^ My s.o is a virgo venus, and he also likes the freshly-bathed clean scent. And the scent of sun dried laundry. He's a libra sun, he preens aggressively but he doesn't wear cologne. He doesn't even like perfumed products, only buys fragrance free ones.

It's gone up so much in price lately that I am reluctant to buy any, but oh, I love that smell! And I'm also a fan of geranium. Lately, for some reason, my favorite scent combo has been sage and bergamot, or cedarwood and geranium. The stuff I like the least is clove, cinnamon, etc. A bit too thick/heavy for me. But I do like a touch of patchouli with something light/floral.
I love that we're both into essential oils I don't have cedarwood but wonder what it smells like with bergamot...hmmm.... I don't know that much, but I have a huge collection of oils (mmm...not huge....maybe 20 different kinds, or 25.) All stored in a cedar box that now smells so good because of them. I put blank bookmarks (cardstock) into the chest and then draw on them...they smell so yummy even though it's a mix of ALL these scents. Which gave me the idea that essential oils just blend well, and has made me kinda fearless about mixing this and that. So I have a Sandalwood soap for the shower, followed by Weleda Rose bath wash. Neither scent lasts long, I don't think. Then I use a hand-made body lotion from New Hampshire that I can't get enough of...the smell is like an aphrodisiac according to my husband (who encouraged me to buy a huge supply.) These products don't list the oils but the saleslady referred to it as the sandalwood collection. That was a long story but I'm done now, I think... IP: Logged |

woohoo!I was thinking of some combinations to try with my essential oils today too! Felt good spending a majority of my day doing that! I made my first roller ball perfume about a year ago. When it comes to making my own stuff, I really seem to like the citrus, with a dash of flowers! I like finding scents I like that complement the bottle too. The perfume I made has Orange, Tangerine, Lavender, Grapefruit, Lime, and lily of the valley. All of them are essential oils except of the lily of the valley that is a fragrance oil. I dilute it in grape seed oil I need to refill it since it's a 5 ml bottle. Good one to keep in the purse. Not the strongest smelling perfume, but that's fine since I'm just starting out. Generally, when reading the reviews/forums I tend to see people disagreeing with whatever it is that they should like based on Sun sign alone. Mind you, it might be that the scent profiles aren't truly representing the signs well. I think Venus would play a role for sure. 5th House ruler is an interesting theory. I never thought of that. I could see that effecting things too....
That reminds me, I sprayed Jasmine water at my sister's house. And she told me it smells like animal p!ss to her. She is a Libra Sun. It's not my favorite smell but I can tolerate it. I'm an Aries. But I try to keep that in mind if I ever get jasmine essential oil. I later read that jasmine is an acquired taste. IP: Logged |

I use to have Tuscany orange! I kept it in my purse! Came in handy since some people I hang out with don't buy bathroom spray. Sorry TMI. IP: Logged |

I have not noticed my boyfriend ware any cologne or notice any at his apartment. He just puts on deodorant. He did buy a candle a while ago, and it was "clean linen" go figure. He is a triple Virgo Luckily he doesn't mind perfume on me. He will compliment me, and I notice he wants to be closer than usual on the couch, when I wear my Britney Spears Curious. IP: Logged |

Playing around with different scents, I found I really like Grapefruit and Lily of the Valley Together. I just haven't put it in a bottle yet. Smells so good, and feels super girly to me. If 5th house plays a part in perfume taste. Mine is in Libra. And that must explain why the outer presentation is important to me. I am a sucker for a pretty looking bottle. For making perfume I ordered some very pretty and cool looking bottles. I have no idea how this smells, but I am so drawn to this bottle. IP: Logged |

May not be a perfume.. But, my favorite scent of all time is probably pure, genuine Dragon's Blood resin/incense. It has to be pure, and the real thing though. I've noticed a lot of the incense sticks you can buy in shops that are labeled "Dragons Blood" generally also have something else mixed in with it.. And it's hard to know how authentic some of them are. It's a fiery scent, but, it also seems to have a bit of an earthiness to it too. I tend to like warm, fiery scents. Cinnamon, Dragon's Blood, Ginger. I also tend to like airy scents.. Things like Jasmine, Vanilla(may be kind of watery too..), Sage.. Ooo, and Lilacs.. Fresh ones. I like lavender too. I'd say that Lavender and Jasmine are 2 scents that I really have to be in a certain mood to burn, if in incense form. Peppermint isn't bad either. Oh, and Licorice/Anise! Especially when it is blended just right with a couple of other scents. Sandalwood is nice too! I would say that to me, sandalwood is a very good neutralizing scent. Kind of warm, earthy, and kinda just calms and levels things out. Hmmm.. IP: Logged |

I love the smell of lilies, and have considered buying lily EO, but it doesn't come in the brand I normally use, and it's more spendy than a lot of EOs. I also really wish someone would come up with a way to make a lilac EO! Lilacs...mmmmmmmm. IP: Logged |

Just stock up bit by bit then I'm flat-out greedy about them, my sun square Jupiter excessiveness is apparent here. ...What happened is, I made a friend who used to work for an essential oils company in Germany. As she discussed the oils, I would purchase them...then I bought books about using them. However, the recipes for homemade cosmetics have not worked for me, and the ingredients were expensive, so I just quit. But I quit with some annoying little gaps in the collection...and HAD to buy Frankincense and HAD to buy Jasmine (right? Didn't I? #Thoroughness.)

That's funny about the jasmine. I had thought that maybe I didn't care for the jasmine scent because I had bought a cheaper brand. I guess it's not just me, then. I need to get some more frankincense, but again it's one of the moderately more expensive scents (not as bad as sandalwood, though).

A woman that I later dated, when she first met me she had a little to drink but kept remarking about how good I smelled. "Doesn't he smell so good??" She'd say. "What do you have on?""Ummm. Soap." It was Old Spice body wash and I had even worked that day. LOL It's weird though. For not wearing cologne often I do get rooms that I smell good. I just like to keep clean, that's all. IP: Logged |

Yeah, I can actually somewhat agree with the Jasmine thing. That's why I said that it REALLY depends on my mood and a couple of other factors. Sometimes I practically hate it lol.. Other times, I enjoy it. The times I enjoy it are usually around the end of a long day, right around that period where I'd begin dozing off. Very situational. Then there are other times where it doesn't even have to be at the end of the day and it makes me really sleepy. I usually like it during those occurrences lol It would probably be the kind of scent I might burn on a chilly, rainy, Spring morning.. With the windows open, letting the cool air linger in. It isn't one of those scents I can use/burn all the time. Unlike Dragon's Blood, which is something I am almost always in the mood for. And sandalwood.. That's another one I am pretty much open to using at any time. Lol IP: Logged |

I was surprised my sister didn't like it, especially since her favorite disney Princess growing up was Jasmine.

I have Venus in Aries in the 8th and moon in Virgo... And I would never wear an unnatural scent... I only use high-quality essential oils... (I say high-quality only because I don't use anything laden with pesticides or support crops that are harvested with poor intentions). I only wanna support companies that are natural, have high standards, and respect the earth. And honestly, unnatural scents are really repulsive to me.IP: Logged |
