I mean the degree and the retograde tells me Mercury was in Virgo and because of retograde it moved back was at Leo at the time of birth.

I've read about critical degrees and how they should be interprated but none of them were matching each other. Some say it should be interprated in the next house, next sign. But that does not ring right to me. Some say the interpration must be based on where you see it on the chart. Which sounds more logical to me.

But when the planet is retograde, my senses tell me you have to take the next sign and the house into consideration. But how to combine two signs / houses ?

That is Conjunct Regulus, so it is an Auspicious place for a Planet to be.

A quick look in an Ephemeris will give you the whys and wherefores.

It will usually show the Retrograde times shaded, so that way you get a feel for the folding or unfolding nature of the Planet's Progression.

I have heard it likened to a snail shell, sometimes it needs to fold back into the Centre and touch Source for the Energy to Unfold into the Beautiful Flower of Expression we are all capable of.
