i dont see the cancer anymore..

i dont see taurus moon. i see his gem loud n clear.

leo rising-- glowing skin and hair, bright eyes, and the somewhat serious smug expression

earth signs have sparkly sad eyes and are more stern, cold. water signs look closed off/suspicious. if i had to guess id say leo rising. his air is clear but there is something fiery in there too

His chart has too much air. I don't think it's really all air for inner planets.

Yup!!!
As someone who has several fam members with gem moon, aqua placements, I can attest that if one has an aqua stellium and then a gem moon, then the word "air" would be written all over the place. The eyes will have clear twinkles. Gem moons also smile a lot!!!

If he was born with taurus moon, taurus Asc, that'll make more sense.

I have compared his placements on astrofaces and he matches taurus moon and rising. Or cancer rising! The moon in the first gives the watery look. If he is a cancer rising, he will have gem moon however. I highly doubt he has gem moon though.

OP describes him as reserved at first... So I would say earth or water rising. Earth rising matches a lot though. I have aqua sun Taurus Asc myself.

Btw, his features are similar to Uma Thurman who has virgo rising and Taurus sun!
