Hello I am a twenty two year old college looking to learn another foreign language. I have a good grasp on latin, but that's a dead language. I am looking yo learn something useful. I've heard and seen a lot of French poets and philosophers be in cancer. Linda mentioned in sun signs about Geminis having an inclination toward French. But I'm not sold on that at all.

Any suggestions because I'm open!

Sun-cancer
Moon-Virgo
Mars-virgo
Ascendant- Sagittarius

Mandarin, because it is a tonal language, and I think your placements would lend themselves quite well towards becoming *properly fluent in that language.

And you'd be able to communicate with another 1 billion or so people

Also, which sign and house do you have Mercury in?

Haha that's a hard one! I've thought about that though.

Mercury in cancer, and in the eighth house.

I say Japanese.

I think it's a lovely language when spoken phonetically with a softer tone of voice. An Aquarius 3rd house cusp hints at your desire to speak another language.

Also, anime.

Mandarin,Spanish or the question occurs to
me, since you are asking based on sign Cancer. What are your ancestral roots?
Additionally what are you in college for, as in what do you itend to do with what degree?
I know a young man who as soon as he was out of college he went to France speaking little French. He went on a deal to teach English. Six months later he was in China teaching English knowing no Chinese language
when he arrived,
What do you see as future of the world regarding international commerce? Are you getting my drift?
Mandarin certainly a difficult language but immersion is likely the best way to learn any language.
In China if you have a degree in anything
you can likely get a job teaching English. Payment generally starts with a place to live
and fairly decent starting pay with regards to cost of living.
Spanish on the other had with variations
covers all of South America.
Just think you have to base this on more than your Sun was in Cancer when you were born.
The world is your sack of oysters, go find your pearl.

Italian... Romantic and melodic, easy enough for a Latin student, will help you navigate the best Italian restaurant menus
Seriously, for a Cancer, pick a language of your favorite cuisine, or...

Cancer with Sag rising, Virgo Mars possibly in 9th house?:
Get to know an exchange student really well, learn their language, then go visit their homeland and stay with their family for free. With Virgo in the mix pick a culturally advanced country where you may be able to get a work visa

I know how hard it is to really learn a language and I'm looking for advantages my ancestral roots are Scottish, Scandinavian, and some Dutch. I want to be a writer about economics, so Chinese would be helpful, but then I'd be stuck in that role. Thanks for the advice.

Economics eh? Cantonese would be the alternative to Mandarin if you ever plan on studying/working in Hong Kong. However, I've heard Cantonese is a bit more difficult to learn, but hey, a greater challenge is more rewarding upon completion

I'm a Cancer Sun with Mercury in Cancer and Moon in Gemini and I'm studying French. I think French is a beautiful language for Water signs -- romantic, artistic, and intriguing. I love philosophy, literature and poetry.

The next language I hope to learn is Japanese both Katakana and Hiragana.

Having Mercury in Cancer and North Node in the eighth house I study esoteric, symbols and signs. Funny, but Latin was my first language I studied in school, I picked it because of the mythology for the most part when I was fourteen years old and then into college. Always been interested in Mythology.

Good luck on your choice. I think Dutch is another option as well.

For a Cancer sun, definitely French or Italian... But I'm leaning more towards Italian.

One thing I really like about Russian culture is the fact that people are more honest and less politically correct. I vibe with that.

So how are Russians and Ukrainians getting along these days, generally speaking?
