I haven't been here in a while, but I'm back and I'm doing a little bit of research on how Mercury works in attraction. This came to me while I was browsing through the charts of the people I have been romantically involved with or attracted to. I noticed many of them had Mercury Rx in their charts (Aries Rx, Taurus Rx, Libra Rx, etc). This was a pretty interesting find for me because I almost never pay attention to Mercury when it comes to reading synastry charts or judging attraction levels. I am heavily influenced by Mercury so that's another reason why I'm looking into this. My theory is that Mercury Rx people are attracted to Mercury-influenced people (whether Gemini/Virgo or prominent Mercury/3rd house in the charts) because it somehow makes up for the effects of the retrograde in them. I personally do not know what Mercury Rx means in the natal chart, so if someone could help me out with this, that would be helpful. If you're a person with Mercury Rx, please tell me about your experiences with Mercurian people (if you have any). ------------------ Gemini Rising Sun in Leo (2nd house) Moon in Cancer (1st house) Mercury in Virgo (3rd house conj.) Venus in Virgo (3rd house) Mars in Libra (5th house) "You were born a lion. Don't die a sheep." ~ Leos ♌️ IP: Logged |

I have Mercury Rx in Scorpio. Never really considered this in relation to attraction to others. I can say that I do enjoy intellectual people that are not superficial in their thinking, but I think that is more of a Scorpio thing.I don't feel attracted to the energy of the mercurial types as a way to compensate for my own lack of something. The only difference I can tell with Mercury Rx people is that we are often better with the written word, and not so much the spoken word on the fly. It is not a thing of lack or weakness, it's just different. I also believe we often need time to "think" some more about something, and don't often act on impulse. I therefore don't respond well to impulsive people who don't think of potential consequences. IP: Logged |

I've absolutely noticed a huge correlation of people with Sun conj Mercury natally being attracted to me. My Mercury is RX, and it's also my chart ruler (Virgo ASC), so Mercury-esque people definitely seek each other out. Mental stimulation, curiosity for how each other's mind works, unique perspectives to gain, etc. IP: Logged |

Your theory applies to me but it has to bc my mercury in virgo rx rules my 7th, I have Sun in Virgo as well... Ex has moon in the 6th and sun-uranus in the 3rd and virgo rising.
Ex lover has Moon-Mars, northnode and Jupiter in the 3rd. Partner has Sun, pluto, mercury and eros in the 6th and jupiter and juno in virgo. Also, I have been interested in the past in 3 Venus in geminis and my current best friend has Venus in gemini. IP: Logged |

Whoa, OP! I think you are on to something here! My so has Mercury Rx in Sag. I have Sun conj. Mercury in 3rd house in Pisces. Our mercuries are in tight square. We don't seem to have difficulty communicating though I have to be aware that I need to remember to express what's in my head and stop assuming that he knows what I mean. On top of that, Both of our 7th house rulers is Mercury (his: Virgo; mine: Gemini) IP: Logged |

My mercury Rx seems to like mercury in scorpio, people who see beneath the surface and really dig deep, also people who think outside the box and are not mainstream. I admire my husband's mind a lot; he has mercury in scorpio in the 6th with Duad in Scorpio too and Dwad in Aries. I don't think it's necessarily to compensate for what Mercury Rx people lack. I honestly don't know how to word what I mean, but it has something to do with Mercury Rx having a natural affinity with Mercurian people because their Mercury is somehow activated or something. quote: Everyone:
I am seeing a trend here, although most of you guys have Mercury ruling the 7th house. That probably affects the attraction as well. I'll probably wait for more replies. What I have found with most Mercury Rx people is that they like to think first before acting on something, which is a good thing. Even with this one guy I used to be involved with who had Mercury in Aries, he didn't seem so Aries to me when it came to his way of thinking. He was not impulsive and he always took others into consideration before making decisions--much like a Libra. I personally think the attraction to Mercurian people is because of the way Mercurians like to think things through. I see a major compatibility in this area. IP: Logged |

I have Cancer mercury RX in fourth house... I can,t say it affects me specifically.I'm attracted to power or powerful figures mostly (Scorpio dominance) but also good figure and a nice, balanced figure (Libra moon). But I'll never fall for a guy if he can't hold his ground against me in an intellectual debate. If I don't feel like he can make me learn things or if I feel like I'll never be intellectually challenged, I'll never be capable of involving myself in the relationships. But that may be Gemini Sun playing in there (also fourth house) I'm attracted to people who thinks deeps and who, like me, can see between the lines of what people says and feels. Usually I find my partner in Scorpio or Aquarius(Sun/Rising/Dominant/whatever) IP: Logged |

Oh wow this is really interesting! I have Mercury Rx in Scorpio and yeah I am extremely attracted to Virgos and Geminis! I hate superficial talk and I'm also attracted to people with Scorpio in their chart. I enjoy conversations with no barriers where any topic can be discussed freely IP: Logged |

Mercury retrograde Libra 5th conjunct Venus & square Neptune I'm attracted to all sorts of people for different reasons Romantically I'm open --intellectual people puzzle me and I envy how they can live In the present so much that they just let things go so easily and forget about situations as if they mean nothing Now, my memory is not that great, but I like to savor an experience And I can't keep up with the fast paced style I try to but I'm just not wired that way IP: Logged |

True for me. The people I've been most attracted to usually have Mercury Retrograde in the natal or else in the progressed chart. The ones with Merc going Retro or Direct in the pChart have given me the strongest electrical charge. Same if they're born within a day of a Merc Retrograde or Direct station. Magnetic!! I always thought it was Sun-Venus, or Venus-Mars, Sun-Moon or other Gemini placements. Gemini, w/ Virgo Asc. IP: Logged |

I have sun conj 12th house rx sag mercury. My s.o has three virgo placements, so do three of my closet friends. These three friends all have virgo mercury, two have gem mars. My s.o has scorp mercury conj pluto I don't often find myself romantically attracted to people who have a healthy dose of mercury influence, but I notice and pay more attention to them than others. Especially if their mercurian traits are strong and obvious - inquisitive, eloquent...etc... IP: Logged |

VirgoPILL, that must be quite frustrating!! I share part of that as I have the Merc square to the Ascendant and had my fair share of frustration. I know someone who has Merc Rx in Cappy and he was/is and probably always WILL be attracted to me and vice versa (soulmates). I have strong Mercury. When we communicated I used to say I want to be more like him; laid back, and he wanted to be more like me; in yer face. He is very go with the flow but needs a lot of time to think things through. This could take too long for my quick and witty ways. Like to me hard to understand. He kind of accepted the way he is. Not being able to word what he truly feels. He loves the way I word and analyse things very quickly where he needs more time and even then cannot word things. He is more intuitive I guess. And when he says things they are rock solid. Which I doubt is the case with me. Changeable and always seeing things from other sides, flexible and never rigid or cut in stone. I find it attractive too that someone shows me the opposite. I have Virgo Asc. with Mercury Gemini conjunct Gemini MC. IP: Logged |

I can be very agile and walk fast very smooothly to perfection but also have a very clumsy side. Mercury rx conjuncts my MC and semisquares my saturn. I guess my clumsiness and slip ups are very public, I get an audience when I am clumsy making me seem clumsier and stupid when I am actually pretty smart with my deficits yes and no genius but very smart in some ways but not in a very mainstream way, there is so much common knowledge that I am oblivious to, things that others typically pay attention to I don't and just goes right through my head but you can say that things that people tend to ignore and goes right through their heads I pick up on and want to learn more about.^this applies to my thinking process too. I can be very foggy distractable benefitting from repetition but my thinking process can be very agile smooth and deep as well. You will think I am smart but also notice how I am oblivious to certain information and I suppose that will puzzle you about me. IP: Logged |

Chiming in on my experiences. I'm considered to be a 'retrograde person' by most standards as only 2 of the planets in my essential chart are not retrograde or on the verge of being so (stationary direct).Mercury in Gemini 18° SD //10th house Venus in Gemini 16° RX //10th house Saturn in Sagittarius 28° RX //4th house Uranus in Sagittarius 28° RX //4th house Neptune in Capricorn 8° RX //4th house Pluto in Scorpio 9° RX //3rd house ---- In general, the people I am closest to and find a brilliant streak of genius in are people with Mercury RX in their own chart. Communication, to me (possibly due to the Mercury + Venus in Gemini in my chart) is at the utmost importance for me in my personal relationships. RX people just don't miss the beat. They think about things deeper. Sometimes they take a moment to think or pause in interest, but they usually come back with something insightful to say that I either haven't heard before or make me feel more connected to the world. This could, however, be in part because I am a 'retrograde person' . I stick out like a sore thumb and I'm absolutely sure most people I encounter as well as my friends find me a bit weird. I've read somewhere on this forum that SD planets are often stronger in a chart than those that are either direct or stationary. I get a lot of compliments on my dating profile that I'm incredibly good at expressing who I am and what I'm looking for almost to the point where people sort of think they "get" me before they meet me. I've always had a bit of a talent for communicating deeper things -- never superficial. Pleasant superficial conversation makes me hole up like nothing else. In the end I'm not entirely sure I can give you an answer on this on my own. All answers will be anecdotal at best unless a quantitative study is done. IP: Logged |
