Congratulations guys!
I may add something to what Lotis white said. I live in India and anything auspicious(a wedding/house warming/teaching a baby to write an alphabet the first time etc...) would be done during waxing moon. It denotes growth. Ofcourse not all families would look into it cuz u need a purohit(an esteemed astrologer's knowledge) to draw the chart.
Also they would look at a moon sign. Something like Ashwini(though considered a great nakshatra) belonging to impulsive Aries moon wouldnt be chosen for auspicious ceremonies cuz Aries is war-like.
Whereas they would chose something like Swati,mirugashirsha,Anushya etc. More milder moon signs. And of course this moon sign of that particular day must be few days AFTER a new moon.

Congratulations!!! This story warms my heart. And as for "the wrong reasons", almost everyone on the planet marries for "the wrong reasons" so no point in worrying about that.
