What shines through the most as far as personality, the SN or the NN? If I have a Taurus SN and a Scorpio NN, which will people identify with me being more - Taurus or Scorpio?

I think nn is what is expected from you..
What you consciously project.

Sn is seen more by loved ones.

For example people see me as cold beautiful, skinny and rich but that's what I want to be.. Capricorn NN
but the people I Iove see me as this big softy that eats a lot of comfort food and wears big comfy sweaters LOL.

They both do. The north node is more exaggerated. The north node house is the toughest area of the chart to realize in your life and to participate in. The south node house is the easiest one and where you feel at home and comfortable. It's your comfort zone.
North node in a sign causes it to show up in you personality as an exaggerated version, like the sign on steroids a bit. Like, if your north node is in Pisces like mine, you can be too Piscean as in, wanting to escape reality a lot, which is primarily what Pisces is about.
So think about what the north node sign represents and look for how it shows up in your personality. Yours is in Scorpio. Scorpio tends to be a varied sign, with many levels of evolution. What shows up in you? It's not just the obvious with Scorpio, like high sex drive, for example. That is only one portion of what Scorpio is.
There can be a need to purge, for example. Or jealousy. Or needing to become completely immersed in something. Scorpios can be aggressive, too, although they are quieter at times. They might have a keen interest in science. So if you cannot relate to the sexual descriptions of Scorpio, look for the sign's others because with this sign, there are plenty.
If you have planets conjunct north node, especially Jupiter, the house it is in might not be so challenging and the exaggerated qualities are appreciated and get you somewhere.
If you have something conjunct the south node, it becomes more difficult to realize whatever house the north node is in. The tug is toward the south node house and this is like being stuck in quick sand, sorta.

Agree with Kerosene. Taps into projection of the Nodes. Persons closest to you have watched you live out your SN and you're coming to, with the NN. Thus new encounters would be more susceptible at seeing the direction you're going to, with your NN.

Aaliyah circa Queen of Damned is my inspiration.
I look up to Caps a lot.

But the queen of damned thing might be because I have NN conjunct 8th house cusp.

It is terrible that SN is only there for 18-19 years. I felt that around the first NN mark (18-19) that I still felt more Taurus but I was growing more sensitive like a Scorpio. Now that my second NN return has happened, I am feeling even more emotional than before and feeling like I am losing the Taurus NN. I feel like I am becoming a completely different person and not in a good way. I am losing the good things about myself that I liked and I am gaining the scorpio sensitivity, secretiveness, need to get to the bottom of things. I have never been a jealous person but I am starting to feel pangs every now and then because life is really not turning out well for me, yet I am still happy for people for the things/experiences they have. I looked up Nodes in my family and I am the only Scorpio NN. I am the only water sign NN in my family. I think they all think I am this emotional basket case. I am the only want who wants to get the bottom of things in my family...everyone else wants to brush things under the rug and act like life is good....when it really isn't (lots of family problems). I feel people respected me more when I had more of the Taurus SN shining through. I liked myself more then, too.

I never knew this about NN's and SN's. I'm actually glad I found this thread. I don't entirely know what you mean as far as your NN and SN goes but I know what you mean as far as being and feeling different. I definitely struggle more with my family than I do with other people. I feel a lot different as well. My NN is in Aquarius and I think most of my family sees more of my Leo SN which sucks because I want them to see more of my Aquarius side, the side that wants to get to know them and help them. I really hate having a SN Leo, I feel it goes against everything that I am as a person. I know I need to stop looking at it this way though. I'm sure there is a way I can find a healthy medium between the two. I have a hard time relating to others at times, and I am very reclusive. I feel as if I just don't care at times, and I hate feeling this way.

I've ALWAYS feel my Aries SN in the 6th/7th house. I never ask for help, I'm quick to cut people off rather than cooperate and I walk away from people QUICK. I had spent years throwing away REALLY good men.

I felt it in November/December but I REALLY feel my Libra NN in my first house which is our current transit and it is really stressing me out. I don't think I've ever felt more isolated, lonely or abandoned before and I find it very annoying. I feel like the longer I wait to meet someone I think is worthy, the more I might be willing to compromise... and I'm not sure if that is a good thing. The worst part is EVERY OTHER PART of my life is going great and I don't have anyone to share it with

Omg This. Right. Here.
I have a Aries SN too and this is EXACTLY how I am and how I feel right now. I think I've even potentially good friends with this attitude. It's like my SN is my go-to default and it's SO easy to be on my own when things get tough. Instead of asking people for help and telling them how I feel, I just go into "me" mode and isolate everyone one way or another. Like even right now I'm going through this period where I just can't even be bothered with anyone but myself.

And same about feeling lonely even though every other part of life is fine. I got a job, my grades are fine, tried joining more clubs, and even started working out and I STILL feel like I'm missing something. Even though I have placements in Libra, and I can easily show Libran traits, I feel like after a while my SN is still more evident.

This thread explains Arise NN so well imo: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/007996.html

I don't know what is going on but I'm a Libra and I feel very lonely and I don't want to be around anyone. It is probably because of the problems with the cardinal signs. Personally, I have pluto transiting 12 and that causes isolation, but since we all have Libra influence in some way, I'd bet it is the cardinal problems. It is great that you both have great things going on in other areas of your life....every.single.area.of.my.life is SO horrible. I know that I seem like a spaz on this board right now but it is only because I am so depressed.

The Lunar Nodes are karmic points that are opposite from each other. Rahu (North Node) is the Node we're supposed to follow and go towards to fulfill are karmic path. It is what we need to achieve in this life. Ketu (South Node) is the node that we're supposed to move away from and avoid. It is what we already achieved in our past life. Basically, if we choose the path of our North Node, then we will have a much higher chance of achieving in life, rather than when we follow our South Node, which prompts us to fail and never learn our mistakes. We feel more comfortable expressing our South Node since it is our past life and we are used to it. We express it naturally and it's our natural talents. While our North node isn't as expressed naturally. And we must learn to express it.

In Vedic Astrology, Rahu and Ketu have actual responsibilities like planets as well. Like for Ex. Rahu is what we want and stop at nothing to achieve and represents material pleasure. It's our obsession. While Ketu is what teaches you a lesson that Rahu tempted you to break. Ketu is about spiritual enlightenment, while Rahu is about material/selfish success.
Rahu makes you want more and more and Ketu takes it way from you. In order to achieve spiritual enlightenment, we must first stop our obsessions (Rahu) and sacrifice. (Ketu)
Also, Rahu represents the unconventional and Science, (similar to Uranus in that sense) and Ketu represents electronics.
Rahu has a more Uranian nature while Ketu has a more Neptunian nature.

If you think about it, it kinda contradicts Tropical Astrology's Nodes, lol. Rahu and Ketu are the same in both Tropical and Vedic Astrology in which Rahu is this life while Ketu is our past life.

I don't necessarily believe in past life, souls, etc. So I believe the North Node is more of what we want and aim for, while the South Node is more of what we need, and it is an intense need that we cannot get over, so it gets kinda out of control. We don't necessarily aim for what our South Node is, but we need it to feel at ease. It's natural to us. While our North Node is more of what stimulates us in the moment. So for example, being in an environment which complements what ever your North Node is, will stimulate us and we shall consciously aim to fit in and thrive there. It makes us and happy and we enjoy it, but at the same time, it isn't what we're used to, so it's like a beneficial challenge for us. While for example, being in an environment which complements our South Node will bring an intense feeling of having to shine, as it is the more natural part of you, so it is a given to sub-consciously dominate there with ease, It isn't stimulating nor interesting because you feel that it is your responsibility to shine there.

For example, I'm a Libra North Node, so I'm interested in romantic relationships, everyone at peace, etc. While my South Node is Aries, so I need to be #1 at everything. It isn't what I aim for, but rather what is a sub-conscious given in achieving it with everything I do.
Also, my North Node is in the 3rd House, so I strive to be very intellectual and explore many ideas, practical or abstract. I enjoy intellectual conversations, learning the most and try to acquire as much knowledge as possible, etc. (I also have Mercury and Mars there, so it is more dominant, but this is just for example). While my South Node is in the 9th House, so I come of as being very philosophical and usually the things I say are deep and have a higher meaning to them without even realizing it; as it is natural for me to see things this way. (I do have Jupiter in Sagittarius in the 4th House, so it may be more dominant. But again, this is just for example). It's like I already know it and how it's manifested in the bigger picture (South Node 9th), but have trouble with integrating the small parts as to how they're brought about, so I try to learn all the facts and details to acquire the full picture (North Node 3rd). It's like I automatically have a theory about something without or before learning all the facts and information. So I should learn and research everything before I have a theory.
Even now with what I believe the North/South Node represents, I cannot use it as a fact, because, well firstly, Astrology is not a fact, lol. But really, because I never analyzed charts to see how it works, researched for ancient interpretations of what the Nodes represent, etc. Like I learn something, and create something bigger and more meaningful out of it. (I leaned about Astrology from the internet, but never researched what the ancient interpretation is, in which the information originally derived from (if even possible; and if so, I believe everyone should)

The reason why we need to follow our North Node is because we need to integrate our more natural self; South Node, with our North Node so we can understand the full picture of that particular axis.

Well, this was my opinion of the Nodes, at least.

I believe people see your nodes in different situations. So actually, they see both at the same time within different aspects within you.
But the exception is when a node is more dominant in your chart, then they see that node more prominently. (example, the luminaries in conjunction with one of them, one of them in the 1st house, especially if conjuncting the ascendant, etc)

I just had my first NN return, well it was last year, but still, when transit NN entered Scorpio where my natal is, is when i suddenly woke up and realized there was other stuff besides the Taurus stuff I knew, it was when I started to pay deeply attention to astrology and spirituality, and became more mysterious and reserved to the people that know me...Scorpio....

Of course my family knows that inside me there is this lazy girl, who just likes to eat and do nothing hhaah

I didn't mean to worry anyone...I really think it is pluto transiting my 12th. When it transited my 11th, I was always joining organizations and groups. Now I just want to be alone. I have a lot on my mind and don't have much confidence lately.

Some in another post described walking in quick sand. That is how I feel. I feel every area of my life is stuck and I can't move. Or rather, I am too scared to move. I'm trying to figure out my life and I hope that when things make more sense that I will feel stronger and be able to pull myself out of this quick sand.

I guess another thing is that I just had my second nodal return and I am feeling much more emotional than I have in the past. I am wondering if this is now how I am going to feel for the rest of my life since I have a Scorp NN. I'm a Libra sun and my SN is Taurus so I hadn't really felt the water sign before.

What house is your south node in again and is it conjunct anything? Is your north node conjunct anything?
Remember, whatever they are conjunct it creates an instant opposition with the other node.

Oh now I remember
You told me about the north node conjunct Venus and Uranus once already.
How close is the south node conjunct Chiron? Within 1 degree?
Do you feel it is difficult communicating with people?

Chiron is 0 degree and SN is 5 degree both in 3rd house. Well, there are times where communicating is a problem, but specifically with my family...communication is seriously problematic.
