Where does one look for mental disorders? My brother is bipolar and I was just curious to know I also have a friend who is diagnosed with bdp - although I haven't seen too much of it from her, she says it's more internal for her than anything IP: Logged |

I've seen a lot of ppl with issue like that having angles that are not balanced! This would give them too much of certain elements and not enough of others, creating an inability to balance their internal self with their public self.

I think it depends a bit on the mental disorder in question, I know depression is usually seen as a Neptune/Sun thing, most people I know have a square between the two, nervous disorders are more analogous with Mercury, I used to have really bad anxiety disorders and social phobia, I have Mercury square Uranus. Anger issues is probably more Pluto/Mars.IP: Logged |

What do you mean by that? -Celestica (is your username an allusion to Crystal Castles' song, by any chance?) One person I knew who was Bipolar - they had Moon conj. Neptune both sq. Sun; Mars sq. Uranus. The Moon/Neptune conj. was square their Nodes (and SN conjuncted the Sun) - very karmic and dare I say "problematic." For BPD there are usually signs of emotional intensity and instability - a predominance of Water influence with some Fire (sensitive and expressive); Pluto, Moon and sometimes Chiron (especially in aspect to the Moon - emotional "starvation"). Mars can be prominent in some way (anger issues / irritability / bad temper).
With anxiety there's usually a prominent Mercury energy or Gemini, Virgo, 3rd or 6th house in particluar; Uranus aspects for the restless mind. Water influence for a fearful inclination (Cancer & Scorpio influences seem more prone to anxiety than Pisces).
Overall I think whenever you see challenges in a chart, there's potential for mental / emotional and thus psychological disbalances, but there's no solid way of knowing if it will manifest as a full disorder or just some traits.
Moon and Mercury afflictions play a big role in psychological disorders, though, since they are the main significators for emotions / past conditioning and cognitive functions.

I currently take medication for schizophrenia and it works. I used to have some of the really bad symptoms; withdrawal, spacing out, cutting myself .(schizophrenia is a diverse disorder so the symptoms aren't always the same) but my worst mental state was when I was delusional and convinced myself that I was a time traveler changing the future and that simple things like dying my hair blue and shaving off my eyebrows (which I did) would change fate as we know it. This is called Grandoise Delusional disorder. I have Mercury Square Neptune & Moon Square Saturn in my chart, so that rests my case. Lol ------------------ " Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present." -Joan Rivers

I read that Moon opposite Pluto was one indication of bipolar. IP: Logged |

Could be. But not by itself. That aspect isolated only points a controlling mother and women in your life that are controlling. That also means that you loose control your feelings that are very intense.
Mercury/Pluto/Moon can give bipolarity... example: Moon opposition Pluto and both squaring Mercury... and specially if it is Uranus involved.

Oppositions and what Mercury and the moon are up to. Oppositions involving planets over the ascendant to the descendant.IP: Logged |

I have a mood disorder that involves a lot of depression and anxiety as well as some elevated moods. I mostly attribute it to my Moon/Mercury/IC conjunction in Leo. Mercury is in the 3rd and the Moon in the 4th so between that and being conjunct an angle they're both super powerful in my chart. The conjunction is square Pluto, trine Saturn, and sesquiquadrate Jupiter. Mercury is also sesqui. Uranus and quincunx Neptune and my Moon is contraparallel Neptune. Having inner planets contacting all or almost all of my outer planets can be quite difficult, although it does come with some rewards.Since I also have a Cancer Sun my Sun and Moon are in mutual reception and in my chart they're parallel as well. I've read the combination of fire and water can be unstable several times so I think that plays a role too. My Cancer Sun is in a very close contraparallel with Neptune (tightest aspect in my chart). I identify soooo much with Sun-Neptune descriptions. I love Neptune but I do think having a strong Neptune creates very real issues with escapism. I also have my Sun opposite my Cap Mars and I think it causes some problems with irritability and anger. It definitely helps that I have my Mars in contained Cap but I still have a horrible temper (I think my Leo planets are partly to blame though). My ex has borderline personality disorder and a Pluto singleton (only planet in the 1st qudrant) opp. an 8th H Taurus Sun. So I can only assume Pluto plays a massive role in mental illness given that we both have luminaries afflicted by Pluto. IP: Logged |

Neptune and Uranus in 3rd retrograde mars in cancer in 9th opposite Neptune and Uranus. Neptune Uranus and mars square my libra ascendant. Mercury squares my Neptune and Uranus. Moon in Virgo 11th inconjunct Saturn in 4th. I have to be careful with anxiety, I'm only anxious in public spaces because I absorb way too much info. I suffered with social anxiety in the past, I sometimes still do but not to extremes. IP: Logged |

I would think it's a scattered chart with lots of planets in opposition and planets are not conjunct in same sign or house. Inner planets squaring Neptune would cause them to doubt themselves and those opposition aggravates the situation. Not sure though. Chart examples of real bipolar cases would be valuable. IP: Logged |

Yes, I would agree about the chart examples I look at celebrity charts often and sometimes famous criminals' charts but haven't thought to search for one specifically related to bipolar or another mental issue
