I read it on Donna Cunningham's blog: "Over the years, I’ve often had occasion to look at the charts of people who belong to the same family. I’ve come to believe that many families have a ruling planet—one that is prominent in all their charts and that describes the family composition and history in a nutshell. My family’s ruling planet is Uranus. You’ve read about the children’s charts above. My mother not only had an Aquarian Moon but had a Yod with Uranus in Pisces at the peak. My father had Jupiter, Uranus, and the Midheaven in Aquarius all within 1° of one another. Were we a conventional family? Not on your life! You may suspect what that ruling planet is if several members of your family share a particular gift like music–or a particular affliction like dyslexia." http://skywriter.wordpress.com/2011/02/07/things-you-may-not-know-about-the-5th-house-and-children/ IP: Logged |

I used to think that the Moon truly described the mother, but I think it's more so that the mother's chart has some of that sign's energy; enough for the child to project that sign's traits on to her. Like with me, I have a Scorpio Moon. My mother has Gemini Moon square Pluto. So, when that Moon-Pluto aspect really has influenced how I've seen her, allowing me to give those Scorpio qualities to her. But, in reality, she's really not all that Plutonian. I don't know her birth time, but that Moon-Pluto square is the only Plutonian thing in her chart. Whereas my chart and overall personality is MUCH more geared toward Pluto. The time has to come, I think, when we stop casting our mothers in our Moon sign light so much and own those qualities for ourselves, while seeing them as the multifaceted people they really are. They are partially like our Moon, but not totally. On the other hand, I think if you were to ask our mothers, they'd totally describe us as our Moon signs and house placements and I think they'd be a lot more accurate in that. ------------------ Check out My Astrology Blog: http://astroarena12.blogspot.com IP: Logged |

I have an 8H Pisces moon. My mother died when I was young, so that fits. When she was alive, she was very nice in some ways, very fierce in other ways. I'm a lot like her. She was a Leo sun, I'm a Leo ASC. I'm a Cap sun and my two oldest sons are Cap moons. IP: Logged | |
