Just curious about the experiences of others with this aspect in their birth chart as I have the trine. Not sure how many of you are out there but let's give it a try!1. What is the aspect, signs and houses included? 2. How random and offbeat are your thought processes? Do you ever find it hard to mentally slow down and to also slow down your speech/communication? 3. What were your experiences in grade school like? Did you rebel, feel out of place? Were you very smart just misunderstood? 4. Do you find yourself feeling quicker intellectually than most people, to the point where you just feel like they don't "get it"? 5. How weird, provocative, or random is your sense of humor? Do people say you're quick witted? 6. Is it difficult for people to change your opinions and ideas, once your mind is made up? ------------------ Check out My Astrology Blog: http://astroarena12.blogspot.com IP: Logged |

To answer it myself...1. Uranus in the 12th in Capricorn trine Mercury in Virgo in the 8th. 2. My mind does move at a very fast pace and I do sometimes get lost in my own odd train of thought. It's like my thoughts come from what I haven't even totally thought out yet but it all makes perfect sense in my head. Odd but true. I can communicate like this at certain times. I think the secretive tendencies of Uranus in the 12th makes me speak based on what I already know but others may or may not get. And yes I do speak very quickly and have had to work on slowing down my speech some. 3. Grade school was alright for me til about the 6th grade. I loved the creativity that the years before allowed. But the older I got, the more rigid the learning was and that annoyed me. I was a misunderstood pupil though. As a kid, I got all A's and was reading on a high school senior level by 5th grade. But I was always in trouble for disrupting class by either talking or being highly distracted. Once I hit puberty, I cared less and less about school. Grades were all over the place, on the verge of failing on a few occasions. But I was super-focused when it came to creative stuff outside of the classroom. Then I showed my genius. 4. I do feel this way and not out of arrogance. Most people tend to just think inside the box and repeat what people tell them to think, on some level or another. Many people are not used to thinking freely or putting much effort into their thinking. It is just sort of robotic conditioning and I never fall for that which allows me to come up with new ideas or things to say very quickly, in ways that are not so quickly understood. 5. My sense of humor can be quite off the wall. Sometimes the funny things I say surprise or shock people. Also I am sometimes surprised that the things I say are funny because they just fly out of my mouth. I make a lot of random observations and I do like having someone to riff with who can keep up. I can go off on long tangents when I joke. 6. Yes it is. I am very independent minded. Although I am open and tolerant, I refuse to be influenced by others' ideas. If what they're saying is something I find logical and if I feel like they're right, I concede. Otherwise, I am totally stubborn, even if I let them think otherwise (again the indirect 12th house influence). ------------------ Check out My Astrology Blog: http://astroarena12.blogspot.com

1. What is the aspect, signs and houses included?Mercury in Aquarius in the 3rd widely conjunct Uranus in the 4th, both conjunct the IC. 2. How random and offbeat are your thought processes? Do you ever find it hard to mentally slow down and to also slow down your speech/communication? My thought processes are like a lightning storm. I'm always the first to suddenly start thinking of all the possible solutions to a problem. I talk very fast quite often and am onto hundreds of different things at once because my mind is super spastic and as fast as lightning. Mentally slowing down is very difficult at times. 3. What were your experiences in grade school like? Did you rebel, feel out of place? Were you very smart just misunderstood? I am not a fan of grade school; the classes and such are quite boring and the people there don't seem to make it any better. I feel out of place all the time as if no one truly gets me, and while I am quite smart, I'm not interested in school like the typical stereotype would be (a.k.a. cliche bookworm always interested in doing her homework on time and etc). I often don't need as much studying as other people do for school, in fact I usually never study and manage to get really good grades. However, I need to work along because I will get very distracted super easily and will often lose track of what I'm doing. 4. Do you find yourself feeling quicker intellectually than most people, to the point where you just feel like they don't "get it"? I am usually more mentally quick than most people, but often I don't see it conflicting with others. Often people will misunderstand a statement I'm making and attach all of these emotional constructs to it when I think on a logical basis without tons of emotion, usually differing from their ways of thinking. 5. How weird, provocative, or random is your sense of humor? Do people say you're quick witted? I am extremely quick witted and I take pride in being quick witted. Along with that I'm so random that people are just bewildered by my fast moving mind, ready to move onto the next thing in mind. Often it is quite weird too with people going, "OH MY GOD LIKE WTF." I wouldn't necessarily say provocative though. That may be due to my Mars-Asc conjunction. 6. Is it difficult for people to change your opinions and ideas, once your mind is made up? I can be very stubborn about certain ideas, but at least I'll consider what they're saying and trying to weigh out the options before coming to a conclusion. While I can be stubborn, I'm not so stubborn as to immediate ignore anything they would say, but there are times when I just won't tolerate anything they have to say and immediately shut down my mental receptiveness. I have the conjunction, it's wide though so I don't often think about it. Sag merc conj cap uranus in the 12th house.2. How random and offbeat are your thought processes? Do you ever find it hard to mentally slow down and to also slow down your speech/communication? Oh, I can't slow down. I gave up trying a while ago. Yeah, it's pretty random. It makes my life more colourful. But it frustrates certain people. 3. What were your experiences in grade school like? Did you rebel, feel out of place? Were you very smart just misunderstood? I did sort of feel out of place. It got better when I moved overseas, but still, I still felt sort of unsatisfied. I mean, you know the moment when you asked the teacher if you could solve the problem in a different way and excitedly shared your thoughts and the teacher looked at you like you've grown another head. What a buzzkill. Meh, I dealt with formal education well, even if I felt unsatisfied. I often find myself at odds with the "If it's not broken, don't fix it" kind of mentality. It's not that I don't understand, it's just that I like to experiment a little, have some fun, do things differently. If it works, great. If it doesn't, that's fine we'll go back to the tried-and-true method. But often, I'm just seen as the time waster. I don't go "OMG no one gets me", but yeah the outright refusal to even consider my proposals can bring me down a little. 4. Do you find yourself feeling quicker intellectually than most people, to the point where you just feel like they don't "get it"? LOL what if they feel that I'm the one who doesn't "get it" hah. 5. How weird, provocative, or random is your sense of humor? Do people say you're quick witted?
Very random but not that provocative. I tone it down when I'm around other people. To me, humor is something to be shared, I don't like to offend others with my sense of humor. Meh, when I do decide to share my thoughts, people either appreciate them or don't like them at all. I get the "sharp mind/sharp tongue" comments often. 6. Is it difficult for people to change your opinions and ideas, once your mind is made up? While I'm not easily swayed by others, I'm not stubborn either. If someone has s.t good they wanna share, lay it on me. A part of me has strong convictions about a few certain things - they are tied with my core values (sun conjunct mercury). It's personal and I suppose that's why it's next to impossible for others to change my mind. Other than those things, everything else is only "temporary". As I progress through life and let it (and its inhabitants) bend and twist me, my ideas and opinions change. Hah like a soft blob with a hard core. p/s: I like your blog and your writing style. It flows very nicely. IP: Logged |

1. What is the aspect, signs and houses included? Aquarius (early) Mercury conjunct Uranus (late Capricorn). House 4. 2. How random and offbeat are your thought processes? Do you ever find it hard to mentally slow down and to also slow down your speech/communication? They can be random and off-beat, I have ADD and PTSD with anxiety and panic attacks so I do find it difficult to slow myself down. I often talk fast and I hate slowing communication down, I feel like that person isn't listening to me if I have to do that. 3. What were your experiences in grade school like? Did you rebel, feel out of place? Were you very smart just misunderstood? I had a rough grade school, I moved schools, from a school I loved and it loved me, to a school that was new and no one really liked me. I was always a tomboy and rebellious to the stereotypical girl. I was very smart, but I didn't really fit in. 4. Do you find yourself feeling quicker intellectually than most people, to the point where you just feel like they don't "get it"? Definitely. I catch onto concepts (especially math) quickly and I always found myself more advanced than my peers (most anyways). 5. How weird, provocative, or random is your sense of humor? Do people say you're quick witted? People say I'm witty, I have a weird sense of humor, but I love humor in general. 6. Is it difficult for people to change your opinions and ideas, once your mind is made up? Pretty much impossible, that could be from my Cardinal Capness too though ------------------ "Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace." -Dalai Lama IP: Logged |

My square is happening right now, because I can't follow the rules. Today I was thinking of how my UranuMerc square must be something like a tail. A human tail that you know is there but you just can't see. It's just your sneaking suspicion and the fact that everyone is giving you a look that makes you think you might have a harry human tail in the form of UranuMerc square communication. That was really freeing Thank you 1st house Leo Mercury square 4th house Scorpio Uranus or is it the other way around IP: Logged |

1. What is the aspect, signs and houses included?Virgo Mercury Quincunx Aquarius Uranus (0 deg). Mercury in 8th house Uranus in 1st house 2. How random and offbeat are your thought processes? Erratic, and definitely offbeat. It's not like I've ever deliberately tried to think outside the box, more like the box was never there in the first place. Sometimes I don't know how I got from thought A to thought B, or I start at the end and finish at the start Do you ever find it hard to mentally slow down and to also slow down your speech/communication? My speech is slow because my mouth can't keep up with my mind! Yes, insomnia has been a problem in the past. The 8th house merc doesn't help with it either, since when I lock onto a wild idea I don't let it go. 3. What were your experiences in grade school like? Did you rebel, feel out of place? Were you very smart just misunderstood? School was never a happy place. It was so mentally and emotionally repressing.. Was I smart? Well if intellectual ability equates to academic performance, then no, I was not smart. The indoctrination was: 'your self worth is only as good as a letter on a page,' and I refused to believe that. So my focus was just on getting it over and done with, as quickly as possible. As to feeling out of place, I suspect its a given when you're most dominant in Aqua and Uranus. 4. Do you find yourself feeling quicker intellectually than most people, to the point where you just feel like they don't "get it"?
Often. But then there have been moments when I don't quite 'get' what they're saying either. Patience is a virtue, and my ideas are no more valid than theirs'. 5. How weird, provocative, or random is your sense of humor? Do people say you're quick witted? Yep. Weird and silly. People have often said that my humour is....inventive. 6. Is it difficult for people to change your opinions and ideas, once your mind is made up? Nah not really. Mutable moon, mutable mercury. I'm pretty flexible IP: Logged |

Seems it was too much for the server so I'll break it down.1. What is the aspect, signs and houses included? Mercury in 3H stellium (and sun) Libra (Scorpio cusp) with Venus, Saturn, Pluto sextile to Uranus in 5H Sag stellium (many also on the Scorpio cusp) that includes moon, Mars, Neptune (Jupiter in Scorpio). 2. How random and offbeat are your thought processes? Do you ever find it hard to mentally slow down and to also slow down your speech/communication? Very offbeat. Sometimes I feel like an alien xenosociologists in trying to understand people. It takes effort to slow down my thoughts and speech, but it's effort well spent in most cases. 4. Do you find yourself feeling quicker intellectually than most people, to the point where you just feel like they don't "get it"? Sometimes. And it's not that I "feel" it so much as observe it (and even then I might assume they're just tired or preoccupied). 5. How weird, provocative, or random is your sense of humor? Do people say you're quick witted? Quick witted, yes. And my humor can be very weird, provocative, and random. That said, I generally roll my eyes at slapstick and crude UNLESS it's well timed or somehow clever (I'm not offended by slapstick and crude, just unimpressed). I can also enjoy more subtle forms of humor, play on words, etc. IP: Logged |

3. What were your experiences in grade school like? Did you rebel, feel out of place? Were you very smart just misunderstood?Elementary school seems fairly normal for me. There were things of note in my life back then but school was mostly a neutral experience to me, like having breakfast. It just was and I went through the motions without thinking too much about it (though I thought of other things). Indirectly affecting my elementary school years is that local girls in my neighborhood shunned me starting when I was 6 (I suspect their parents had more to do with this than them) so that I got shunted with the boys, and both of these events affected how I socialized in school (I'm choosing to skip a more detailed explanation here). When I was 10 another girl moved near me who was also in an alcoholic home and she was soon shunned as well, but she and I became friends, and later other girls she formed a bond with in school accepted me as well. There are two notable things about my elementary school years of note, one is that I was the only one who managed to get out of watching Old Yeller (when the school tried to make us all see it for a third time). It was unusual for me to get so angry and stubborn back then, but it happened that time (and I was allowed to read quietly in the library while the rest of the school watched the film). The other is that teachers generally loved my fiction stories, and I got high praise for the creativity, characterization, and other features, some seeming to think I was a prodigy. (I'd also write stories, usually dark/scary fairy tales, on my own time which gave me practice. I now know in retrospect that I was trying to work out issues of mine in the stories which contributed to the creativity and richness of them, since the characters were based on people I actually know "through a mirror darkly" in a world of metaphor.) However, my dad told me one time to stop freaking one of my teachers out who I had learned called my mother as she was worried that I was "showing distress" given how macabre and disturbing they could get (the teacher was right, but she was stupid to have called, had my parents been more abusive I'd have surely been punished severely for drawing attention to my home life), and after my (Scorpio) mom (much more disturbing than I could ever be) openly mocked her, the teacher called Dad who also made fun of her. But Dad did tell me he didn't want anymore calls from her (though he made it clear he thought it was my teacher with the problem rather than me, but he wanted her to stop bothering them). And then Pluto began transiting my Sag stellium, and that was FAR WORSE than my Saturn return! It was an amazing time of my life, but it could've easily killed me, and I gained both psychic and physical scars that may last a lifetime from it. As for school (now middle school) my answers usually disturbed them (one teacher did enjoy my questions and interaction, though she often couldn't answer my questions so that I'd research it myself), and one male teacher even called me scary just for my ideas (note, Mars in a stellium with Uranus which by itself can make one shocking and argumentative, and this is augmented by the Pluto transit, and all sextile to my 3H Libra Merc) and a practice began (which lasted for the rest of my time in school) in which I was given special privileges of reading or writing in class as long as I didn't ask questions or participate (I've seen teachers literally cringe when my hand went up ). Interesting enough, when I transferred to another school hundreds of miles away the same practice was quickly instituted, and I bet that's because one of my new teachers called my old school to learn how they managed me! While I violently defended myself from assault and molestation (or even vivid threats of such), I was usually easygoing otherwise, and so for the most part I could shunned and endure wild rumors spread about me, but it was extremely rare for anyone to try to actually intimidate me (even adults could find I wasn't impressed by a glare or authoritative tone). It was my last year in high school (in a special behavior class, placed there as I'd ran away from home and spent 6 months on the streets before coming back, when I was 16) that I got truly rebellious (and my stories, even as a class assignment, were such that I'd eventually get put into in school suspension over them--that I used genuine footnotes only infuriated faculty even more), but by then I'd done some growing up on the streets outside the bubble of school and had other reasons to do so, and to this day I say the adults I didn't respect didn't deserve to be (I did respect others). Oh! My first year in (normal) high school was when I asked if a date was correct in a history book and was mocked when I revealed that a heavy metal song gave a different date. So I found books in both the school and public library that all agreed with the song and disagreed with the book. I got into so much trouble for that (the books belonging to the school library were taken and the librarian there told me not to worry about it). In a multiple choice test later one was on the specific date (obviously added because of what I did as dates were never asked, and these were created by the teacher himself) which included the correct date and the incorrect date given by the textbook (and thus teacher). I chose the correct date and it was the only one marked wrong on the test. But as my second year in (special class) high school came to a close, I ran away from home a second time and never went back. The faculty was probably as happy as I was about that fact. IP: Logged |

6. Is it difficult for people to change your opinions and ideas, once your mind is made up?As a Libra, I enjoy a great many points of view, and can revisit many of my beliefs. It could be hilarious getting me in a room with myself from years before and later as we'd all start debating stuff (though also asking questions). As a general rule, I'm open to having my mind changed, and can sometimes happen surprisingly fast (though as another general rule, if I change my mind fast then I'm likely to change it back pretty soon), but it's usually a slow process. I don't tie up my sense of self-worth or identity in my ideas. I recently saw a TEDtalk that described the difference between the "soldier" and "scout" way of analyzing the world around us and I'm definitely the scout. I'm also known to recommend authors and such of different views, even those I disagree with, as long as I consider the source respectable (and they can believe the opposite as I do with me still finding them respectable, just as I can find those who agree with me but make me cringe with their flimsy reasoning). Sigh, I want to stop now, but I feel obligated to explain "respectable" more. It means clear ideas, not based primarily on unproven assumptions (though speculation is fine in this case) or thinking errors (like circular reasoning), and I believe is at least attempting to be honest. Even if I don't agree with it I can still find it fun to consider. Recently, there was one popular author and speaker I didn't care for (and would've skipped had I not trusted the person who sent me a link to him) that I thought had become brilliant--not convincing, mind you, and I did nitpick a lot of what he said, but he became "respectable" (though many would scoff at that if I said his controversial name). 1. 2. Pretty offbeat. I'm quite slow when I relax, and too fast if I'm uncomfortable in any way 3. Homeschooled, not really concerned with education, daydreamer. 4. No 5. Not quick witted, and I really don't like dirty jokes or crude language. I'm offended by the word @#$%&*$%@%$#&%@%@%$##&%@$#@ 6. Yes

1. Mercury and Uranus conjunct in Aquarius in 5th house. 2. Yes, very hard to slow down thoughts and speech. 3. By grade school do you mean elementary or high school? Well, either way I felt extremely out of place in elementary and now even more in high school. 4. All the time! 5. I like to say stuff that other people wouldn't dare let come out of their mouth. I don't usually find much to interesting enough for it to be humorous, but if I do, it's usually stuff that Max from 2 Broke Girls says. 6. No, not really. Mind changes all the time. IP: Logged |

1. Mercury in Taurus 12th house trine Uranus Cap Rx in 8th house.2. My brain can't stop thinking. It's like it needs mental stimulation constantly so random subjects come to mind unless really focused on something. But it's really hard to focus sometimes because it likes to wander off. Because of that my speech communication is slow and awkward because there's so much going on at once, but for some reason mercury retrogrades helps me focus and acquire better communication. 3. Hated school since childhood. Wanted to do what I wanted. Didn't listen in class and almost failed a grade. Had to be put in special education until I moved. Couldn't comprehend the concept of school and wanted to go off into lala land until I learned that knowledge was important, so I started taking it a bit seriously, but still held back on being intelligent because a lot of the subjects were really boring and I didn't want to meet the expectation of teachers who had my intelligent older sister as their student. And also the fact that my parent always called me stupid, I always believed it and was unsure of myself when it came to school. If I made A's I didn't think nothing of it. 4. Instead of feeling intellectually quicker, I feel way slower. Learning new things are hard unless done at my own time and pace but once I get it, it stays. There are times when I'm just way ahead and get it better than others do (unless they really do get it but they don't want to look smart because being dumb and cool was the thing back in school). Maybe having a Taurus stellium and hardly any air signs is tough on someone intellectually. However, mercury rx speeds up my intellectual capacity two-fold. I just wish the transit comes up at the most needed times. Well, all the time, but that wouldn't be peachy keen for the world. 5. Heh. 6. People can change my mind if their opinions makes sense and meet my values at some point. I hardly meet much that can do that though. My opinions and ideas are really out there.. but it's not that hard to see from another perspective no matter how stupid it is because mine could be stupid too. IP: Logged |

Do you ever find it hard to mentally slow down and to also slow down your speech/communication? My speech is actually slow and not really....clear. I can be a bit awkward when talking and I have my moments where I pause. It's definitely not smooth. Mentally, I'm always thinking of random things and having conversations w/ myself OR daydreaming (Neptune in 1H) 3. What were your experiences in grade school like? Did you rebel, feel out of place? Were you very smart just misunderstood? I was not smart but I was very misunderstood. I was shy and felt like an outcast pretty much my entire childhood. So once I was a teenager I rebelled...a lot 4. Do you find yourself feeling quicker intellectually than most people, to the point where you just feel like they don't "get it"? Not really. I think my Mercury in Capricorn makes me a slow learner and I really have to digest information, but I do have moments where everything I learned hits me and I feel like I suddenly "get it". 5. How weird, provocative, or random is your sense of humor? Do people say you're quick witted? My sense of humor can get out of hand. I'll make a joke of anything and everything, though I try my best to censor myself. I've been told once in awhile that I'm witty but I've been told a lot of times that I'm funny in general. 6. Is it difficult for people to change your opinions and ideas, once your mind is made up? No, but in the beginning I do try to stick by my own opinions, but my beliefs are always changing. Initially, it's hard for me to change my opinion but at the end of the day I welcome change.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I love doing topics like this to see the common thread in everyone's experiences. It seems like the most shared traits for Mercury-Uranus folks are having weird and uncontrollable thought processes, a crazy and quirky sense of humor, and difficulty adjusting to the classroom while growing up (PixieJane, your story really drove that home). The last one particularly interests me as its not so often talked about with this aspect. As children, there is just something about Mercury-Uranus kids that makes us either rebel against the class or curriculum's structure or just think and communicate so differently that our teachers don't know what to do with us. I think kids with this aspect are labeled as "problem children" at some point, due to our clashes with the system, which is part of what gives us such a unique, inventive intelligence. And that sets us up for a lifetime of thinking outside the box. I used to underestimate my brain power as well, like a few of you, because I wasn't given much validation for my unique thinking. But as an adult I see it differently. A certain brilliance comes with having this aspect, in one form or another. ------------------ Check out My Astrology Blog: http://astroarena12.blogspot.com IP: Logged |

I have Mercury conjunct Uranus in Scorpio, on the wide side. In my 11th house2. How random and offbeat are your thought processes? Do you ever find it hard to mentally slow down and to also slow down your speech/communication? Yes, I think non stop and it can be maddening. 3. What were your experiences in grade school like? Did you rebel, feel out of place? Were you very smart just misunderstood? I have always felt out of place. I feel like I was misunderstood, yes. And smart 4. Do you find yourself feeling quicker intellectually than most people, to the point where you just feel like they don't "get it"? Yes 5. How weird, provocative, or random is your sense of humor? Do people say you're quick witted? I am quick witted and have a dry, weird sense of humor 6. Is it difficult for people to change your opinions and ideas, once your mind is made up? Yes IP: Logged |

1. Virgo Mercury 8H trine retrograde Capricorn Uranus 12H. Rather wide orb but I feel it daily. Uranus is sitting on top of my ASC, opposite Jupiter. Mercury conjunct Mars. 2. I can never stop thinking, to the point where it can be hard to sleep. I feel like Uranus is the stronger planet here, because my thoughts and conversation skills consist of shock and awe-type stuff. When I am with comfortable company, the off-beat attitude really comes out. 3. I felt incredibly out of place in grade school. I went to lower end public schools and it was usually the case where I was the only kid who cares about learning, ettiquete and speaking proper English. Other kids didn't like that, so I was target practice (i recall seeing dejanira interact with my moon somewhere) 4. I've given up trying to help my family understand my personality, and over the years the struggle has made me depressed over it. They're much slower, old school and restrictive, but at least my Cappy sister recognizes that I am different. My friends are the opposite--always happy to play word games (read: we say something that can be interpreted as something else, and run with it). 5. I don't usually hear anyone complementing on this part of my personality, so when a friend said I was a 'quickdraw' with my tongue, the realization hit me. I say whatever is on my mind at the moment. Even if it's taboo! 6. I do make decisions quickly and I tend to stick to my guns because I am a stubborn Leo. But, I am always willing to compromise. IP: Logged |

Also it can get awkward when I think of something fast, but my mouth can't keep up. Maybe this aspect leads to speech impairments?IP: Logged |

Sometimes. I'm usually a slow thinker and processor. Occasionally I will have racing thoughts and things like that. Flashes of inspiration. 3. What were your experiences in grade school like? Did you rebel, feel out of place? Were you very smart just misunderstood? I didn't rebel, but I felt out of place and people thought/think I was clever. I'm not really aha 4. Do you find yourself feeling quicker intellectually than most people, to the point where you just feel like they don't "get it"? No :/ 5. How weird, provocative, or random is your sense of humor? Do people say you're quick witted? Nope, not at all. 6. Is it difficult for people to change your opinions and ideas, once your mind is made up? Yes sort of. [/B]

I have Mercury in Capricorn in the 11th house, and it conjuncts Uranus and Neptune. All three of those planets trine my third house moon. In school, I was never really a good student, but I usually made good grades anyway. The odd thing is I was a late bloomer when it came to reading, but I was reading at a college sophomore level by middle school. I'm definitely an out of the box thinker and that has gotten me in trouble quite a bit because I cant shut up (3rd house moon and mars). My sense of humor is very weird and people either love it,hate it, or cant understand it.

I have the conjunction with both Mercury and Uranus in Scorpio house 1. I spend a lot of time in my head but I talk too much at times, too. very scattered?I did not like school at all. I've just started college at 36, maybe because I choose to go it's fun for me. Opinions wise, I'm pretty stubborn. If I respect you I'll actually listen and you might change my mind. IP: Logged | |
