Feminism is so much more than making your man dinner. I have a Cancer Mars (Taurus Sun/Cancer Asc/Leo Moon), and I am a feminist. I expect to receive the same pay for my work as my male colleagues. I expect to be treated with the same respect and dignity as the males. I don't expect to be **** shamed by my dating choices, especially if men don't receive the same backlash.

In my romantic relationships, like a blue collar man. I need my man to be able to fix everything in my house. Or know who the best person to call. I like to feel safe and protected by my partner.

But, I expect to make joint decisions on all things that affect the household. Just because he can change the brakes on my car, doesn't give him an automatic say in all areas of our lives.

Basically, I'm looking for a true partnership. Use the skills we both have to make our family better. Even if those skills aren't traditionally assigned. For example, I suck at sweeping the floor. Guess who gladly does it in place of me :-)

PS, we switch off dinner duties.

Almost every single women I have ever come across in Western societies is a feminist.

What bugs me is the misuse of the term. Feminists don't want to be men.

From wiki:
"Feminist movements have and continue to campaign for many women's rights, including the right to vote, to hold public office, to work, to fair wages or equal pay, to own property, to education, to enter contracts, to have equal rights within marriage, and to have maternity leave. Feminists have also worked to promote bodily autonomy and integrity, and to protect women and girls from rape, sexual harassment, and domestic violence."

Every western women I know believes that women have the right to vote, the right to go to school and study what they want, the right to own property, the right to inherit, and right to execute contracts, have bank accounts and not be limited in their life choice based on their gender.

They also believe that they have the right to determine their own lives and not have them dictated to by a male family member.

The only women I've encountered who do not believe those things are some very fundamentalist religious women, and even then...

Feminism is a political view and has nothing do with if you want the man of the house to fix things while the woman cooks and cleans or if you want to be sex slave or vice versa.

Again, feminists do not think that woman and men are exactly the same. They think that women should have the same RIGHTS as men.

Does that mean their aren't feminists who think that gender roles as a whole are wrong and there shouldn't be ANY differences between men and women? Sure. Please note the word "Feminist Movements". There are extreme examples. Every theory moves within degrees and their are certainly "fringe" and extreme feminists.

But again, almost EVERY western women I've ever met believe in the principles above.

I'm egalitarian And action oriented.
I prefer to challenge people's views with my actions, rather than my words.
That either comes from the lack of air in my chart - or alternatively, the fact that I have strong Sun/Mars placements in Aries/Capricorn, and a weak Mercury in Pisces.

Whenever I come accross these debates, my Mercury is like: "meh I won't get involved. We are each on our own soul path. The information is out there for anyone who is interested and who acknowledges its relevance to their life experience"

But I do agree with Pixie for the most part.
She's always extremely eloquent and gives everyone food for thought

I'd say I'm more optimistic though, overall. I've never been a pessimist when it comes to gender issues!

My gf has her Mars in Cancer and always stresses the need to want to feel safe and naturally wants me to be 'the brave one'. She also works very hard, doesn't like what she calls 'charity' (me paying for her) and wants a completely equal partnership as far as dependency's concerned. She likes eating indoors and specifically wants to take care of all the cooking then leave me to the dishes. She sometimes buys tops from the men's section as she prefers the way they fit and becomes passionately offended when shop staff point her in the direction of the women's section as if she's lost. She's the biggest sports fan I know and is reduced to tears when her favourite team have a bad game.
(Her Mars in Cancer is in the 7th house conjunct her Venus in Cancer)

Make of all that as you will ;D

My oldest daughter has Mars in Cancer. Not sure how this works out for her, but, in time things will come up and be revealed! Although, I think she'll follow in my coot steps and be somebody similar to how I am.

I reject gender roles and wish this societal construct would cease. I don't buy into stuff like that and strongly value the diverse individualities out there cause it embraces the authentic self.

My oldest has Moon, Venus, Mars and Jupiter in Cancer. I have Moon in Cancer and Mars in Capricorn.
