My Gemini ASC and Aries Sun doesn't make me too reserved.

Booze is good for opening up. ha
Having the same/similar sense of humor.
Meaningful conversations.
Getting a sense that the person cares.

Reminds me of this Pisces guy (Scorpio ASC & Mars, Moon square Pluto) I *thought* about getting serious with once. The drama, the disrespect and the constant mental games turned me completely off. He pushed it too far and lost a damn good thing! All because he wanted to "test" somebody instead of just being open and secure enough to trust me.

Such a shame.

We had known each other for some time so perhaps that helped, but he ended up opening up to me through messaging first. In person, it wasn't so easy to get him to open up but he did at times.

I think they want to be understood on a deep level. Once they see that you understand them, they open up. Of course, they need to trust that you won't blab all this info to everyone.

I find it interesting that this is the same thing that I have experienced with air signs.

No matter the air sign, they seem to "open up" are are more receptive, when writing you a message or calling you.

Face to face, however, is another thing. Aquarius especially gets so aloof in person its very discouraging.

Are you an air Sun/Asc/Moon person yourself?

My Aquarius friend does this and it irks me.

When I am miles away, he will send me long messages and greeting to find out how I am and what I am up to etc.

But when we have face to face contact, he'll be busy on the phone with other people.

I often tell him that I feel most closest to him when I am miles away...kinda like that Madonna song

Yep, I'm a Gemini moon (with an Aquarius venus)

I can't justify him being glued to his phone in your presence though. I find that's just rude. :/ I think you should let him know how that makes you feel, he may lay off it a bit.

If you two are pretty close, he may feel like it's okay for him to be super casual with you. I do know Aquarius suns usually have a large network of friends and love interacting in a group, just not particularly in an intimate way.

Sorry, but even me with a ASC and Sun in Scorpio is tooooo much. My Leo Moon is uplift, loves to have good times.... but no way to become a psycologist of a "maybe-to-be" long-term boyfriend who still tests you. Sorry but for the next time I cross some Scorpio Moon, I'll run away from him!!
