I have noticed that retro planets in hard aspect to the Ascendant, do not match the regular description.

Perhaps it's the same with the chart ruler.

You might have a point there. Or maybe it's because my Mercury's got so many cool aspects which I can use to my advantage.

I think aspects to the ASC reflect the various ways you approach life and new situations. Chart ruler aspects seem more about the various themes your life is centered on.

I thought I would chime in.

I have a Cap rising (18º)
Saturn is at 19ª Cancer in the 4th house.
My Aries Sun is trine Saturn, and if I follow the rules of planetary rulership, every planet in my chart eventually bows to Saturn by aspect, except Jupiter who happened to be home that day.

4th House issues - yes. My home life or my actual home has always been a struggle. I would eventually like to rehabilitate an old decrepit house so I could at least enjoy the struggle somewhat.

I think Mars being in Capricorn and exalted, (though perhaps a bit weakened by the 12th house) maybe gives me the inner strength to fight the battles?

Thank you for your insights. I have three t-squares, oddly enough. Apexes are the sun, moon, and Uranus. But the sun is my chart ruler and it's a singleton. Probably outshines the others.

Is it in Cancer or the 4th? It cannot be both.
