For me it's kinda obvious france is not leo. To me it is libra. They have always been obsessed with beauty since many years ago, their architecture and art are full of beauty and they give so much importance to aestetics but not just to "put on a good show" as leo may be, but it's for the mere sense of art.

To me leo would be england, by far.. All that queens and kings stuff, all the royal sense about them, England's musical scene and movies are great too, creative and nice.

France never seemed Leo to me. And I agree with lisalisa with countries that wear a lot of gold and are more glamorous to be Leo.

I find that most Libra-influenced individuals are very popular and everyone just seems to like them for no freaking reason. That's the same with France. I never understood the world's fascination with it. I mean, it's not the best country, but people still love it.

I thought England was Aquarius. This made sense to me and also made sense of Aquarius to me because of the eccentricity mixed with conservatism/fixed.

I can also see how France could be Leo though because they love art and the whole 'Louis' gilt furniture and ornate decor. Is it possible your teacher noticed something like France's sun was in Leo during that period?

Although libra makes sense too because of the weighing up aspect of things & art & ideas - even their philosophy is aesthetic in manner. My aunt lives there and said its funny that the French seem so carefree in conversations, in life but actually there's a lot of beaurocracy and its big on doing things in the proper manner. Maybe that's the saturn side of libra (if I have it right, does Saturn rule libra too?) Then there's the whole enamoured French style which is put together and understated just like IIbras dress.

Suprised at Poland because they seem austere people but it makes sense of their film style which I gather is dramatic.

What about Taurus? The love of sensual pleasures, the stereotype of the easy-going lifestyle surrounding food and conversation and art..

USA is cancer Sun, aqua Moon, saggy AC

Right now we are having transit Pluto opposed Sun and square Saturn. Very fitting considering our President is trying to destroy us from the inside out. Our weaknesses are all being exposed and all we can do is sit here looking foolish!

We started having issues back in 2008 when our economy crashed right as Pluto entered capricorn, our MC is libra@0.53.
Then Pluto moved opposite our cancer Jupiter@5, Venus@3 conjunction.
We won't be out of it for awhile we still have
Mercury cancer@24
Pluto cap@28
A Pluto return should be interesting!! I think I will visit another country for a few years!

According to Alice Bailey in "Destiny of the Nations," Leo governs the personality of France, while Pisces governs its soul.

Libra being Artistic is a prejudice in my humble opinion, Librans are talkers (politicians) or idealists like Gandhi or MLK Jr, also love Soap Operas and Fashion Clothing (South Korea like)

Currently "France" is a Libra. France's fifth republic was adopted in Oct 1958.

It was not a Libra at the time of WW2. But anyway, France didn't really have too much choice to align or not with the US. We've all worked with people we don't like. So the fact that they may not have been "compatible" is irrelevant. Although as was said, at the time France was a different sun sign.

Libra to me fits France considering it's motto: Liberté, égalité, fraternité. It's very Libra to me.

So finding a chart online makes this not debatable?

How long has France been in existence?
What is the date on this chart for France?

Is it this one by chance, cast for 6 October 1958, in which the author of the article
opens by saying, "France has many birth charts ..."? http://www.astro.com/nat/natfr_e.htm

Astrologers have difficulty with doing the proper historical research for an actual BIRTH chart of a nation because it can go back centuries to a time/location that may not be clear in history. Instead what tends to happen is that a new chart is cast for a recent time at which the government was reformed. But that is like saying each time I change jobs or move I should make a new birth chart based on that.

Astrology cannot function properly when based on simplistic sign-based stereotypes, especially when applied to entire nations.

What chart would you use, though? France has several, thanks to its different republics.

The current republic assuming you want to talk about current events. If you want to talk about historical events then I would use the chart of the period in question.

Actually, I think liberty, equality, and fraternity has to do with the zeitgeist of the 1790s during the French Revolutionary period when Uranus in Leo opposed Pluto in Aquarius for most of the decade up until 1798.
