I don't tend to stay much on Astro 2.0 anymore since my move to IA. However, past life, reincarnational, karmic astrology is my focus and specialty.

I'd be delighted to exchange information, brainstorm theories, share anecdotal evidence and research with those of like mind and spirit.

Although I've no theories or knowledge of karmic astrology it does interest me and looking forward to learning about it. Will chime in when I have a foot-hold.

Hmm .. I am pretty sure I was executed in a previous life though. I've an irrational fear of executions .. To the extent I'm nervous of being accused of doing something I haven't in countries with the death penalty. And also, I have an odd boney feeling at the back of my neck so I think I was hung. Is there a way to find this in the chart?

Hi Indigo,

I would love to know your thoughts on past life, reincarnational, karmic astrology. I believe the MC and IC are involved some how, I read somewhere that Retro grade planets are linked to a past life.

... Oh. No wonder there tend to be similarities. Yes, I realised the same when I was very young. Apparently, I still grip the chair arms during certain scenes featuring executions. Total white-knuckled response.

How very interesting.

I'd be interested to know whether other people have also seen this happening ...

That's fascinating, Vajra. Unfortunately, the lack of data makes it a less practical approach. How do you go about constructing it? I'd certainly be interested.

I am mainly interested in karmic astrology, so hard to prove anything though. I'd love to hear other peoples thoughts. I feel asteroids have to play a huge role in decoding past life information as their interpretations are so much more focused.

Lol it is

I get nervous at the dentists because of the chair more than anything else and used to feel like that with the opticians when I was younger. Although that's more a general category of executions I suppose and weakens the hanging theory. But yes anything like that I can't watch in films or will force myself to watch more lately as much as it distresses, the fixation

I'd be curious how this works out. I've been having a lot of vivid past life dreams and memories lately and I've been about everywhere, much more than I realized. I can't tell if this was actually me or just me tapping some astral memory bank, however. It would be nice to know.

What's strangest is that I've had to deal with some karma of having once been a French pirate in the Caribbean...and I reincarnated in a strange way in this life with so many others in that life that was completely unexpected to me (it's complicated to explain). But why would karma from the 18th century being working itself out in THIS life?

Though interesting enough, one guy who basically started these memories happening (again) described an incarnation of mine back in the 60s that sounded as if I met someone I'd once known back then when I was 15 in this life. I wonder if I knew my granny back then? I was trying to "remember" and felt we have been together many times, and in some vague way in more than one dimension, but before I could have a chance to get a clearer impression I was interrupted and haven't been able to get into a state since then to explore that more.

I'm sure you know past lives aren't linear. Karma isn't cleared linear either. Bits of karma are cleared in different lives depending on the situation. You can even be incarnated in more than one life at a time, in the same time period, if you are an evolved soul. In that case, you could experience life in the same time line as two different souls. Do you have any information that could be verified through a chart?

Oh this opens a very interesting can of worms...maybe the psychologically shattered junkie I met at 15 WAS me in another incarnation which could help explain how he put a piece of his soul in me shortly before he died (that is his painful memories, and how I believe I was able to help his spirit find peace through something I did over the next few years).

Maybe my granny is me...that would help explain why I was getting very confused in trying to "triangulate" her in the time stream and her relation to me. It could also explain something else (very surreal and unquestionably mystical, even supernatural) that happened when I was 15 (and hundreds of miles/kilometers separating us).

And the future...it's not something many of our time could handle (at least in this incarnation were you to travel to it but those born in it are acclimated to it just fine and would probably be unable to handle living in our world today), at least not the various possibilities I've seen clearly (though I took it for imagination but been told by plenty, including professional authors and game designers, that the details were impressive in their complicated details and felt like reading a historical novel that's instead scifi).

But as for reading past lives from astrology, I know absolutely nothing about that as it struck me as pointless to know anyway. I was focused on THIS life. I'm just suddenly interested because I'm trying to find out how much reality there is to what's happening to me. Note, I'm convinced the memories are real...I'm just not sure they're really mine (save with the pirate life and the "echoes" in this life, which though surprising in some ways there's also some artistic reflections between them as well). And right now I can't think of any way to tell. At least not until I carry out some experiments when I next visit my family (I'm sure my Pisces moon cousin will enjoy the trip).

Actually, if I can remember more about certain other lives then I can include experiments with my BFF (also a Pisces moon)...that would be best, IMO.

I'll have to remember this next time someone talks about missing out on their soul mate or twin flame. The same soul may exist at the same time!

Hmmm...I wonder how that could play out in polyamorous relationships...

I love this. Thank you for the topic Indigo.

Could harmonic charts really shed some light into past lives, especially the latest life?

I found this in another forum:

"12th Harmonic:
This is the chart of fate or destiny, of past karma. It is said traditionally to indicate the parents; but it stands for past karma and conditioning generally (including hereditary factors) and shows past life influences. It is often used as an index of the last life and can be as something like the birth chart of the last incarnation. It indicates what the soul brings with it into this life and what can be discovered by a deeper probing into our psyche. It often shows us the karmic reason for our particular character and destiny in life."

I have access to several private case studies. By which I mean as close to proven reincarnation cases as I can get, and the birth information. The data is for several people, and several lives for each. I have had this data set aside for "some day when I have the time" for a while now...

When I studied it before, not terribly in depth, mind, I have found no definite patterns. There is one thing I have noticed, and it needs a lot more study, which I plan on doing at some point... There is something I call "a build up". In my own case, I've studied 5 charts of what I believe to be my past incarnations and found an interesting thing happening with an asteroid prominently placed in my own chart - Pallas.
In order, I have found: Chart#1- Pallas on Mercury, Chart#2 - Pallas on DC, Chart#3 - Pallas on Moon, Chart#4 - Pallas on MC, Chart#5 - Pallas on NN. So there is a build up of Pallas there. And sure enough, in this life, the expression of this asteroid comes very easily to me, it comes across as a natural talent. It is on my Sun/Chart Ruler midpoint, exact, among other things.
So that's something that I think warrants further study.

My very-early-stages, very much untested, postulation is that, wherever you find an easy, natural expression of something/talent in a chart, you will find a build up of it in past life charts.

Say, for example, someone with an immense dancing talent. We can look at Galina Ulanova, one of the most famous prima ballerinas of all time. (Whose chart is quite something, btw. Really fascinating.)

She had a Grand Cross of Sun/Uranus-Saturn/Mars-Neptune-Jupiter. A great placement for building up the discipline and the reputation of being one of the greatest dancers of all time. But Venus, the planet most immediately associated with beauty and dance, is conspicuously missing here. Venus is, in fact, only well-aspected, with a trine to Pluto and a sextile to Mars. As we theorize that it's really the harsh aspects that build up skill, we see there are plenty of challenges to many planets in her chart, but none for Venus.
(unfortunately no birth time, so vital angle info is missing)
So my guess would be that, if we were to find a few past life charts of hers, we would see that Venus was "worked on" and challenged in some of those past lives, to be able to be so easily expressed in her life as a prima ballerina assoluta.
This is just my theory at present time.

The greatest use I found in synastric reincarnational astrology, though, is that you will inevitably find the themes that have spilled over into your own life from a past one. I've found exact conjunctions of something in all the cases I've studied. I think this needs to be the focus - the present life, and just how it is affected by the past ones. Making resolution a priority, rather than just dry study.

I've had several. My advice is to take it seriously and make sure to have a good system of support in place before you go for it. Depending on what's closest to your conscious mind at the time, and how you're guided by the therapist, you might find things that are very difficult to handle. Some truly awful things can come up.
Absolutely go for it if you think you're ready, mentally and emotionally. Even physically. Just keep in mind that there's a great reason for why all these memories stay buried. If you take precautions, do the research, have a supportive environment and keep a personal growth oriented mindset, it will be an immensely rewarding experience.

Sure!
Firstly, about "going under". There's a popular prejudice about hypnotic states robbing you of your agency. While I'm certainly allowing for such things to happen(though I've never experienced it or heard an account of it myself), it is definitely not the purpose of regression therapy. Individual agency and a healthy objective detachment are very highly emphasised.

You access some part of yourself that you are not normally aware of, but you're still yourself and have consciousness and awareness of what's going on. You observe.
Even when the feelings you recall are very, very strong, you have a detached view of them from your current perspective. You can be crying like a baby and logically thinking to yourself "hm, what's up with all these tears" at the same time.

The memories you access can feel like any other memories of this life that you remember after you've long forgotten them. There's a "oh, right, that happened" feel to it. If you're very wary of past life regression, my suggestion is to try current life regression about something that you know will not upset you. A great example is remembering what you were doing when you lost something. You retrace your steps through hypnosis and focus on things your conscious mind has filtered out of your memory. If you lost your keys, you probably remember exactly where you left them, it's just filtered out because you were paying attention to something else at the time.
If it's hypnosis in general you're wary of, try a popular commercial pre-recorded hypnosis in the self-help section. Paul McKenna, ie, is a great choice and very, very popular.

In my regressions I remembered several memories from several lives. Most were quite mundane, walking through a hallway, looking at some wall decorations from my bed, making soup... And yet some were very profound: losing consciousness while dying and thinking my last thoughts, reflecting on the deaths of family members...

A good therapist will guide you to talk, not only think. It was the talking with the therapist that was important. You reflect, you remember emotions and mindframes you were in, you get release from things that were on your "mind" for centuries. The goal is to make you feel better now.

Also, just a heads up, a normal session will end in tears, there's hardly avoiding that. If you haven't cried, get your money back.
(A joke, but you get what I mean. ) In general, it is an immensely cathartic experience.

An important thing before going is researching the therapist, seeing how they work and what they focus on. Though, of course, sometimes you'll just click with someone, and sometimes you won't.
People's experiences are different, of course. Some go back easily, some put up heavy resistance. It depends on where your mind is at and how safe you judge it to be, unconsciously. I've done individual solo work for years before using a therapist and was no stranger to past life recall so I was "down" in a matter of a couple of minutes on the first session.

The goal and the commonality of it all is that the therapy is meant to give you release, and help you live on better terms with yourself and with the world. Even if you just go for the curiosity, always keep this as your goal.

Sorry about the essay. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer if it's within my experience!

I have had two 'life between lives" regressions where I was able to talk to my spirit guide and other people currently in my life to find out what I am trying to learn in this life. My therapist always asks permission from my spirit guide to do anything. Your spirit guide makes sure you are protected at all times and if they say no that line of questioning ends. I was able to meet and speak with my mother for example who died two years ago and release any negativity.

However, last time I asked to see something from a past life that was pertinent to my current life. I was in a field with lots of other people and someone was being executed. I believe it was my soulmate but I refused to look. My therapist kept asking me if I wanted to get closer to see who it was and I kept saying, "no, I want to go. I don't want to be here". I wasn't forced to see anything I did not want to and the therapist brought me out of th at time period. I gave the year as 1255. Overall though, hypnosis has been very positive for me and I plan on going back in a few months.

I have also had regressions through meditation but with meditation you don't have the control like when you are with a hypnotherapist because the therapist is guiding everything and prompts you with questions based on what you are trying to achieve. Like Libran Dream said, you are conscious and in control and can come out of it anytime you want.
