challenge each other all the time. I feel like he is it for me and boy, I have never said that about anyone. I guess if it weren't challenging and require some work mixed with some great sizzle, I would get bored and go elsewhere, I am a Gemini through and through...

? you gotta explain that. From all I've seen the sun is often involved. It's better with the sun than venus…venus/saturn adds some coldness, but patience to a relationship...

Please explain this to me as well. We have Venus Conj Saturn too. I thought this was a harmonious aspect--so says the chart. lol

Saturn admires venus a lot, and is willing to wait forever, but venus sense the coldness in saturn and is more hesitating…sometimes venus feels rejected by saturn, even though saturn isn't rejecting venus at all…and then saturn can feel insecure by venus and is holding back feelings, which venus thinks are ridiculous…

I have it in composite, and I can feel it's bad traits sometimes, but mostly it also gives me a sense of inner peace, because I know what I feel and I'm not gonna stray anytime soon…it's binding because saturn is so sure he loves venus and wanna do everything to keep venus tight

Just because two people share Saturn aspects doesn't necessarily mean they'll be together for a long time (of course there could be other aspects that would contribute to it not lasting)

So in that regard does that just mean you'll be stuck thinking about this person for a long time..like never able to get over them?

Yeah, I know that I'm not assuming this is forever though I may want it to be. I did see a psychic about it and she said that it can be life-long if I let it; however, to not become the motherly role in the relationship--to try to refrain from falling into this.

Do you have any recommendations on resources to learn more about Saturn?

I doubt it, seriously doubt it if it is double whammy and a lot of personal planets involved…but only time will show!

Me too. I read on Cafeastrology a little bit about these Saturn synastry and they don't seem to be an area to be taken lightly. Just my feeling though.

Ok, well to be honest when I asked that question I had my last failed relationship in mind lol. It only lasted about for like a month or so. It was heavy from the beginning with the idea that it'd be a serious relationship in that regard the Saturn energy was present.

His Saturn is only opposing my Sun and conjuncting my Jupiter, while mine is only squaring his moon. Part of me does feel like it's not over..but then that could just be all of the neptune squares that plague our synastry as well (wishful thinking?) Even though part of me hopes we just stay broken up, because I don't want him to hurt me if we get back together and then he changes his mind again. I am proud of myself though I have kept up NC with him..but I just can't shake the feeling that we're not done dealing with each other yet and I just can't stop thinking about him and wondering if he's thinking about me too.

Well…there you go:P I have tons of neptune squares with my guy too:/ My neptune squares his sun, and his neptune squares my mercury…and in composite we have sun, mercury and venus square neptune:/
So maybe I'm wishful to, it's hard to say!

And I don't know if you end up together again? Weren't you the one who had like a very good synastry?
I also think about the way you two broke up…it was very saturnian! If it was completely over there would have been a rage, and arguments, something to make the other not wanting to come back ever again, cause there are not welcome and blabla…but you just kinda disappeared right? Thats so typical of neptune/saturn relationships I think…making a lot of questions and bridges that are still burning!

So it's likely you two aren't finished yet, very likely!

ah the changing his mind--that would scare me too. Take care of you. I was in a similar relationship didn't know if he were coming or going so I got to going...thinking of him often and wish him well. For two years off and on, I could not break free. I finally found my pride somewhere and moved on. Painful though...wishing and hoping...My current bf and I have been slow and steady...and after two years finally said I love you's to each other...so it was never a rush we both moved slowly and the intensity is building emotionally, I mean. The rest was good to go from the beginning, sex, mentally, and adventure...

Thanks guys, well he's a Cancer moon and I discovered that Venus was opposing his moon the day we got together and then opposing his moon again the day we broke up but at a slightly higher degree...so yea..he may well change his mind again and decide to get back together.

I said some pretty mean stuff though as we parted ways, BUT I just learned today that Sun-Saturn aspects can reflect your relationship with your father. The only other male that has his Saturn opposing my sun is the father of my children and again, I've said some pretty mean stuff to him, cut him off (just as recently as a month ago) and he always forgives me and get's over it. Almost like a father forgives his kid for misbehaving. You still love them even if they **** you off. Funnily enough we have all of the same Neptune squares in our synastry too...and now that I REALLY think on things, we were always forever feeling like we're were "done" with each other, but never actually being "done" we were together for 6 almost 7yrs.

So time will tell I guess..

I think it also depends on the natal chart… both me and my guy have a lot of pisces, libra and virgo. They are more sensitive signs, so I don't have a problem with being delusional, romantic and too sweet/making promises I can't keep up with.
I just believe Neptune is much easier to handle in synastry than saturn. Maybe it's delusional, but at least there is a LOT warm feelings and love, romantic times and fantasy.
Saturn is just cold and realistic and strict. With time, the warm feelings disappear and you only got the strict, realistic truth left.
I've remember that I read a lot about saturn aspecting sun and venus once.
It seems to be really present in marriage, but it could also simply mean that one person in the marriage is not really feeling it anymore, but isn't going to leave, because that saturn is just too stubborn, realistic and binding. But there is no love, no warmth….

As a normal case, the personal Planets will tell you of the initial attraction and the immediate atmosphere surrounding that.

To see how it will fare in Time to come, you look at the Saturn Aspects, because that is most lasting, Time has the final say.

So, for the future of the tie, look to the Saturn Aspects.

I gathered that for long-term pairings it stems from Saturn. Can any of you suggest any ready material regarding Saturn?
