Dane Rudhyar says:

quote:
If we take a chart like that of Premier Nehru of India — born November 14, 1889, at about 11:00 P.M. — we find the Moon at 10° Leo coming to a square to the Sun at 22 1/2° Scorpio. This birth, thus, occurred a little before the Last Quarter phase of the lunation cycle, as the Moon will make an exact square to the Sun at about 23 1/2° Scorpio. Some eight days after Nehru's birth, the Moon reached the Sun close to 1° Sagittarius; and a new lunation cycle began. During these eight days, however — which, by "progression," correspond to eight years — the Moon crossed Saturn, at 3° Virgo, then Mars, Uranus and Venus in Libra, Mercury in early Scorpio. The power and meaning of these conjunctions made by the Moon were strongly impressed upon the first eight years of development of Nehru's personality. Such early imprints are always very basic.

It can be shown in a multitude of cases that the first planet which the Moon crosses after birth identifies one of the most basic characteristics of a person's individuality and destiny. This planet colors, as it were, the manner in which an individual orients himself most naturally at first to the reception of life energies; thus, the nature of the planet indicates what the native will draw upon in order to feed his individuality and (as a result) in order to assert himself in the fulfillment of his destiny.

In Nehru's birth-chart, Saturn is therefore the indicated focus; it characterizes the line of intake of solar-planetary energy and the type of strength and function he will (and should) normally seek in the exercise of his "life role." We have the same situation in the chart of Khrushchev, for there the Moon at 24 1/2° Virgo makes its first conjunction with Saturn at 21 1/2° Libra — before reaching a Full Moon opposition with the Sun at 29° 59' Libra, two and one-half days after birth. Mao Tse-tung's chart (granted the date is correct) presents the same picture.

Bold mine

http://www.khaldea.com/rudhyar/astroarticles/planetsb4afternatalmoon.php

In my case, the moon was first conjunct Jupiter, about two and a half days after I was born. Therefore I had a moon-Jupiter conjunction in progression when I was 2 and a half, and this was supposedly a character-setting experience.

Not much information at the link except:

quote:
Coming back to a Moon's first contact with Jupiter, we find this in the birth-chart of Martin Luther and Mohammed (as given by the French Astrologer of the Classical Era, de Boulainvillier). Here the astrological condition can be seen to refer to the religious destinies of these great reformers (Islam developed at first as a reform movement at the fringe of a Christendom torn by conflicts).

Well it's interesting because I was just saying last night, I can remember being very young, standing in church, and consciously rejecting the religion I was born into. As I got older I rejected it more openly and argumentatively (Jupiter in Aries.)

It does seem that religious and spiritual concerns are a defining point of my life.

Anyway --

1) Which is the first planet the moon formed a conjunction with, after you were born?

2) If you've read the link I posted, do you resonate with anything said there?

The readings are a bit haphazard and meager, sorry, but I can't find better information.

If you haven't read it, just wondering if you have any observations, relative to this theory.

For me, it's Pluto. I haven't read the description (yet), but I suppose that would make sense.

Fascinating, my moon conjuncts the IC, squares my nodes, is a singleton planet by quadrant and the handle of a bucket pattern in my chart so its far away from the rest of my planets and the first planet it would conjunct would be my Venus conjunct Mars, Venus first. Now the first asteroid would be Pholus...

Early in my development I knew I wanted to experience a super strong passionate love like it has never been seen before lol but it matches what you are introducing here bc my moon is in Pisces conjunct IC ruling the 8th in the decan and duad of pluto, is part of a golden yod with pluto and Chiron and is the handle of a bucket pattern in my chart and a singleton planet by quadrant that squares my nodes and the first planets it conjuncts in my early development by progression is my Venus conjunct Mars; no wonder I craved an out of this world passionate intense love so early in my development, it felt like my purpose in life.

I wonder, does it need to be a planet or can it be an angle?

Thanks for your replies

Rudhyar only mentions planets.

He describes some of these conjunctions better than others. For Uranus and Mars, he gives interesting examples:

quote:
In many notable personalities, we find the Moon making its first contact with Uranus. As examples, one can give President Kennedy and statesmen like Napoleon, and the apostle of a perpetual revolution, Leon Trotsky. Also, we could add challenging creative personalities such as poets Dante and Byron, writer George Bernard Shaw and, in the field of vast enterprises, steel magnate Andrew Carnegie.

---

The Moon is coming to Mars after birth in the charts of the statesmen of violent action, Bismarck and Mussolini — and less expectably in the chart of Albert Einstein, who was a lover of peace, yet whose famous mathematical formula started the trend of experiments which led to the atom bomb and whose name was used to induce President Roosevelt to initiate the bomb project In President Wilson's chart, the Moon is coming to a conjunction of Venus and, almost at once afterward, of Mars. The diplomat-king and lover of "good things," Edward VII, had at birth the Moon applying to Venus in Libra and the ninth house; but Edward VIII, who surrendered the throne for his love, and George IV, who ruled during the last World War, had their Moons applying to Mars.

Hmm, would have thought Edward VIII have moon applying to Venus? Maybe the answer is in his synastry with his wife, Wallace Simpson, let me check...

Oh wow her birthday is today, June 19th.

They both have Mars in Aries, though not conjunct.

In case you have your moon, then a planet, then the sun, in zodiacal order, that's a special case:

quote:
When a planet is, as in such a case, sandwiched between the Moon and Sun, it acquires a very important meaning; all that it represents focuses, as it were, the relationship of the individual to his time or his environment.
This focusing resembles somewhat the focusing of vital energies in a vegetable seed falling into the soil, where eventually it may become a source of new life.
A notable example of such focusing is that of the German philosopher Kant, whose legacy of thought had considerable influence. In this chart, it is Mercury (21° Aries) which is sandwiched between the Moon (13 1/2° Aries) and Sun (2° Taurus). The same situation exists in George Washington's birth-chart, with the Moon in Capricorn, Mercury in Aquarius, the Sun in Pisces. Washington's mental attitude toward problems of the new nation he helped so much to found had a lasting influence —particularly in the field of foreign affairs (natal Moon in ninth house).

I was born with it conjunct Venus - Venus is slightly after the Moon, and before the South Node. So would it just be Venus?

I think the next thing on would be Saturn in Cancer, around 12*Cancer.

Mars, about 3 days after I was born.

Heh violence coloured my childhood. An important part of my life is learning to control my aggression and response to physical provocations.

^

And I think the upside of moon first conjuncting Mars is, you learn to fight for what you actually want? Mars is tuned into the moon...so it's more willing to take action, to manifest the moon's desires.

On that moon conjunct Mars list there are some revolutionaries and eccentrics, people doing their own thing. Like Tori Amos, there is no other singer like her. No other politician like Bernie Sanders...no other voice like Christopher Walken...etc.

Interesting info, Faith!

quote:
"In the case of Abdul-Baha, the son and devotee of his father, the great Persian Prophet who claimed the status of "divine manifestation" and led the Bahai cause, now (a century later) spreading through all continents, the sixth-house Leo Moon made its first contact with the opposing Saturn (later, Neptune) in Aquarius — a very strong indication, as there are, thus, no planets in half of the chart."

^ Does that mean oppositions are counted too (or is that a stretch)?

'Coz I too don't have planets in half my chart. (Where's my *other half*? #LibraWhining *sniff* )

Anyway, -- if we're not counting points, then the first planet it was conjunct was Venus.

So far, I thought I was comfortable with my Venusian energy 'coz it's the only personal planet not squared by one of the outer big bad boys. Now I have another reason.

ETA: If Chiron counts, then mine too, Chiron before Venus. :/

Within the first 8 days (in the order that it occurs):

Chiron, Jupiter, Venus, Mercury

I was sick as a baby, as a young child, then I was okay before chronic illness entered my life again (both for me, my family and my profession). Health and healing have always been major themes in my life, whether or not I want them to be.

My feelings regarding religion are much the same as yours. Family members (not my parents) used to make me dress up and attend church every week. I have Pluto in 9th though, so it's difficult for me to view organized religion in a good light.

Venus and Mercury makes sense as well (Moon crosses both on the 8th day). That was around the age that my parents started encouraging me to express myself through art and music.

No quoting please.

I was going to say Venus, but then this person above ^ mentioned Chiron... and uh, yeah. Chiron. ~_~

But then it's Venus!

quote:
The diplomat-king and lover of "good things," Edward VII, had at birth the Moon applying to Venus in Libra

Yeah, but I mean... it's in Libra. We're natural-born diplomats and lovers of "good things"! Ahah.

Doux Reve! .... Mine was Neptune Libra!, 'natural-born spiritual diplomat and lover of good things'... like Astrology! (My Urania-Ambrosia conjuncts Neptune towards end of H10.)

Faith {{ }} ... You have Chiron there too. I respect you, and what you've been through, so much.

Thanks so much for your replies!

@Elysia:

quote:
Does that mean oppositions are counted too (or is that a stretch)?

Yes, oppositions count...if the first planet the moon conjuncts is opposing the moon.

quote:
'Coz I too don't have planets in half my chart. (Where's my *other half*? #LibraWhining *sniff*)

That's actually pretty nice to imagine ~ so romantic if you do find the other half!

Also, I never thought of looking at Chiron, so thanks for bringing that up. If I revisit this topic I might edit that list above, to include Chiron.

@Sikanda

Glad it's straightforward for you ~ thanks for answering!

@SV

I love that idea of checking each first moon conjunction in our progressed charts, and comparing it to what happened around that age.

I'll be researching that more soon.

@Doux,

Thanks for keeping it real. I agree, Edward VII is not the clearest example he could have picked.

Now that y'all are mentioning it, I think Chiron should count.

@mirage,

Thanks <3

My husband also has Neptune as the first conjunction. I like to imagine him as Neptunian for once, because he comes across so non-Neptunian.

It's interesting that several of us have Chiron first. It makes me want to research Chiron more, since I know very little about it…other than it's supposedly "the wounded healer".

My Moon is going to conjunct Uranus about 3 degrees in 3rd house. Even they are in Scorpio, but I feel myself more like Gemini or/and Uranus.

Faith,

interesting.

For me it is also Jupiter. Moon first conjuncted Jupiter after birth (24°) (unless we count BML which is closer to Moon).

Also excluding asteroids I do have a planet sandwiched between Sun and Moon, and that is Venus, though not on the midpoint.

my pMoon was conjunct nJupiter about 2 years after I was born, and 2 weeks before the birth of my middle brother.

pvenus was conjunct nMoon on 22nd august 2007, and curiously enough was still within exact orb when I met Mr Sag a year later (just by then pVertex had also moved into the exact conjunction).
