How may of you feel that you over-identify with the physical aspect of yourself? And what placement do you think is responsible for this?IP: Logged |

Earth placements, probably. Earth ascendant, perhaps? Since earth is associated with the physical realm. Not sure about what would exaggerate such tendencies though. --- While I don't think I over identify with my physical body in general, there is one specific thing that I focus on, perhaps more than the average person. My height/small frame. I've always been aware of it, due to numerous bad and neutral experiences. Somewhere along the line, even though I didn't mean for it to happen, my height/frame started to become a part of my identity. IP: Logged |

You mean like ,?? a spiritual being having physical experiences or a physical being loosely in touch with the higher self? I sense my Jupiter Saturn(at ic) conjunction keeps me bouncing, feast or famine spiritual and material. ------------------ LeekingChee IP: Logged |

I feel this way and for me I feel the placement most responsible is Saturn/Neptune exact conjunct Capricorn ASC. Afflicted Libra Moon and afflicted Capricorn ASC I think are my biggest contributors. IP: Logged |

I don't feel in touch enough with my body. I almost feel like I'm just "in" it... rather than feeling like I "am" it.This is something I feel I need to overcome though. My NN is in Taurus conjunct Venus.. so I need to get more in touch with my physical body and really feel like I am *all* here. I see this as connected to the Water-Earth axis... Those with Water SN will feel completely out of touch with the physical - while those with Earth SN can over-identify with the physical. IP: Logged |

What I mean is; one may look in the mirror and be okay with "what is". Another could look in the mirror and notice things about their body that they do not like and feel like they are defined by them etc. I have noticed that some people have a fear of gaining weight or "letting themselves go": Wanting to preserve/improve "what is". Others are however less intent-full about that. Letting their physical beauty and the things of youth go-as they age. Because they have defined themselves as something else. I don't know if that is clear ? IP: Logged |

Hmmm, not quite. I mean in the sense of thinking that your physical body defines who you are.And thus judge others in the same manner So in other words, if you have less than perfect physical features; you believe yourself too short/too tall, too skinny/too fat etc. You think that makes you "less" of the person you would like to be. Or perhaps even when you age, gain weight and all the physical attributes change. You believe yourself "losing" who you are. Because you look at yourself in the mirror to not recognize who you see.

In that case I'm part of the "defined by your body" club. It's not that I feel very grounded in it, but I definitely come from a place where I feel like my body defines me (at least in other people's eyes, but it may be a projection).Slowly moving away from that idea/feeling though, as I don't actually believe that my body defines ME, as a person (because there's much more to me than that), but I suppose the external pressure weighs on me (feeling too flawed, unattractive according to social standards, etc). I have ASC conj. SN (Gemini) both square MOON and CHIRON (Virgo). IP: Logged |

Saturn on the Asc has the effect of "stay as you are" etc. At times, it also ages people . But I don't think it is as conscious aesthetics or the over-identification with them Saturn tends to focus oneself on self-improvement. But this is likely to be in tangible, material terms or status. Not something as "fleeting" as looks. Now Libra Moon often connects feelings to how others receive them. So image here can be extremely imprint. If the Libra Moon is not confident in his/her looks, they may project this ideal to the partner; being involved with someone very good-looking etc. Others however, do what they can to keep their looks and get very depressed when others do not compliment them the same way/as fervently as they once did. Fascinating. And I agree. Often those with SN in water/water sign, feel the emotional realm to be more familiar territory. Getting in touch with the physical aspect of life and more importantly your own physical body, sounds very much like a Taurus NN thing. One of the ways this may manifest could be material without/externally; what I have. This could either be through the collection of valuables and thus the continual preservation of these. Or one could project this value to themselves, seeing their looks and body as a "valuable" and doing what they can to preserve it. IP: Logged |

I am thinking that perhaps earth signs/house?But I also think that 7th house/Libra placements also play a role. The former has a key interest in their physical aspects and functionality; particularly Virgo(everything must work well) and Taurus(everything must look/feel good). The latter is more interested in getting supportive responses from others- which then helps to affirm their own idea about themselves;"I indeed am handsome/pretty. Look at how many people's heads I turn" etc. IP: Logged |

to Aries23,You believe yourself "losing" who you are. Because you look at yourself in the mirror to not recognize who you see. Not at all,, I have never thought of myself as what I see in the mirror. Yet I know this body needs to last a while yet, so take care of IT,, but I am not the IT. ------------------ LeekingChee IP: Logged |

I relate to this somewhat...I feel like it would be impossible for me to gain weight. As if, once I gained weight, I would be another person. (edits overtalking) It's almost like I identify with a lack of a physical body (?) I'm not super thin or anorexic, I just don't want too much substance weighing me down. Ethereal placements, including 12H Saturn and Pisces moon square Neptune. IP: Logged |

I'm wondering if you ever get moments when you feel like you're "outside of your body, looking at yourself". What with all of your neppy influence. For me, such moments pops up quite often. I remember as a child there were times when I felt as though I were at some higher place, looking down at my own self. While it doesn't escalate to full blown depersonalization disorder, it sure is upsetting. It sometimes feels like I have to fight and cling to this body so I don't drift away. Heh, having NN in the first house, I want to be "present" and "seen". With my 12th house bunch, naturally I'm "flying under radar". I seem to subconsciously want to mark my presence, by like the volume of my voice, or how I stare at people in the eyes...etc.. IP: Logged |

Do you have nightmares where you are floating away?No I don't. In your dreams are you looking out at the world through your eyes or are you like looking at yourself in camera vision? In my dreams, both of these occur. Occasionally I get in a sort of dream-like state (without being asleep and dreaming), where my mind seems to disconnect with my body and hence doesn't have control over physical movements. You know sometimes it's like in one of those horror movies. You look at your own reflection in the mirror and the reflection starts to take on a life of its own. Or it can feel like something takes over your body and your "soul" gets kicked out. IP: Logged |

Mercury/Virgo/12thI've thought about this and still it confuses me. Awareness vs identify Many times I feel like I'm stuck in a capsule. As if I'm just along for this ride. I'm very aware of my body, that others identify me by it, and that I identify them by their bodies. I'm very aware of my physical self in the world and sort of how others see it. Yet, while I love sleeping, I love food, those things still feel like a drag sometimes. They feel like weights on the ankles. I used to be suicidal mainly because of such things. Feeling so different and that I couldn't find identity in this physical world. I even wrote such things in my notes to those that I would leave behind. That in those moments I felt so exhausted, so weighted down. Having so many needs and having so much pressure to be someone in the physical body was just too much. Heck it makes me get watery eyed right now. Back then I certainly wasn't a spiritual person and I think that was part of the problem. I didn't understand WHY I felt so "heavy". I'm still very unsure of the purpose but that's ok. What's important is that I DEFINITELY feel like a spiritual being in a physical body. Therefore I'm not sure if I identify, or if I'm simply aware. I understand that this is MY physical body. But for example, if I argue with someone here. It's only if I take time to really think about it, I become aware of the dividing line of my physical, conscious self that is arguing and a higher self which is muted in a way. It's weird and probably I sound crazy. The consciousness and physical world are so powerful and consuming that sometimes I forget that I'm much more than that. (And so are you all) Ha! I didn't think I'd write all of that. I wasn't even sure how to answer at first. IP: Logged |
