Since it seems like a lot of people just read their sun-sign horoscope in a newspaper and come to the conclusion that astrology must be fake. What was it that made you think "hmm, maybe I should explore this topic further"?

And, do you believe in anything else 'strange'? (ghosts, vampires, magic, past lives etc)

I'm not sure.
It was a long time ago (well, maybe not *that* long ago but my memory sucks, so).

I think I've always had an interest in the occult. It was like a strong innate pull.

It all started with the daily "Horoscopes" and then I quickly discovered the deeper side of astrology - mainly through the Internet.
I don't remember anyone talking about astrology in a serious way, though.
It just found me! haha.

Ahhh man, I still remember the days when I was trying to draw my natal chart... there were several possiblities on different websites back then. The accuracy wasn't spectacular. I remember at first, I thought I had a Cancer ASC. Then I saw all the planets in houses and thought "What... the... hell?! What's that all about?" and then I saw my 6th house stellium.... and of course I wanted to read all about it. It was soooo depressing! When I first discovered my chart, it literally threw me into an existential crisis: "OMG I'm destined to be a loser! It's even written IN THE STARS!! *sob*" (typical Saturn reaction, actually I'm pretty sure I was having a Saturn square Saturn transit at the time, or something like that).

So err, yeah, that's it for some background story, haha.

I don't really believe in other "strange" things, though. I do believe in spirits and I believe in God but I'm not sure about the specifics. It's all so very mysterious and having Neptune in the 9th house doesn't help making it seem clearer, ha.
People do talk about ghosts, OBE's and all that... So I'm sure there's something to it. I think energy is pretty much what makes the world go 'round and it's everywhere, so we gotta be careful with our own personal use of "energy".

And naturally Astrology reflects the nature of the different energies. IMO.

Being Eastern Asian, I'm familiar with divination and spirituality, so that the horoscopes were interesting back then even if I was not too into it. Back then I was also interested in tarot and other divinations, thought it was never too deep. Then after started dating, somehow I began to dig deeper about natal charts and compatibilities, and I've found LL too lol.

Basically, I believe in reincarnation, and that we are all souls on different journeys. And I believe in astrology since it has been working so far for me, with great accuracy.

My friend guessed my Sun sign correct on the first try about 2 years ago.

Before that, I hardly knew anything about Astrology. I didn't even know it had to do with the personality. I thought it was just some newspaper predictions. So I was never able to make the decision if it was fake or not. I was just told that I was a Virgo.

Astrology was just completely absent in my life. Never able to criticize it, nor look into it - until after my friend brought it up by guessing my Sun sign.

The funniest thing about that was, is that he said he could tell that I'm a Virgo because I'm competitive and try to get good at everything.

LMAO, he was picking up my Leo Ascendant with the competitive part

I think he guessed right because he was a Virgo as well, but he had a Leo Mercury and Moon, (but he did not know that, he only knew of Sun signs - I checked his chart after) so he just looked at me and seen himself. (he seen my Leo Ascendant's similarities with his Moon and Mercury)

The way it came to me, through books etc and the timing of which, and the way it makes me feel.
Reading my in depth natal chart gave me deep insights into my soul/self that no one or nothing else on this Earth has been able to do to such accuracy. Science, western medicine, none of it could make sense of me or help me in any way. Then astrology comes along and the inter-connectedness and complexity is so astounding accurate and amazing and soul touching.
Nothing can pierce the cloud of confusion like astrology.
Still very difficult to overcome issues even with astrology, it's definitely a tool, but the work must still be done by the self, something I am questioning my ability to do more and more lately.

edit: oh yeah. I also believe in all sorts of things that most don't, including, but not exclusive to, "magic", past lives/reincarnation/multidimensional lives, other realms/dimensions, inter-dimensional beings, energies, etc, the unreal seems more real than the "real" to me.
I do have reason for my beliefs however.
And I believe in Truth, that there is always MORE truth to be found to any statement, there is no one, encompassing answer to anything, only more truths to be found.

The accuracy of how true some of it is. Things that you could never really explain somehow make sense.

I couldn't understand why the astrological explanation resonate with ppl so I read more about it.... But also since I'm very aqua, the sun sign description is pretty accurate for me!

Okay, i'm not going to lie...I'm a Leo and I love reading about myself, hahaha.

I never really read daily horoscopes but I did read long descriptions on my sun sign and I was always super proud of being a Lion. Then, I bought some book that went in depth with just about everything and I was hooked.

My first time hearing about zodiac signs was while getting my hair done in a beauty salon. Everyone gave there signs and when they got to me I didn't know (I was 19 at the time). One of the hairstylist asked my birthday and said "Oh, you're a Pisces. You guys are really good people". Of course I read my profile (she had a book in the salon) and agreed with it as far as creativity, compassion, sensitive, not so much the gullible, but definitely a day dreamer and hopelessly optimistic : ) I read the compatibility report on my Aquarius boyfriend and thought....OMG this is real. I never looked back til this day I want to know people's sign. I just recently looked into planets, houses, and asteroids and even moon and rising sign. It only got better and more accurate and confirmed so many things for me.

I remember one or two occasions when I was a kid 7 or 8 years old where an adult would mention something about their sun signs. I started buying books or anything that related to astrology at that age. I've been interested in mysticism since I was little. My first two friends, one male one female were both scorpio's. The boy was my downstairs neighbour, he was native American and the first time I met him he told me he was a 100yr old Warlock, lol. I think he was my first love.

It wasn't til early adulthood that I started learning more deeply about other aspects (besides trines), and using cafe astrology etc.. this past year I've gotten even more deeply involved.

Its hard to say what convinced me because its always been prevalent in my life. Though I will ask myself these types of questions from time to time.

Not really a believer in mythical beings like vampires etc. Though as a cultural archetype I can appreciate them.

Ghosts, alternate dimensions, astral projection, pasts lives I'm very open minded about but not in such concrete defined terms.

Yup. I was about 11 years old, and picked up my mom's old copy of Sun Signs. I read the description of Pisces, and it was spot-on for me. After that I started reading more Linda Goodman, and then more astrology books.

My interest in astrology has always been keen, but learning more in-depth about it is often sporadic.

Yeah, ditto! My mom was never into astrology either. But I picked up her LG book, and there it all was.

I started with sun signs, and wondered why the description of my personality was so accurate for myself but not the other people I knew. I would come across articles that mentioned things like "depending on aspects made to the sun," and "what house the sun is in," that led me, in typical, curious gemini fashion to find out more. Turns out, I have sun in gem conjunct my ascendant, and mercury in gem. Ahhhh, no wonder the descriptions of gemini fit more accurately than the other gems I know. That prompted me to go deeper and deeper. I have saturn in libra in a tight trine to my sun/ascendant, so I'm not a typical gem in the sense that I only skim topics, and chase the next shiny ball to roll by.

I'm a recent believer in past lives!

I did a Chex cereal puzzle with the Planet Glyphs. (I love Wheat Chex)

I put it together about a bizillion times.

It was actually a Palmistry one, with Tarot Keys as well...

Of course, as above, mom had Astrology Books.

Linda Goodman

Grant Lewi

Joan Quigley

I commandeered them all, and used the Grant Lewi to do charts, I had notebooks with everybody's Signs in the Symbol form.

I was between ten and twelve, I think.

Oh, and then when "Star Signs" came out, I bought it for my mother's birthday.

It was so good that I commandeered it as well...

Still remember how ticked I was when She pushed me into tearing out that Chaldean Numeral list, I HATE defacing books.

Called that one, for sure, ha!

I have always known about astrology since I was a child, because my father is an astrologer… and it always interested me a lot!
One day I wanted to know more, and he told me that I have a pisces moon and cancer ascendant. All I knew back then was that I though pisces was cool, because the guy I was in love with was a pisces. Sometimes he told me the characteristics of pisces and I was just eager to hear more, but I didn't tried to sound like I was interested.
But secretly I discovered the rest of my chart on the internet, the house system and learned how to read a chart, not draw it myself though…I haven't come that far yet, there is still a lot to know.
The last year I discovered lindaland and it's like my knowledge exploded! I began to learn about aspects, house rulers and dominant planets…I think I know a lot myself, but I still don't know enough at all!
I was like 7 years when I heard about the signs, 13 years when I found out my big 3 and 17 years when I first saw my chart… 23 when I entered lindaland, and now I'm 24!

Some 8 years ago I ended up staying in a place for a 6 month where a woman astrologer, who passed, lived...The place was full of astrology books which I started to read because i was bored and not much in to watching TV..The more i read, more infected I become. Like some gate opened and I was soddenly able to see more then ever before. Since then I am totally sure that astrology if a key to everything only we need to learn to use that key in the correct way..or maybe even not. Maybe we mess up with higher powers then..Dont know.

A guy teaching me western mysticism included astrology for magic, and his aunt also loaned me books by Linda Goodman. After awhile I got curious and did up I think 3 charts, maybe 5, with all but one random placements and then one done for real. The randomly chosen placements didn't fit me, the one that was correct did. I used many books to do it with, and later I followed up by doing charts for others, including skeptics, and they were impressed as well (though a few had theories to explain how I did it subconsciously they did say I had them pegged).

Suitably impressed I then looked into prophecy of all sorts (psychics, Bible, astrology, etc) and found that none of it was that great. The guy teaching me magic told me to include "respectable" predictions from analysts, economists, environmentalists, and even from the hard sciences...and they were pretty much all wrong, too! In part this is because these were published books and articles and to sell (so that I could find them at the library or cheap at thrift stores) they had to be sensationalistic. Yet all the same, scientists fared as dismally as psychics in predicting the future. In one case, a scientist (I believe a geophysicist) predicting a disaster as some mined mineral was used up, no more available, but since then many more had been found as had alternatives so his prediction of disaster was wrong.

I also found an article detailing a fun experiment of taking the predictions of respected (as in they'll be shown on CNN, etc) experts on politics and economics and they were nearly all wrong almost all the time, only a couple reached being right even half the time...and in another experiment by the one reporting on this they threw up random answers to the same questions these experts attempted to answer and had a chimpanzee randomly pick them...and the chimp nearly beat them all! Even the couple that did better than the chimp did so only BARELY. So I haven't held this against astrology...if I did I'd have to believe in NOTHING.

As for other "strange" things, I generally consider possibilities. Skeptics and hardcore believers alike would probably be uncomfortable hearing me talk about such subjects.

Hmm astrology... well I grew up with it, it's pretty much woven into the culture, dad n grandparents study it. So I have little to no problem believing that western astrology can work too.

And as for other things, yeah I believe that there is a chance that they do exist. I've seen ghosts - or think there is a chance that I have seen ghosts, apparently some people of my father's side can see them. My dad's pretty obsessed with studying about ghosts n past lives n such.

Magic is another thing...

I do worship the three goddesses (very old "pagan religion" of my home country, before people brought Christianity n other religions in).
