I've been meaning to do this for a long time...assemble a "study" of each Mercury placement using video clips of celebrities. Mercury just entered Aries today, so here we go.
http://www.astrotheme.com/celebrites/mercury/aries/1.htm

All degrees given are for Aries Mercury.
All with known birth times, showing aspects with 2° orb or less.
Click on names for videos.

Kourtney Kardashian, 0° trine Cancer Jupiter
Kate Hudson, 1° trine Cancer Jupiter, sextile Cap moon
Albert Einstein, 3° conjunct Saturn, POF
Queen Elizabeth II, 4°
Jennifer Garner, 4°, trine Sag Neptune, square Cancer ASC, semisextile Gemini Saturn
Adam Levine, 7° quincunx Virgo Saturn-BML
Victoria Beckham, 9° trine Sag Neptune exact
Leonardo DaVinci, 9°
Mariah Carey, 10°
Al Pacino, 11°
Shakespeare, 16° square ASC, trine POF
Michelle Pfeiffer, 20° opposite POF
Robert Downey Jr, 21° semisextile Taurus moon
Sarah Jessica Parker, 22° semisextile Taurus Jupiter
Adolf Hitler, 25° conjunct DSC
Marlon Brando, 27° semisextile Taurus Venus
Michael Fassbender, 28°, semisextile Taurus Jupiter
Mark Zuckerberg, 29° opposing Scorpio Pluto, trine Cap Neptune
Ewan McGregor, 29° quincunx Virgo Pluto

Unknown time:
Keira Knightley, James Franco, Quentin Tarantino, Channing Tatum

After watching those, I can see how at least parts of this would apply, especially the directness, candor, innocent charm, fun and sometimes crude talk:

quote:
Mercury in Aries communicators make quick decisions--so quick that you might think they don't much like thinking things over. The truth is, Aries communicators don't have a lot of patience for mulling. Their decisions are often driven by the need for instant gratification.

Mercury in Aries men and women are generally quick and to the point in their communications. They are direct and candid, and some may even think their style is crude at times. At times, they can come across as downright aggressive, but that usually happens when they encounter opposition to their opinions and ideas. It is generally a result of frustration, because Mercury in Aries almost childishly assumes that others will accept their opinions smoothly. There is a sensitivity and defensiveness to Aries, and when Mercury is placed in the sign, natives tend to be quite personally attached to their ideas.

These people have a tendency towards streamlined learning. They prefer not to get bogged down in details, and are adept at dismissing what they feel are irrelevant details.

There's a certain innocent charm to Aries communicators. Many will appreciate this sign's utilitarian approach. You can pretty much count on them being straight with you, even if their Sun Sign is the more indirect Pisces.

This Mercury position favors starting new things. Aries is not attached to outdated ideas, and generally adopts an enthusiastic style. Criticism or negative feedback can be taken personally. Still, they are not afraid of a fight or a challenge, on a mental level. They have a visionary intelligence that is sometimes on the idealistic side.

New projects and ideas are taken on with an unmatched enthusiasm with this position of Mercury. However, because there is no shortage of new ideas in life, Mercury in Aries natives can be quick to dump one mental pursuit, way of thinking, or opinion for something fresher and more exciting.

Mercury in Aries people are often excellent at promoting their new ideas. When they're excited about something, their style of communication can be so motivating and fun, the enthusiasm is downright infectious. Aries is a leader, quick to adopt absolutely new and innovative methods--they get a rise out of leading too!

If the Sun Sign is in Pisces or Taurus, these people can sometimes wonder why others get frustrated with them. The truth is, they may come across as more brusque and impatient than they actually are. Mercury in Aries natives make quick decisions, and they don't always understand it when others hedge issues or stay "on the fence".

Feel free to add any comments about this placement. Thanks

Then why post something off-topic in this thread?

I was going to post charts in your thread last week, and put it back on topic, but it was closed. Or was that the week before?

Well, this is off to a good start.

Kate Hudson just had a book published, called "Pretty Happy", and someone posted on twitter that she's the happiest person she knows.

I love Jennifer Garner - I think she's grounded, and mature, but also seems to be a lot of fun. http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2016/02/jennifer-garner-talks-kids-career-ben-aff leck

quote:
One thing is for sure: she refuses to claim responsibility for the midlife-crisis tattoo—the rising phoenix—that takes up her estranged husband’s entire back, as seen in photographs. “You know what we would say in my hometown about that? ‘Bless his heart.’ A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario?” Garner says with a wink.

“I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes.”

I was just re-reading an article I posted earlier, in the eclipse thread by waxlobster, and I was thinking about how rarely I cut contact with someone. I don't erase people from my facebook list, because I disagree with them, or they're going through a hard time. I've kept Trump supporters, even though I loathe the man himself, and don't know what they see in him. I think, for the most part, I'm pretty accepting of others.

I have Mercury in Aries, in the 6th house, conjunct my Ceres, Chiron, and Sun (3-5 degrees away). It's also square Saturn, and trine the MC.

No matter how grouchy I've been lately, I'm usually really concerned with people's feelings. I've started to really lose patience with those who don't care about mine, though. People deliberately trying to agitate me or others - especially if they're already wound up.

I've just watched the Adam Levine video. Never got into Candy Crush, but Bubble Mania owns me.

Victoria Beckham: Can't relate to her, and can't believe she ate from a can, and then used the spoon on the fruit in the pie. Ugh!

I used to have the biggest crush on Robert Downey Jr. I love that he asked people not to bring cell phones to his party. My phone has been broken, and I haven't missed it that much.

Yes, I have trouble keeping quiet, when I'm excited about something. I feel like Charlotte La Bouff, in The Princess and the Frog. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aqn4C8utJyw

I'm a tad less excitable, but I love her.

I was never a big fan of Mercury in Aries. They seem too childlike in their thinking process and communications. Of course my answer is only based on my experiences, but this is just what I've noticed. It's either they blurt out a lot at one time lr nothing at all. It's never a steady flow.

That is so cute! I was wondering how you are in person when I made this thread. I enjoyed all those clips, there is definitely a pattern with them.

Thanks! I had started this project two years ago but procrastinated up until now.

I have an astrologer friend who can identify energy extremely well, guessing specific chart placements...always wanted to be able to do that! This is step one.

Interesting...I have seen that with some Aries Mercury people I know "in real life"...sometimes they don't talk at all. Even when everyone else is talking and it would be normal to talk.

I was surprised at how much Marlon Brando talked in the interview I linked to above. I thought he was a quieter person.

Cool thread..

They're more ready to admit they're wrong than they get credit for..! They can be brash, but they'll be as sincere in their retraction as in their attack.
And sneakiness is something you never have to worry about with an Aries mercury.

Faith- true, I can be extremely quiet. It freaks people out, Dead Silent, in fact.
Elysia- I am sincere in that I hate insincere and empty words; in which case yeah, I don't need to be sneaky because I already feel the foul play and don't see the need to get people to come true- their thing, not mine. I also don't really like to say things that I don't mean. Lol.

Aries Mercury square Mars, Uranus and Neptune.
Trine Saturn.
Conjunct Venus.

P.S. - I personally have never been accused of speaking like a child, even when I was one.
But, then again: Fassbender is gorgeous!!!!!!!

Faith,

Wanted to give you some feedback on Mercury Aries but wanted to discuss with you on those that have this but Retrograde.

I dont have mercury in Aries myself. But i do have a close friend of mine that i love but also am frustrated with at the moment. I have not liked her very much lately and have become disapointed. Me and her have a lot of things in common but we are also opposites of extreme on how we go about things....

Her Ascendant is 16 Degrees Gemini in the Decan of Libra in the Duad of Sag. That being her Chart Ruler is Mercury in Aries at 0 degrees Retrograde in the 11th house Conjunct her Moon in Aries in the 11th house which also Squares her NorthNode in the 7th house Quincunx's her Jupiter Retrograde in the 4th house. Sun conjunct moon in aries in the 11th house.

She is an illustrator herself and graduated with an Illustriation degree and teaches Art to children and also does workshops.

Over the past 8 years of our friendship, I have found her to be very INDIRECT with her communications, she is not a typical aries, she is NOT agressive and doesnt really like confrontation herself, she very much wants to be at peace with everyone and i mean EVERYONE......she is a sweet talker is what she is. If she wants something she will give her puppy face and sweet talk as much as she can out of a situation and she has been raised this way by both her mom and dad. She is also very popular and everyone enjoys her company because she is sweet, naive, and wants to please everyone and HATES rejection. She is also very messy is not really organized that much but when she wants to be she is excellent and gets the job done. But for the most part i see her as someone who is passive agressive, a manipulator, and is not really honest and direct with people. In the End, She just doesnt want to hurt anybody and she also has a short attention span and she has admitted this herself that she tends to daydream and is very scattered with her art. She also tends to worry about what others will think of her, she thinks before she speaks she does but she is not quick about it she takes her time she is not anywhere near an aries she is not a verbal agressive type at all she is very PASSIVE and this is something me and her get into conflict because i am quite the opposite. Something that has always irrated me of her.

For Example, she told me "you should've never told him you had feelings for him you didnt even hang out with yet and you told him that that's why you scared him away" i said "i dont care, that is who i am, and if he doesnt appreciate my honesty and willing to confess that to him after us knowing each other for about a year then that's his problem not mine whether or not we didnt hang out alone or we did, it doesnt matter to me, i did what i felt was right and im not regretful for any of it because i dont need him or anyone to approve me" she says "yeah you know what your right, god i'd never have the bravery to confess my feelings to anyone so scary!"....

Thank you and I see what you mean.

Watching those videos made me happy ~ my Aqua Mercury likes this Mercury a lot.

@HadesFish

Speaking of Fassbender, his Mercury is near the Taurus Cusp and his way of speaking is more grounded than the others'....while the Pisces Cusp Aries Mercury seems less grounded, more open-ended and "spacey."

Thanks for this!

I work with another Aries who is quiet like me too. She's soft spoken but straight forward and casual. So cool to hear that other MiA don't talk, I do that! Wanna know why? Because as a triple Aries incl. MiA I often don't care about small talk or passing chit chat. Gotta focus! Gotta get my stuff done and I'm more interested in my own thoughts compared to people I have no attachment to!

Interesting! I've always felt that Fassbender seems like he needs to control his whole demeanor, not just his words. I've never looked him up.. Michelle P. has appeared spaced out in the way she communicates.

I am also Mercury R, as well as it being in 0".

Again the Pisces "flavoring" is so apparent here.

what do you mean? could you elaborate on that? im curious! well she is a venus and mars in pisces; her mars conjunct her MC in pisces. She's also got sun square neptune/uranus.

but she does also have venus conjunct moon and mercury conjunct moon, so this also tells me that she wins people with charm. I dont know she is a very soft sweet girl, i can never see her insuilt anyone, but she is quite sneaky and she is not always 100% honest with her words because she just wants to win people after knowing her for so long.

She also has her chart ruler Mercury R Trine Chiron R in the 3rd house.

I agree about Fassbender

By spacey I didn't mean "out of it"...hard to describe but it's like they are always listening to their inner voice or imagination.

Kourtney K seems to me like she is mentally buffering whatever the other person says, like sugar coating it before she internalizes it? I get that impression from her slight fixed smile and her pauses.

Is your demeanor anything like hers? Pardon me if that's a crazy question.

Aries Mercury is usually more direct than how you described her. Pisces Mercury would be indirect, maybe secretive, and mindful of others' feelings. Her Mercury so close to Pisces, it behaves somewhat like a Pisces Mercury, as you described it.

that makes sense now her chiron trine her mercury says a lot to me....no wonder why she does not like confrontations and is not able to fully be direct with people.

gottcha ! she is also very healing as well with her communications almost like a cancer feel to her possibly it could be her chiron in the 3rd house forming a trine to her mercury.

I know what you meant by spacey, fellow Pisces Moon, no need to further explain for me.

I'm not into the Kardasian clan, and can't say that I've been connected to any of them, lol, but I have glanced here and there and she- if taking their environment into consideration, seems somewhat grounded in comparison to some.

Not a crazy question at all. Hhhmm, I guess I have to say that I speak more with my eyes- they are fixed always. But I do smirk when I smile. My overall deamenor tends to be "serious". I've actually only been guessed to be a Pisces... Once, while on Travels, by a Cancer... Lol. My friends may see those traits more, although. I don't really miss anything, or try not to, so I do internalize in that sense!

Michelle P. by spacey I meant that she actually gets her point across very well, but it's missed if you are not looking for it or don't care. It's like a whisper. Like her as well.

Interesting...yeah she's very airy/ethereal in some ways. It's like her Taurus sun is this solid block, and she makes it levitate a bit. Her sun in the 12H, with Mars/Venus in Pisces, and Jupiter and Neptune conjunct her NN in Scorpio: http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Michelle_Pfeiffer

11H Aries Mercury trine Sag Saturn...bluntness with confidence and a sense of fun.

Aww thank you, Faith! I like almost everyone on that list (well, not Hitler, obviously). I'm one of the quiet, soft spoken ones, even though it's conjunct Sun and Mars. Even though I'm direct, you can always tell my Mercury is in the Capricorn duad (reserved, polite etc). I think it influences things quite a bit. I always love other Aries Mercuries, love the good humour and prankish styles.

@Angel, my ex had Mercury Rx in early Aries and he was similar to your friend. I thought it was because his Asc was in Libra that he was so.. err.. diplomatic, but it might well have been his Mercury Rx.
