What do you think are chart placements of someone who has a big ego? The only thing I can think of is strong leo energy.. but the person I'm trying to figure out has no leo but lots of scorpio.. Could it be with scorpios that they know how much power they have and take deep pride in it?IP: Logged |

to be honest I have noticed the same things with Scorpios but I think its more a mask than real confidence, but maybe other people will offer you more insight. IP: Logged |

Someone mentioned fixed energy. I never thought of it before but it sure makes perfect sense with my real life experience!

I think the ego and arrogance that goes with strong Aries energy is often overlooked. I've noticed it especially in the males. However I think in either gender this can lessened with Pisces influences. Strong Leo or fixed energy obviously can lead to ego problems. Taurus is another overlooked sign that may have ego problems. Some of them simply can't admit they were wrong. Many of the people I've met with Sun conjunct or opposite Pluto was very controlling and had ego problems. I'm sure some people have this aspect and aren't like that though.IP: Logged |

I think heavy fixed-sign emphasis can come across as egotistic (sometimes accurately)....the fixed signs can be bullheaded.Aries with nothing to temper it. I'm Leo Sun and, even with cardinal water in my chart, I have to work to temper my ego.

I probably confuse people, because my self-esteem is horribly low but I have a massive ego the size of a large blimp in the sky. I've caught myself acting a bit arrogant on occasions where I'm extremely angry about injustice, stupid rules, or just a pet peeve on a bad day.Based on this thread's responses so far I have: Sun in Taurus Mercury in Aries Venus in Taurus Mars in Aries Scorpio Ascendant My opinions are pretty fixed unless it's not a very strong opinion. I keep my arrogance in check and don't treat people badly, but certain people just make me question how I'm part of this species. Still, I know my ego can get the better of me at times so I naturally watch out for that and be sure to express a healthy dose of confidence. Unfortunately, sometimes my attempts at being humble or realistic about my weaknesses look like I'm being down on myself. IP: Logged |

I dont know which one, maybe strong FIXED charts but not only one sign.Anyway I dont think that is healthy at all.I mean the people arould me who has a BIG ego are always frustrated and complaining.I think you NEED to admire your qualities of course but when you say it out loud people see you as an ARROGANT and worst than that they laugh behind your back. That happens all the time but they usually dont know.Tons of people seems to applause them..gives them fuel but when they are on a group away from them all you hear is laughter!!! @Lerena I don't mean to offend anyone and I don't think everyone with these signs and placements is like this. Everyone always says Leo has a big ego and I just think people rarely mention how some Aries influenced males will always have someone on their side no matter how rude or egotistical they were acting (for example Russell Crowe or Alec Baldwin).
As for Taurus, I think Taurus Mars can reflect temper or ego problems, but again this isn't always.IP: Logged |

Depending on who I'm dealing with my Capricorn Ascendant makes me appear a little arrogant and my Aries moon adds a little pushiness to it. I have this work hard and get things done kind of mentality. If people appear not trying to get things moving or the accepted rate of production is just to slow I look arrogant. For example I previously lived in Toronto which is a more dynamic, vibrant and diverse economic city compared to Ottawa where I live now. a lot of people in Ottawa aren't use to that since its economy is 90% dependent on government jobs. I look arrogant when I want to get things moving....while everyone else is not use to that because efficiency kills government jobs and they've grown up with that way of life. But, when ever I visit back in Toronto, I don't seam so arrogant because everything moves at business speed and the people know the importance of efficiency and trying to be competitive. More recently I ordered a package from Florida. its being sent by USPS and taking forever at USPS Opa Locka, florida. Many people have complained about that sorting facility. If I went down here and said guys are so slow. UPS, DHL and Fed Ex which are private companies whould have gotten the shipment sent by now. I whould look arrogant when I just want to get things done. ==================================== Gemini Sun, Capricorn Rising Aries Moon Gemini Mercury Venus Taurus Mars Cancer IP: Logged |

I feel you're describing me, although I don't share a single aspect with you. I think my 2nd house Sun trine MC/Jupiter makes me arrogant and my Leo Mercury makes me think that my opinions are the only ones that count (I'm very stubborn!), sometimes I abuse of the self-reference due to this placement, which I try to keep in place when I realize of that.

Yes, Scorpio types are generally the most fearless -- sign-wise. With confidence comes more ego, but that is not to say ego only reveals itself as arrogance. Generally we seem to give such grandiosity a pass if the person is equally generous or principled. This cannot be entirely reduced to sign placements. Aspects that emphasize fire (Sun, Mars, Jupiter) are those that tend to increase ego, along with A's the better qualities they represent. Lunar / Neptunian emphasis tends to mitigate ego. Ego's height ... objective projection. Total deference ... subjective flexibility. Confidence often rolls out the red carpet for ego, particularly in we squinty intellectuals or experts who too easily veer into know-it-all territory. Away from my area of expertise I would appear to have little ego. A friend of mine who is into Eastern thought, Buddhism, etc, once told me, "You have no ego." Not true, of course. In the last several years I have learned that my ego is structured around I can outlast them ..., a subconscious understanding of the greater sum of my earthly experience as an old soul and the stamina or patience associated with it. This becomes ego when it is used as a basis for comparison to others in which there is some one-upmanship at work. Maybe you could also see Moon in Capricorn in that. Another component of my ego expression comes from I can figure out anything I'm interested in given enough time. Not necessarily a bad attitude to take. It would seem to correlate to Virgo rising's analytic nature (Mercury trine Pluto), Plutonian / fixed sign (Taurus) determination, Saturnine ambition. Again, ego only when it veers into an unbalanced expression that leaves no room for others. I believe there are some souls who need to develop more of what would seem to be ego, and may choose such astrological influences. But that is really well-written, a posture that you are just as worthy as anyone else. Then there are those especially watery sensitive types whose surface bluster never fools me. I prefer to speak past that to the real person inside. You don't always get much Chance to. I got that chance with my grandfather (cancer) before he died. He was perhaps the strongest man I ever knew, yet as he was dying of cancer I got to see the sweetest tender part of him I'd never seen as we sat one evening looking on the garden together. I'd only ever known the crusty quiet man whose steely exterior was only rarely broken with old stories and laughter. That's matters in the end. We're all children on the inside wanting laughter, support and affirmation, products of a wondrous natural world that can floor us into humble awe with its divine grandeur if we'll just take a look together. ------------------ The Declinations Guy Rising Sign Descriptions | Expert rectification ♈ ♉ ♊ ♋ ♌ ♍ ♎ ♏ ♐ ♑ ♒ ♓ IP: Logged |

Leo Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars in 4th house with cancer asc with venus in tight conjunction produces the most emotional egocentric monster ive ever lived to see. Bring my north node into that Leo stellium and you get the worst possible relationship. But thats another story. IP: Logged |

I guess it depends on what you mean by "big ego".It could come down to underlying insecurities within the person resulting in over compensatory behaviours or it could come down to a complete lack of insecurities resulting in impulsive or inconsiderate decision making. Whilst planets in particular signs, such as the fire signs as others have mentioned, may point to some of these sort of behaviours, it also doesn't necessarily so - as some soul's may have aptly mastered Arian or Leonine energy for example, possessing strong confidence and exhuberance in their personalities but not in a way that comes off at all egotistical. I think aspects such as the square could point to egotistical behaviours, when involving personal planets that are "opposing" or polar in nature. Moon and Mars for example. Mars in its fall Cancer could point to insecurities within the masculine nature that are over compensated. Moon in Aries could point to an emotional nature that is immature. But of course, these placements would need to be further verified by other chart factors. IP: Logged |

Mars conjunct ascendent. If comimg from the first house they will be relentless in letting you know how wonderful they are. If coming from the 12th house, they will suffer from an inferioroty complex clashing with a huge ego... They are the ones who let everything simmer under the surface and resent anyone that underestimates them. Leo rising for sure. As a sorpio sun, I'm not sure if I would put us on the list. Over confident - yes but ego not so much. We aren't trying to impress anyone and don't care if we win any popularity contests (unless we have one of the above mentioned ... Then it's ego overload). I have a Leo ASC, as does my mom. I'd say I'm confident, but not arrogant as I don't think I'm better than everyone else (but neither am I worse or less deserving, either). But my Scorpio mom is arrogant (she also has a Leo Mars), though I wonder if her growing up being treated like a bug by too many people cause her to adopt a similar attitude to those around her. And as for ego...I do have a strong sense of self, but I don't see the point of selfies nor spend a lot of time in front of a mirror admiring myself, not even at the gym. Guess it's all in how you define ego in whether I'd say yay or nay on that. As just a note, I don't consider the ego a bad thing, all things in moderation is my rule of thumb, and lack of moderation can turn even virtues into vices while moderation can turn vices into virtues. Selflessness is as self-destructive as selfishness if not checked and kept in balance with each other. It's also possible that my 5H Sag stellium gives me a positive attitude (and thus confidence) as well as focusing on the creative and philosophical rather than say my reflection. I generally find others more interesting than myself, but that doesn't mean I think I'm uninteresting, it's just I don't know them yet and that gets me curious. And I've shown respect to many others who come from different cultures and found plenty interesting and admirable about them, but that doesn't mean I was blind to their faults or that I thought they were better than me, or I than them (perhaps it's the Libra in me, but I like to think of what different cultures could teach each other, and all have their flaws). I also recognize my own flaws (at least some of them), though I try to find the funny side to them, just as I do the flaws of others. I'm confident, but I know there's room for improvement and that things can and do go wrong and that I can make mistakes like everyone else. So I wouldn't say I'm arrogant and self-absorbed, but at the same time I would not call myself humble by any means. And yet I could see this as coming off as arrogant to others when I expect more of them, but that's because I believe in them, that they at least have the potential, and thus find it hard to sympathize with those who chooses to wallow in a ditch they fell in rather than climbing back out (though if they're sincerely trying to get out--not to be confused as looking for someone to enable their dysfunctional behavior--then I'm likely to offer them a hand up, and hope they do the same for me should I ever fall into another ditch myself). Oh yeah, I only use beta readers who criticize my work. They're the ones who helped me improve them. Constructive, of course, not just, "This sucks." Some would just flatter me, but their praise was less golden than those who wouldn't hesitate to point out what they saw as the flaws and I ended up dropping those who merely praised my work. When I won some amateur awards, I thanked my critics who helped me with their constructive criticism as much as myself. In contrast, others would throw fits over any criticism (and, unsurprising to me, they almost never won or even got nominated for anything, at least not for anything good). IP: Logged |
