Hey guys. So I've been looking into my Natal chart and have unlocked the secret to all my problems - Mars opposite Saturn. (1.7 degrees)

It's something I've struggled with all my life. Always always setting such high expectations for myself and having a deep fear of failure. I can be quite self destructing if I don't achieve my standards, with a lot of upset or aggression. It's always affected my school life - for example, spending 10 minutes per sentence on an English essay because I stress until I get it right - and anger myself if I don't.

I think this aspect poses a very large challenge to me. Is there any way I can try and combat it? Any lessons that need to be learnt?

Thank you in advance

Lol, Saturn isn't as scarey as you think. The short answer to your question is to just embrace the lessons that Saturn is trying to teach you - self control, perseverance, quality work, stamina, selfless service/leadership and (most importantly) recognizing that all of these lessons will be learned and incorporated in time. (i.e. It's not going to happen now. It's going to take years).

My 7H Mars opposite my 1H Saturn is part of an exact T-Square with my Moon. Life has never been easy and I don't expect it will ever really let up for me in certain respects, but as I am entering my Saturn return I find I don't regret the struggles at all. The things I am able to accomplish because of this T-Square have put me in a really comfortable position financially, career-wise and in relationships (friendships, family, and romantic believe it or not). Saturn is balancing the will here (Mars) so though you will feel as though things are not happening the way you set out to accomplish them, in the end, if you learn to trust that the road blocks you may encounter are designed to allow you the time you need to get it right...you will feel more in control because you will be able to use time wisely. You also need to remember to be kinder to yourself with this aspect. Saturn is here to balance the will, not crush it though sometimes its restriction can feel like a huge blow to our confidence and self-worth.

The thing to remember with Saturn aspects is that, though your successes are not easily won, they are also not easily lost once you get there. Saturn is the planet of reaping what you sow - take the time to sow quality seeds, nurture them and work at caring for them the right way and you will have a bountiful harvest as well as the wisdom to repeat the formula for next year. You'll be fine. Saturn is a good planet to have in your corner even though it gets a bad rap.

Well, I have this aspect myself, 2-8H, I feel that I have to learn themes of 2 and 8 Houses, to find a balance between them.
I think, you should consider not only this single aspect, but a picture in your natal in general. For example, what other aspects these planets have?

I'm not certain that one aspect is the secret to all your problems.

My little sis has Mars opposite Saturn.

It can be a greatly sensitive and volatile placement.

Someone who probably doesn't like being told what to do; viewing that as criticism or being told that they are "wrong" etc.

Also, there could be issues with self-assertion or at-least feeling like obstacles are against you when you do.

When taken to the extremes ,it could indicate someone who has a "why bother? it will not work out for me anyways?"

Mars opposite Saturn suggests that the action you take(Mars)will often result in outcomes being long in coming(Saturn).

Often you scatter your energy everywhere and have many plans that you fail to consolidate successfully.

Not having a clear goal to hone in on is likely. Or at-least being bored easily with the one that you have can also happen.

You may reach too far or expect too much too soon; believing that the more "effort" you put, the better the results.

But as you will notice, that doesn't seem to work.So there is a big possibility of being easily discouraged or feel that there are external forces working "against" you to make your life harder.

As Mars is drive/initiative.The interference of Saturn can definitely make one feel that they are not supported by the universe at large.

What these people need to get in sync with is timing i.e they may push when it would be wiser to wait. Jump when it may be wiser to walk or execute, when it might be wiser to review the plans.

With your Mars in 1st, you are often inspired to act. And with Saturn in 7th, there is a tendency to feel very much alone and unsupported when you do.

My advice would be to develop and complete the small goals and steadily move on to bigger ones- as this will increase your confidence and soothe the inner resistance that you project on others(7th house Saturn).

So make small goals to complete and then move slowly to bigger ones.

The nice thing about this aspect is that you can get a lot done. But the key is timing.

So if your plan is say for instance to lose weight.Give yourself a year to lose a small amount of weight i.e under-promise and then over-perform.

As the end of the year nears and you discover that you have lost more weight than was your initial goal, you will feel the inner resistance ease up and even hear yourself saying "I can do more".

But be careful of aiming too high and then failing to reach that goal.Or being discouraged that you didn't attain your reach. As Saturn can also make you feel painfully guilty and self-mutilate.

So the key here is to get started on balancing your goals and expectations.

Use your feelings as guidance and contemplate on your plans for a while until you are so resolved on acting, that even an ocean full of sharks cannot get in your way.

Do something physical-no matter how small. And get into it. The resistance is more internal than external- I promise you this

You are only projecting the difficulty or "obstacles" on to others. So when you move to action, you will see this. As all those "insurmountable" odds will vanish and you will feel braver.

Its an excellent aspect really.Hone it and use it- you are blessed with it

Thanks for your response and sorry it took me so long to get to it!

Yeah you are very spot on. I do seem to scatter my energy and get bored very easily (also my Gemini moon) and goal setting can sometimes be a struggle for me.

I think you're right. I should try setting smaller goals so I can overachieve rather set myself up for under performance.. Then maybe I won't put myself under so much strain.
