Why do people assume Capricorn's to be boring or even depressing?I feel like if there's one sign that gets judged the most it's Capricorn. But maybe I'm just feeling a bit defensive  I know that people view Capricorn's nicely as well, in the sense that we're very motivated and determined to be successful. I'm a Capricorn sun and don't feel I'm boring or depressive as well. I know that we're so much more than our sun, but I admit, it gets annoying to hear that all the time. What exactly causes us to seem boring? Does it have anything to do with Saturn? IP: Logged |

Heh I think it's partly because of the culture. In certain parts of the world, like where I come from, traits that are often associated with earth signs are highly valued since a big part of the culture is fixated on security and material comfort (there are reasons for this but I'm not getting into that now). Guess how people view traits of the other signs? But these days all of that is changing. IP: Logged |

The only negative trait that associate with Capricorns is that they seem to be one of the most self-critical signs. Along with maybe Virgos..The thing I notice about SOME Capricorns is that they can be very straight forward. Some could see this as being 'boring' but it has always been a trait I've really liked about them. (xD.. Had to edit that first sentence.. Accidentally wrote it as 'the only trait' ) IP: Logged |

I definitely don't think Capricorns are depressing though. People who I've known with Sun in Capricorn, or just a strong Capricorn in general, seem to be some of the few people that can actually really cheer me up when I'm feeling not-so-great.IP: Logged |

I know a lot of people like Capricorn suns, especially when it comes to security / finances / material things... But I guess I needed to let how annoyed I am about the negatives I see about this sign. I feel like when it comes to the negatives, ours always seem worse. I mean honestly, who wants to be called boring?? lolReadingTheStars95, stop flirting with me!

Well caps certainly can have fun when given proper warnings. Saturn ruled people can be discipline and methodical. Some can have linear-thinking style. Some can be very focused on their goals they don't have much time left for things that they consider frivolous. These traits can make the natives seem boring to other people. Anyway, it's just that there is a set of negative traits that associated with every sign. It's true for some and not for others. Keep in mind that a lot of it is subjective. All the signs catch flack. Scorpio seems to get the most praise AND criticism. I've personally found Capricorns interesting. I was surprised to find quite a few I personally know are collectors of some kind (from comic books to antique weapons), even when a costly hobby, which I don't think I've ever read in their description. Generally speaking, I love doing business with Caps because I find them straightforward and honorable, and I also tend to like them as dinner guests and such as they often know a lot of interesting trivia and also very educated (this can be the self-educated kind). I'd never call them boring (at least not without a good reason for a person). And as for their pessimism, it's usually not that bad. My guess is that many in society have this belief that to overcome adversity you must "stay positive" and "it's rude to acknowledge the flaws openly" and "not jinks yourself with doubts." But whereas the "stay positive" crowd will quickly lose morale upon realizing the obstacles in the way a Cappie is more likely to be tenacious in overcoming them, and to me that makes Cappie more positive, if also more realistic. Maybe that's why plenty of Cappies do well, they prepare for the worst while hoping for the best and thus when setbacks occur as they almost inevitably will then Cappie is more prepared to deal with it rather than becoming demoralized. Because they focus on the negatives and can't see the good in people. That's really my answer to when people perceive negatives in people related to anything. I think what still makes me question humanity is when they think it's okay. Or when people use "Freedom of speech" as an excuse to justify what they're saying. IP: Logged |

I have dealt with a few strongly influenced cap/saturn types and they do have this bad habit of trying to restrict or be the constant negative "reality checker" for someone where there is none needed even. A girl i know with cap moon and merc also have a tendency to talk way too much about work, school, her goals etc and it gets boring to be in a convo with her tbh. IP: Logged |

I am anything but boring but I AM a realist and I tend to prefer living with the facts I have TODAY. Tomorrow I will deal with....tomorrow. The thing that might annoy some is that it's hard to "hide" from me as I don't like superficial things so if you have something to hide I will point it out. The reasons why people view Capricorn's as cold, boring and not interesting is because of a small minority which ruin it for the rest of the group.Capricorn's can be ruthless in achieving goals, or going after what they want; but it seems that people base their perceptions on social interactions with Capricorns. Some Cap's can get so focussed on working and staying disciplined, they miss out on the joys of life and taking a risk, resulting in them being left behind whilst everyone else is living a thrilling life. Also Cap's can have a restricted amount of hobbies due to work, which means they have less to talk about other than working or achieving, and people don't always want to talk about work! They are great business people, economists, etc. But some of them need to take a few more risks and open up more! Saturn will help you! ------------------

I love capricorns. I think they are amazing. The reason why people think they are cold, boring, depressing or whatever is because they are different in the ways they express themselves. Honestly, capricorns are so caring and can make someone feel so special. But I guess it also has to do with how a capricorn deals with saturn's lessons. Those who cannot seem to grow and struggle with saturn may be actually drained of life. Maybe. IP: Logged |

The only cap I know is very popular and great company although she benefits from a sag moon & venus trine moon. I did once talk to a cap man online and he did seem boring to me although he clearly wasn't, in terms of his life and education but I didn't feel emotion even online, it was flat - could be synastry but also I'm sure in person he was anything but and online didn't do him any favours as online can be a gimmicky platform for personality and caps don't seem gimmicky ie classic, longevity. I'm taurus and we always get called boring but I mind less than I used to because any sign can be boring - it just depends how & when you interact with them. For example, the partier is not going to be deemed as interesting when still sat at a bar later in life (though they'll have acquired and use all the tools of light-hearted interaction). For me, I always think of earth signs as having so much more beneath the surface especially when churned up. I know I often am attracted to pluto types and fire because they disturb my surface and open that up. IP: Logged |

My Sister is a Capricorn. Probably the most negative trait I've noticed in her situation is that she has such a strong desire for achievement, success, and recognition that sometimes I feel like she won't actually end up enjoying what it is she ends up doing.She was always the student that took all the hardest classes that were offered, simply because they were the hardest. Same with her Major. Not to say she won't like what she ends up doing. But, I know she's had moments where she has even admitted that she isn't sure she will. There were times it seemed as if this came from some type of inner insecurity. That she isn't good enough. Specifically, for other people. I've noticed at times she can become very obsessive in relationships.. Almost as if she's gotten in some of them simply to hear that she is loved. To know that she is capable of being loved. Of course, it's not my place to judge. But, I do believe she is overly self-critical at times. I do believe some of what I've mentioned deals with a few other aspects in her chart. But, that strong, overwhelming drive to succeed and everything she does I personally attribute to her Capricorn Sun

I agree with this. Actually I think all Capricorns sometimes act like the police.
Well I just did on another subforum. And I don't like doing that, actually, but if I feel that something really needs to be said, I'm going to say it. And Caps know our popularity takes a hit when we take a stand like that. Lately there have been jokes that we try to be popular...honestly, I don't think we do. And sometimes people see our stoic exterior and cannot see, imagine, or remember that underneath there's a more complicated soul. Capricorn is a musical sign. I got a soft spot for capricorns maybe its cuz yall rule my fourth house.I look at caps like this, they reach out to whoever they trust one time. Caps are sensitive just like cancers but what cancers relish in caps ignore. So of they get rejected the first time it may take a while for them to ask again. But if you are real with Capricorn, they will be a loyal, loyal friend. Idk why yall get judged so hard, every Capricorn I meet we click easily. The thing I like most about capricorns is the conversations. They can get on some real **** and some deep **** , my merc in Scorpio digs that but their advice is genuine b/c they take an objective view on a subjective issue and sometimes you need to be objective. Yall are very practical too. Very down to earth. Yea caps get depressed but one thing about them is they don't drag you down with them. Even when they are depressed, if they love you they will sacrifice their feelings to help you or guide you. Capricorns are very misunderstood and alot of times they are caught between being strong and needing support. They do need to know its ok to have moments where you collapse, that doesn't make you weak it just means you're exhausted IP: Logged |

Yes they do. They say comments to make you look bad even though deep down they are insecure and dont believe they are better than you.I have known several caps. Most caps I know don't drag people down on purpose, and don't find one-upmanship appealing. Some don't do it because it doesn't give any results worth noting - pointless. Some who are more devious don't do it because it creates unnecessary resentment that can be detrimental to their ladder climb. It's sort of like revealing one's weak spots. The depressed ones are most likely to sulk on their own away from everyone, either because they want to protect their pride, or because they don't want to cause others to worry. I've never been depressed, but when I'm sad, disappointed or in a rotten mood, I almost always choose to isolate myself for a while and vent my dark thoughts to the walls. Another thing is that caps give credit when it's due. Resilience is highly valued. It's not about status, it's about what people have done to get to where they are. I personally admire people who play the hands they're dealt and play to the best of their ability. IP: Logged |

You're literally generalizing one sign by thinking they're all the same. If you really feel they are all insecure and make comments to make others look bad, think about what kind of person YOU are. When people act a certain way to someone, they will have a reaction. So there must be something you're doing if you really see ALL capricorns as insecure / trying to drag someone else down. I'm a Capricorn and have 3 Cap family members as well as have been friends with plenty. Out of all of my Capricorn friends, only one hurt other people intentionally. But that has to do with so much more than him having a Capricorn sun. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with Cap suns but the beginning of your post is just unfair and rude to stereotype us ALL like that. IP: Logged |
