What in a natal chart or even synastry would point to someone who is oblivious to signs of affection or love? For example, if someone told them they loved this person and cared for them, but the person has a hard time believing it or doesn't see it as what it really is. Would that be hard aspects to moon and venus in the natal and/or synastry?

Thank you Athens! I just checked the natal chart and none of those. Synastry?

Well, I have Venus in Aqua and would say that it's hard to 'feel' loved and probably vice versa... Which might support the idea of not recognizing expressions of love...

Not sure what else...

Venus- Saturn hard aspect. These people feel unworthy of being loved the old fashioned way.

Sun - Saturn hard aspect - low self esteem, as if - How can you love ME?

So I looked at the chart again. (thanks for all the responses btw)

And there is a hard aspect from the sun to saturn (sq)
and then there is a moon sq neptune

The sun sq saturn is actually less than 1.0 deg. So it's pretty tight.

Venus square Moon
Venus square Mars
Venus semisextil Jupiter
Venus sesquisquare Saturn
Venus trine Uranus
Venus trine Neptune
Venus quintile Pluto
Venus square MC

You know what i kinda agree with this about venus in virgo. We don't have self esteem issues, we just don't know unless we're hit over the head with it.

what about any other planets in virgo, like sun or mercury? Or maybe a virgo moon? Similar?

In my experience, Pisces (at least in men)... and mainly Pisces Moon.

It doesn't matter what you do... Pisces Moon will still think you're cheating on them or dating other men.. and that what you really feel for them is "sexual attraction", not true love :\

I think the trouble starts when they get their definition of "true love" from Disney, well into adulthood.

Well maybe Virgo as well... I see where people are coming from.

It could be the Pisces-Virgo axis... Self-esteem issues?

This person is a Sag sun but is squared by Pisces saturn.

^ Interesting...

Sagittarius also has some issues that I was going to mention... But they are not usually so serious.
Maybe the Saturn square worsens things.

Is it just safe to say that any hard aspects from Saturn to personal planets makes it difficult for the person?

With Saturn, things get better with age as it
takes time to master the lessons being taught,
lets just change difficult to challenging so to be less discouraging, lol

No, Virgos don't have low self esteem in the least. Anybody but Virgos.

Pisces are also not in this category of not accepting/not believing someone loves them. They are actually the opposite - believe someone loves them even when they are not.

It's the Saturn hard aspects to Sun and Venus, even Moon, at work.

Ok, hard aspects from Saturn is at work. I'm not sure how I even missed this but their mercury conjuct their Sag sun, both squared by Saturn in Pisces. Very interesting, I never would have thought.

It's a tough one.

Right we don't read romantic social cues very well.

The second part of your statement can be true at times also....where even if they hit me over the head with it i feel the need to go "...who me? Just checking" not so much because i believe I'm unlovable far from it i just don't want to feel stupid if they were checking out the person standing behind me or something lol.

Oh my god, I totally agree with this. I freak out (in a really terrified manner) when someone shows romantic gestures to me. Anything romantic scares the crap out of me. The one time, I told the guy I liked about the romantic dream I had about us and I said it was "gay". He just laughed bc it apparently wasn't.

I still find it difficult to imagine someone being into me but I've been paying attention to signs of affection a lil more.

I Venus in Virgo conjunct Mercury, square Pluto, sextile Moon. Not too many aspects there, but it's conjunct my chart ruler, which makes the Virgo effect even more pronounced.

I think when Saturn touches Venus it gives that person the sense of being "unlovable" because they have to EARN it somehow, even with the soft aspects. The soft aspects differ I think in that it just feels like a naturally acceptable way of life instead of a hard chore. It gives one the sense that they really have to prove their worth to someone in order to feel justified in receiving that love (and I'm talking real nitty-gritty love, not the fleeting type a brief rendezvous gets you).

I think heavily Plutonian types who have a hard time trusting others may experience this too, but for different reasons (i.e. Scorpio Moons). For them, love is not black and white. There are too many shades of grey and "what-ifs" for them to trust in the process completely. There is always some dark entity lurking around the corner, waiting to snatch away their happiness. They are essentially waiting for the other shoe to drop or for the "catch" because they can't just TRUST that someone may really love them.

Low self-esteem also plays a part, which I'm sure is explained by a myriad of natal placements. There is always someone prettier or smarter or richer etc. than them and they can't understand why their partner would love them when they could just as easily love another who they deem to be "better" than them.
