In Vedic astrology, I am a Jupiter in Taurus and a Leo Ascendant. In Western Astrology, I am a Jupiter in Gemini and Aquarius Ascendant. Honestly, I feel like BOTH Vedic and western! I feel very earthy and I feel I express myself in an earthy way yet I can also be very chatty. I also feel people see me as kind of introverted and stand-offish at first but then when I get to know them on a personal level I am very warm and affectionate with people. Has anyone else noticed this? IP: Logged |

You don't get Leo ASC from Aquarius. The difference is only 23 degrees between these two systems. Not 180, IMHO. IP: Logged |

Did the site that you used for Vedic ask you to enter your coordinates? You may have done that wrong.------------------ My chart: http://i.imgur.com/N9w5x4Z.gif IP: Logged |

The Vedic astrologer said I am a Virgo sun, Virgo moon, Taurus jupiter, Leo Asc, when Western Astrology says I am Libra sun, Libra moon, Gemini Jupiter, Aquarius Asc. I don't know where he got the placements from, this reading was from a few years ago. It makes some sense because I really do feel more earthy than airy, but I do think a lot. Does anyone find they feel more like their Vedic placements? IP: Logged |

Ok, well the other placements would work for Vedic so let's put aside the Asc for a sec. I said I don't know how he got the placements so perhaps he was wrong? I don't know. Let's not focus on that one placement because that is not the essence of the thread. IP: Logged |

I feel like I'm changeable like my Gemini ASC in Western astrology however, I also feel shy and antisocial like a Vedic Scorpio moon might suggest. Especially not open-minded to new things unless I feel confident and prepared that I will succeed. If I'm with my friends and I'm already there, im less antisocial... I'm also lazy like my Libra might suggest. Except for in Vedic my Mars is LibraSo IDK Vedic: Virgo-Scorpio-Taurus Jupiter Scorpio Western:Libra-Sagittarius-Gemini Jupiter Sagittarius ------------------ My Chart! " Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present." -Joan Rivers "Be who u r and say what u feel cuz those who matter dont mind & those who mind don't matter" -Dr.Seuss "Never mistake silence for ignorance, calmness for acceptance, or kindness for weakness." -Carson Kolhoff IP: Logged |

Thanks, Desiring Shadows. I had looked for Vedic on that site but didn't see it. So, it looks like my Vedic ASC is Capricorn. This makes sense as well because I am more serious like a Cap than someone who has an Aqua Asc would appear. It is strange that I feel like a combo of these two types of astrology (Vedic and Western). IP: Logged |

To me, its when the light really went on. Its easy to learn, the charts are simple..Maybe its the way its being taught to me though. I just enjoy it more. I think the relating of the signs also has to deal with the degrees. In western astrology I am a Aqua sun (4 degrees), but in vedic I am Capricorn (10 degrees) I feel more in tune with my cappy sun IP: Logged |

I relate to my Vedic Chart better, overall. And I use Lahiri anyamasa, as that gives me a Virgo Sun. Otherwise, I would get a Leo Sun with Fagan-Bradley anyamasa, and I relate to a Virgo Sun, more. Deja vu with my comment from the other Vedic vs. Western thread, lol. To be honest, though, Sidereal is contradicting it's own logic because they use the constellations that touch the ecliptic, yet, Ophiuchus isn't included and it touches the ecliptic, lol. When telling other people about Astrology or looking and analyzing other charts, I use Tropical, as I feel more confident in it's accuracy, overall, though. Oh well, I relate to my Vedic Chart anyway somehow, lol. IP: Logged |

I relate to my whole chart very well. Once you learn the differences in degrees and what they mean it becomes a very 'oooohhh!' http://www.galacticcenter.org/main/nakshatras/the-27-nakshatras.html IP: Logged |

I use Vedic for personal charts and Western for Synastry.Western Synastry is similar to Vedic in the sense that it's very predictive and practical. Vedic also has a compatibility system, but Vedic astrology is so many thousands of years old that it can be difficult to make sense out of it. For example it might tell you that a particular relationship will not work simply because the female is too strong and opinionated, but the guy being this way would be just fine. lol. IP: Logged |

My Nakshatra is Jyestha! "There is a sense of betrayal and abandonment indicated by the myth. They have a sense of seniority and superiority due to age and experience. They are very protective of themselves and loved ones. They possess hidden occult powers. They are the wise ones who have the wisdom that only age and experience can give. As the patriarch or matriarch of the family they are the ones who will run the show. They know how to deal with wealth and power. Their lives are not easy and some may experience hardship and poverty. They are reclusive, secretive with few friends. Their inventive profound minds provoke them to seek the deeper meaning on life. At times they can be arrogant and hypocritical, because of their low self-esteem." ------------------ My Chart! " Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. Mine too. Although I don't jump for joy. I'd much rather be one of the Taurus Nakshatras since my entire stellium is in Cancer.

The thing I don't get with Western vs.Vedic is how they are so different. In Western I have Mars in Taurus in the 8th house and in Vedic I have Mars in Aries in the 9th.Those placements describe 2 very different people. In Western I have a Cancer sun,in Vedic I am a Gemini. In Western I have Virgo rising,in Vedic I have Leo rising.Like I said, that would almost be like describing 2 completely different people---it's a big jump from being a Virgo rising to a Leo rising!!IP: Logged |

To be honest with you, I was sold on the Vedic system for a while. After all, the aspects to each planet remain consistent. However, I have become quite proficient at naming a personal planet of someone just by their mannerism, their style of writing and even how they answer questions. Aries placements tend to be quite "raw". This is especially so when Aries is in Mercury or the Moon placement. The only time that Aries tones down the "rawness" and seems more "grounded", is when it is very close to the cusp of Taurus(I usually would say around 23 to 29 Degrees) Aquarius placements tend to have the individual behave quite unconventionally, even downright eccentric. This is especially so if the Moon/Mars is in Aquarius. This seems to remain constant even if the Aquarius sign is close to the cusp of Pisces. The energy doesn't seem to alter that much at all. So with the Vedic system, this theory would have to be tossed out the window as most Aries placements would alter to Pisces and Aquarius placements would alter to Capricorn. But Capricorn is very traditional and conservative-very different from Aquarius. If you were to seat two people who have the Moon in Capricorn and Moon in Aquarius, you would observe the contrast. To provide examples of what I mean, think of tangible examples of people you know that exude the trait of the Moon/Sun/Asc in the sign. Do you see the traits of the previous sign being personified? Especially when in the personal planet placement? Rosie O Donnell would have to leave her fiery Sun in Aries for Pisces, conflicted Moon in Libra for the particular Virgo and socially opinionated Gemini Asc, for docile Asc Taurus. Bette Midler (whom to me personifies the Sun in Sag/Aries Asc combo) would be a Scorpio Sun /Asc in Pisces, Moon in Libra? Huh? Really? Joan Rivers would have to exchange her Sun in Gemini for Taurus. Her Asc in Aries for Pisces and Moon in "say it even if they don't like it" Sag for secretive Scorpio Bill Cosby's whining Sun in Cancer would be reversed for flighty Gemini. His "I've got an opinion on all matters black" Asc in Aries would be exchanged for Pisces and his critiquing Virgo Moon would be exchanged for Leo. Make much sense? I don't know. Some are good fits and some aren't. Mine, ironically, seems to fit quit well. I,in the Vedic system, would have Moon in Gemini, Mercury in Sagittarius and Mars in Virgo. I can see that. But that could also be because I have Moon in 3rd,Mercury in 9th and Mars in 6th natally anyways. I'd advise you to study the combined energies of the signs concerned; Mercury in Scorpio opposing Moon in Taurus may share the same characteristics as Moon in Cancer/Mercury in Capricorn opposition. But the style of expression is quite different. Details of what sign the planet is in do count.

I feel my Western placements, not the Vedic ones. I don't believe in Vedic astrology whatsoever. Western: Sagittarius Sun, Leo Moon, Leo Ascendant Vedic: Scorpio Sun, Cancer Moon, Cancer Ascendant IP: Logged |
