Off the top of my head, probably challenging aspects to the Moon (emotions), Jupiter (sense of enjoyment/joie de vivre about life), Neptune (spirituality).Saturn and Mars transits too. Obviously many other factors. IP: Logged |

It could be a lot of things, even a Gemini can get depressed occasionally(although it's almost unheard of)but I would say strong Saturn and Capricorn in the chart. Saturn tends to be serious, stern and somber and just naturally seems to tend toward melancholy. They've got that still upper lip and can just be so---grave. I find the moon in Capricorn can just super depressing, they just feel the weight of things.Of course there is the positive side, they are usually very responsible, practical have great business sense, etc, but they do tend toward depression.Moon-Saturn can be a super downer-- Although there are lots of positive sides to Saturn aspects you are asking about depression. When Saturn is in depression mode it can really bring down the planet it touches. With a strong Capricorn/Saturn element in the chart the person is not necessarily depressed all the time, but let's just say they are not the happy-go-lucky type! There's a reason Capricorns were born in the dead of winter!IP: Logged |

I have suffered from depression, which also came hand in hand with panic attacks. It lasted for about a year. Worst time of my life, it's like I lost 12 months. I'm better now, but I suffer from mood swings. More between happy and sad, than angry.Moon conjunct Jupiter and Uranus in 4th House Sun in 12th Venus in 12th sq Moon, sq Jupiter, sq Uranus IP: Logged |

Can you give an example on one of these? Cause I don't really think I understand. My 6th house is in sagittarius, ruler of jupiter. My jupiter is in the 12th house, and square mercury, opposition saturn. I got 12th house in gemini which rules mercury, and my mercury is extremely afflicted (square neptune, saturn and jupiter) I don't feel depressed, but I definitely suffer from mood-swings, jupiter opposition saturn is also describing manio-depression very well, though I rarely feel depressed, actually I feel happy-go-lucky as much as I feel depressed IP: Logged |

That doesn't even sound that bad? People should be careful with not blaming their chart for being depressed… cause their chart might not even look that depressing:/ IP: Logged |

This is the OP to Ami Anne's thread on depression placements from the Brown Owl School forum: quote: Originally posted by Ami Anne: 10 Placements Which Can Show Depression in the Natal Chart1, Saturn conjunct the Sun–degrees are very important here. An exact conjunction is very much harder than a 5 degree conjunction. One’s father may have been very demeaning. The person may feel as if he never measures up because he could never measure up to his father. One may struggle to feel as if he is good enough to make it in a career or in soceity. 2. Moon conjunct Saturn–The above situation exists except it is with the mother. This aspect hits one’s heart more than one’s career. One feels a generalized sense of unworthiness. It goes deep into the core of the person. 3. Neptune in the 12th House–This is a classic aspect for depression. 4. Moon in the 12th House–One feels as if one cannot express one’s emotions. It is like a tongue tied of the heart. This can lead to depression because the person has so many emotions( as we all do) but he feels as if they are locked within a prison inside him and he can’t get to them to let them out. 5. Mars in the 12th house-Mars in the 12th house makes for a person who is afraid to act. He is afraid he will look stupid and then be humiliated. Hence, he keeps his passions pent up. Passions cannot stay pent up forever. He,often, foes into a depression from the sheer pain of wanting to access his passions( as we all do) but not knowing how. 6. Saturn in the 12th house–I call this placement “The Child who Sits on the Sidelines but Wants to Enter the Group so badly but is afraid of humiliation” Saturn in the 12th feels left out. He feels that he does not fit in any group. He feels that other people are doing it to him( as we all do when we have certain Astrological aspects such as this) However, he is imprinting himself on the world and it responds in kind. However, all this doesn’t matter because he feels left out and this can lead to depression. 7.Chiron conjunct the ASC—This is severe bullying which can make a lifelong imprint on a person and lead to depression. 8. Chiron in the 10th House–This person feels as if he does not fit into society. He sees other people get ahead but feels like he can’t . He feels cursed in a sense. Usually, his father took away his confidence and hence, he feels he can never overcome this and be a success. 9. Mercury conjunct Uranus–This makes the mind race like one is on the Indy 500. It is not an easy aspect. It makes for brilliance but brilliance has a down side and this is madness. This aspect wreaks havoc with the gentle Mercury, which is one’s mind. It sends it buzzing. The native may feel as if he dances to the beat of a different tune. This can be scary and isolating and can lead to depression. 10. Mercury Square Uranus–the above situation occurs. However, it may feel even more locked in as the native cannot figure out how to stop his racing mind. These two aspects are very hard and my heart goes out to people with them.

Having a retro mars in cancer opposing neptune is like walking at a snails pace, while other people can just pursue their desires when they want, It feels like my desires are blocked. I peruse things indirectly and expect people to pick up on it, but people can't mind read, being direct scares me, because I don't want to offend. My moon in Virgo conjunct Chiron I am very self critical of myself and others, whenever I want to perfect something it never feels like its good enough, inconjunct Saturn in 4th it never feels my efforts are emotionally satisfying. Afflicted 4th house, it feels like there's nowhere I can call home, my hometown feels unwelcoming and dismal. My parents are not nurturing. Venus conjunct Saturn, feeling attractive and relaxed requires work, I'm sensitive to judgement and rejection. I've never felt pretty or good enough. Chiron leo in 10th, I feel I don't belong in society, it's just feels so hard trying to fit in with people who you have not much of an interest in, or doing things that don't satisfy you. trying to live up to society standards is impossible, so why bother? I want to be accepted for being me, yet I'm pressured to be something I'm not. Dejanira in my first house, I've always felt like the victim of myself and others. Mercury square Neptune in 3rd, I'm prone to negative illusions from the environment, I feel like a sensitive sponge carrying the weight of humanity. Neptune squares my asc, making it worse, I never know if people view me positive or negative. Pisces Lilith, just generally feeling disillusioned with life in general, wanting life to be beautiful, perfect, but never will be. Of course there are some positives, but I'm very prone to depression easily, I'm not depressed all the time, but I'm really harsh on myself. IP: Logged |

Yep having Saturn as chart ruler can be a b****. It can work in favour of the person too if it's well aspected or sometimes even unaspected as it's less severe. I think with Saturn pointing to potential for depression it's still not as bad as a packed 12th house or afflicted moon. Saturn gets easier with age when the person finds their direction in life. I feel Saturn is constantly trying to steer you in the right direction. IP: Logged |

Mars opposite neptune, doesn't seem like causing depression to me at all. This aspect would be good for physical activities, with a certain sensitive touch, like dancing, making arts and stuff? It also has a kind of caring touch, I like people with this placement, and they seem to attract the opposite sex as well. Also I don't really believe in retrograde planets, as they are not actually moving backwards, it only looks like it from earth. I have mercury and neptune retrograde, but it doesn't really affect me. Venus conjunction saturn is a great aspect in my opinion too, cause it really makes people loyal to their friends, but they don't chose anyone as friends, they have to prove something which is good, as you often would have some few very great friends who is always there. My best friend got this aspect, and she has a cancer mars too, and she got me as friend, among others and we are indeed very loyal to her! And also mercury square neptune isn't causing depression in itself, it's often seen in great writers and poets chart, cause it gives a very lively imagination… but ofc it can goes both ways. I have this aspect too by the way… I think maybe your virgo moon conjunct chiron is your own worst enemy, cause you seem very critical of yourself… but I personally think that saturn can help in that way with time, because saturn dominated people tend to feel better with time as they get more successful in life… (if they do though) You have to find out what your niche in life is, and what you are best at, cause that will lower the stress-level on your shoulders IP: Logged |

I have to differ on the Unaspected Saturn. I see it as a blessing. It is usually an exceptionally fine person--- very good character. ------------------ Want To Ask Any Question About Bible Prophecy? Go For it. It is Free, of course. http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

I have a love hate relationship with my unaspected Saturn. It's the hardest aspect of my chart. But if you asked me if I would change it I'd have to say no. IP: Logged |

Quick question:Does unaspected Saturn mean NO aspects period? Or it only aspects outer planets? Mine only aspects Neptune, Uranus and Pluto. (trine, square, Sextile respectively) I agree 12th and afflicted moon. (others too but those came to mind) IP: Logged |

Crikey, that's me. Pluto also conjuncts Mercury/Uranus- does this make me an out and out nutter?

Yeah that's true these aspects have their upsides too, I'm imaginative and creative, but I have a hard time expressing this to other people because of fear of judgement really, and I'm loyal too when people give me reasons, I'm an aqua Venus so I'm fixed, once I'm done I'm done, but if something really gets my attention I'll go through thick and thin, I feel my Venus is pretty much black and white, all or nothing. I can't be doing with people who aren't sure. IP: Logged |

I definitely think 12 house planets are a good indicator of depression. I have moon and mars there loosely conjunct and I have struggled with bad depression since I was a young teen. Also my brother has neptune in the 12th and he has struggled with depression since he was a little kid (he was severely bullied most of his life at school, especially high school, and has gone through a crap-ton of other countless things that have left him down) and he is almost 33 years old. It really pains me to see him suffer. He has NEVER had it easy, partially because he has always been a little different. He also has moon conjunct saturn.IP: Logged |

Good question about the outer planets, DF. On some Unaspected planets, they are allowed such as Uranus. You please check it out and tell me. I think the outer planets can still be unaspected with some outer planet aspects. Saturn I don't think is one but please Google it and see what you find.------------------ Want To Ask Any Question About Bible Prophecy? Go For it.
