Easy question, but are we supposed to be able to see the "shadow" side of the sign that rules our 12th house? We see what the 6th house (everyday house) doesn't?

Hmmm... very intriguing question. Ya know, I've never even thought about it really, but now that you've got my wheels turning... I think that makes sense. I have Gemini on my 12th cusp, and one thing that seems to be a trend is that I seem to be able to see a side to Geminis that others don't automatically see. My Sun and Venus are in Gemini in my 12th, though, so I can't really differentiate which is causing that. I do know that Gemini seems deeper to me than what I usually see described. I don't tend to experience Gem people as shallow as their usually thought of, for example. I see Gemini energy more sympathetically.

Like I said, though, that could be my own Gemini Sun-Venus in 12th and 3rd house Moon making me more soft-hearted toward Gemini energy more than Gem being my 12th house cusp. I'm a little biased.

Interesting question.
I too have Gemini on the 12 house cusp and a 3rd house Moon. Venus in Cancer in the 12th. And I do feel, I hear what has not been said. Like I can hear between the lines.
Now that you mention it: people have told me, "You always know just what to say".

Thanks for bringing this up, hannaramaa.
Where is your 12th house placed?

I know Leos and Virgos trick of the trade, if that is what you're asking?

I asked because I have a Taurus sun Pisces moon "friend" whom everyone thinks is so sweet and innocent, and I don't think so. She enjoys boasting about how she doesn't feel emotions like jealousy (what? Everyone feels that at some point, don't lie.) or hatred, and yet she's made snide comments / criticisms towards me that she tries to explain away. What has me curious though is both 7thgrace and Wild Horse said they had Gemini on their 12th house. I actually have Taurus on mine, but Gemini filters part of that - where my Mars and Jupiter sit, then my Mars is conj. my ASC. So now I'm not sure if it's me seeing a shadow side to Taurus or Gemini, although I do meet a lot of Taurus / Gemini people and the ones I can think of I can remember pinpointing whatever insecurity they were trying to hide.

I think you have Taurus on your twelfth house, right?

It could indicate some possible trouble thru whatever is connected to Taurus. You could be sensitive about it. It's like an Achilles heel hence it is thought of as the "weak" area of the horoscope.

For instance, if you have Libra there, it could indicate trouble through partnerships or marriage and a lot of pain in relationships. Lots of karma relating to others.

Taurus is more about possessions, money, vanity, family. So you could be sensitive or experience difficulty here...

As far as the shadow side...not sure what you mean by that? If you mean hidden, I have Virgo on twelve and it's not exactly hidden...more like watered down.

Well I was doing research just now to get an idea, then, I thought about my own life. Planets are easy, sign wasn't so easy to look up.

But I discovered something in my own life that seems to apply to exactly what you're talking about. It's complicated though. I can only use my example though as it's the one that I know, and makes sense to me. (it should make sense to everyone else, I think LOL )

Any other Libra risers can confirm or deny this - It's true for me.

With Virgo as my 12th. Virgo is about service. I have Venus, Mercury, Mars there. This is especially true in romance for me but I spent a LOT of time and effort being of service, not thinking of myself. Deep, DEEP inside, I didn't like it. During my first marriage, I did the opposite. I was very selfless and the last year or so I was very selfish. I wanted to be served and that lasted for some time but eventually crumbled.

Now, I feel that I've found balance with my service, a little give and take. (Ah-ha... see the connection?)
I feel it was my karmic duty to bring my 12th house to my first house sign and use my first house sign to solve my 12th. Libra/Virgo... find balance in service.
Not your average house cusp... it's where the end meets the beginning.
Showdow side for me was being selfish you might say.

Currently, I really feel like I've found balance. I give and take, she gives and takes. It feels balanced.
Then you can get into planets of course like Venus, etc. and they have their own pains and lessons.

This is just something that I think I remember reading once, and it does make sense for MY life. But, naturally, I could be wrong too.

I agree. I have my Libra sun, moon and mercury there and it makes it even more personal for me. I suffered more pain than I thought I would in relationships. But I left all of them with a lesson learned, pretty certain that was their only purpose.

I think you see and feel it more depending on what planets you have there. If you don't have those personal planets there than it's not quite as activated as it would for a person with let's say moon there. My 6th house is empty and I see Aries qualities in myself. I think it's the reason why I get along so well with Aries and married a guy who also has an empty 6th house and has Arian qualities. What's even crazier is that his mom(who is an Aries) also has the same ascendant as we do, and we all just click, instant comfort.

You have Virgo on the cusp, though, or do you have Libra on two cusps, BG?

I have Virgo here and about serving others - I find it compromised. Like, I can give them advice and lecture them as a way of feeling like it is a service to them but as far as physically doing things like getting things for them and following their orders...I find I can a little while then I get tired and cranky. My energy gets zapped pretty quickly unless it's just telling them what I think they should do.

The easiest way for me to serve them is to preach at them lol.

My Jupiter is on the tale end of Virgo at 27 but for the most part my 12th is Libra. Sorry I go confused lol.

I'm more focused on partnerships and togetherness, and got taken advantage of. I did any and everything because I "loved" them and thought that's what I had to do.

v Me too. I had to reread your post but yes exactly.

My 12th house is mainly ruled by Aries but leaks over into Taurus a bit. I tend to get along best with Arian-influenced people or people with heavy fire. Taurus.. Not as much. I get along much better with Taurus males. I see through everyone's facades.. But I tend to see passed the negative of Aries and understand where they're coming from.. Maybe that's my Aries Merc/Venus though.

If Virgo is on the cusp, it will give your 12th a Virgo motif with Libra influence. I think it's better to not have the same sign on both house cusps.

My sun is at 3, moon 4 and mercury 12. I don't think my 12th overall has a Virgo feel to it, I obsess over cleanliness lol maybe that's where it comes out to play. It's not like it's all in Virgo, the Libra takes over IMO especially with my sun and moon being exact. My ascendant is in cusp with Scorpio, my venus is at 1.

I find Virgo the most difficult to see clearly when it's on the cusp of this house due to it being the natural opposite sign...I can't see Pisces too clearly on the cusp of 6. I do know I have a dislike for mundane matters and connect much more to the Piscean lifestyle of spiritual calm than the nervous, Virgo one of constant activity and preoccupation.

Do you find it difficult to pull away from those Virgo tendencies even though you don't like them?
Like they're "easy". You like Pisces but it's tough to learn. (?)
Almost like a sn/nn thing.

I think it depends on which planets are there(cusp of Virgo) and what the aspects are.

It's far easier to be Pisces than it is to be Virgo :/

I have north node in Pisces but south node in the twelfth house. Maybe i experience it through the south node's house?

With that combination I got nothing to lose being Pisces, right?

Interesting...
That could put a twist in it but I'm not sure how yet. Because sn is supposedly easy for us... Autopilot.

Sagittarius in 12 house. Makes sense.

Very spiritually oriented and use my own intuition to make decisions. The shadow side is learning to be less serious and hiding back certain parts of my personality. Developing a firm sense of spirituality has been a big one for me, especially with Pisces NN.

Uranus on 12th cusp blows this up because circumstances in my life often come out of nowhere at times.

Well i have sun in leo and leo rules my 12th house. I do feel sometimes deep deep deep inside me that i want to be recognize for something, to have attention and be treat like a queen yet my virgo asc makes me appear humble and put me in situations where i'm always reminded to be nice and humble despite my wish to shine and be the center.

It could be difficult having a sign like Leo or Cancer, even, on the cusp of the twelfth.

I have Virgo on the 12th. I also have Virgo rising, rather than Libra, but I still actually really agree with DeepFreeze. I have had a very similar (recurring) relationship dynamic. Unfortunately, I still haven't really found that balance just yet (and with Virgo rising, I sometimes wonder if maybe I'm not supposed to?).

I also agree with SSS re: helping people with advice or instruction rather than actually doing things. I can tolerate orders for a bit, but it really grates on me after a short time.

I'm an awful Virgo riser in some respects, haha

I don't have Libra on the twelfth but I have planets in Libra in the twelfth and I feel like I am a so-so Libra riser, lol. Something about that twelfth house causes doubt.

What sign is the cusp on? Leo or Virgo?
Meaning your 11th/12th.

My Ascendant is also in Virgo.
I have Leo intercepted in the 11th.
