Saturn aspects in the natal chart, and its transits can set up challenges related to our sense of responsibility, obligations, true capacity, goals, and what we think we need to accomplish.

Below I describe periods of Saturn's major transits to my Asc. Maybe there is something in my experiences here you can relate to. Maybe it triggers realizations, a new look at your previous experiences.

Please share what you experienced and learned from whatever Saturn-related transits you've experienced so they can be encouraged and know all these transitory periods do end and can make us stronger.

I'm currently experiencing Saturn in transit square my Asc (17° Virgo) for the 4th time. First time was age 2, so I don't really have any commentary on that one. Its transit was conjunct my Asc around age 8-9, so not much memory for commentary there either.

During the second transit square my Asc (Dec1986 to Dec 1987) back pain took me to a chiropractor who discovered I had repetitive motion induced Scoliosis (from running long distances on unlevel roads). That forced me to give up running, which I was heavily invested in with big goals. I had been training and racing - but no more. I had pushed my body too far for too long.

That period meant dealing with hard feelings of failure, but not failure as a runner or athlete as I thought. I failed by aims and actions inconsistent with my identity and true capacity. I was trying hard to prove myself, but in straining to be a successful athlete I essentially proved that I did not have the physical constitution to be one.

I found solace in music, learning guitar, and as a singer (which relates roughly to the time Neptune transited conjunct natal Moon, 12° Capricorn). I had already been writing songs. So I just took it a step or two further.

Lessons: know myself; you have nothing to prove; do what comes naturally without straining and set goals accordingly.

Saturn's transit opposite my Asc in 1995 roughly timed a deepening health crisis through/after a job loss, but also my introduction to serious natural medicine from some very helpful Iridology/herb ladies (in April, Jupiter transiting mid-Sag square my Asc). This was a time in which I discovered how much I had failed to support my body through all the demands of excessively long hours of work with too little rest, ending in exhaustion and depression.

Lessons: the body must be materially nurtured and supported with good nutrition, adequate rest, work that suits its limits where it will not be subjected to unreasonable pressures or demands. Care for the body and it will support your efforts.

In August 2001, Saturn had raced rather rapidly around to mid-Gemini, squaring my Asc, while opposite Pluto (mid-Sag) which also squared my Asc. That was a very difficult time in which for months it seemed as if I had no support, no understanding, no home, and few friends. Very difficult. I would not wish that experience on anyone. If you just survive such a thing with dignity you have succeeded.

Luckily, the stress was relieved somewhat for a while by the kindness and friendship of my first girlfriend who accepted me and my life situation as-is. The lessons then were very difficult, very complex, but forced me to find my own footing spiritually/internally while also finding new footing in relation to others -- pretty much everyone in my life. It was hard not to be resentful of loved ones during that period.

Lessons: Sometimes the entire footing of our relationships with others has to change whether we like it or not; asserting our rights or true identities may get a negative, even severe response from others; find the core identity, the core truth inside you and continue on, building grit and strength as you go.

In late 2008 through mid-2009, Saturn transited conjunct my Asc (while Uranus was opposite/contra-parallel it). Upon clear direction of my spiritual guidance and with help from close friends in January 2009 I moved 2200 miles from Texas to Oregon and made my permanent home here that June. Over the previous several years I had done substantial healing and empowerment after hitting the deepest low of my life in 2004. A person can enact far-reaching changes if they make new choices, change old patterns, and allow healing on the energetic level. I had setbacks with loss of home, employment, even lived in the woods for a short time, but things smoothed out.

Lessons: The power of total commitment; Saturn can offer us the chance to entirely clear the deck of old patterns IF we have no outstanding issues with others that can hold us back.

The current square by Saturn to my Asc has been easier. At 46 I take setbacks less personally, and have far more experience in allowing options to reveal themselves in time. It has brought some fatigue, some drawing back; changing expectations/time frames where I may have over-committed a bit; and the need to rework my nutrition/herbal/exercise routines to better support my body.

It has also brought some challenges to my work in this forum. So far I'm looking for where I may have failed in communicating or illustrating my work (Saturn now transits my 3rd house). I had already begun working on more in-depth illustrations of internal chart metrics as it relates to birth chart rectification.

This time Saturn's transit has been accompanied by Jupiter's transit square my Moon, and Pluto moving into trine to my Asc. I have been especially calm and deliberate in almost everything, and have actually enjoyed some renewed affection and understanding with my wife. Have found some rest and renewal in some new music.

Lessons still unfolding. These too shall pass.

Be of good cheer.
Happy Holidays everyone.

Every 7 years transiting Saturn is affecting, by hard aspect, several of my personal planets and angles which are clustered in mutable signs (Venus, ASC and Sun in Virgo; Moon and MC in Gemini).

In my experience, Saturn cycles coincide with major turning point, somehow always related to change in occupation and location and some disappointment in relationships. These are big changes for me, maybe because not only personal planets but also angles and angular houses are involved. I think that especially during hard transits, Saturn reviews what we have done and will let us know if we are on the good track and whether some changes or adjustments are needed.

In 2001-2002 when Saturn was in my 10th house, it almost exactly conjunct my MC and Moon when I was admitted to a university in my home country, and had to move. Studies turned out to be very demanding, I was working hard, feeling lonely and missed my home and social circle (Saturn square Asc and Sun).

In 2007-2008 Saturn was affecting the same planets from 12th/1st houses. When still in the 12th house, it conjunct my Venus, square MC and Moon. I got my diploma, but had problems with a relationship, which soon ended. I started having health issues which seemed serious but turned out to be stress related. It was a very stressful time. But when Saturn started crossing my ASC I was offered a very good and well paid job abroad and moved to another country. Tr Saturn conjunct my Sun in the 1st house consolidated my career and I was very successful.

Since the beginning of 2015 Saturn has square my Venus, opposed MC, opposed Moon, square ASC and square Sun. I am now experiencing the last pass of Saturn square Sun.
I had been going through a very difficult time from 2012-2015 due to Chiron and partly Neptune transits to the same placements so my situation was already very fragile when tr Saturn joined the game. Saturn stripped some illusions that I had but also managed to put some areas of my life back on track. The most important thing is that I moved back to my home country and found a job here which is very fulfilling. I am planning to buy an apartment next year but for now I'm living with my parents, which is limiting in many ways and I have never got along well with my father. Tr Saturn has been affecting my planets from the natal 4th house.

Many people say that Saturn transits are difficult, painful and unfair but I don’t think it’s true. Hard Saturn transits did bring me initially some difficulties and delayed things but in the end it always rewarded my efforts and even brought some success. However, Saturn has always been very tough on me in areas where I had been fooling myself (mostly in relationships).
I think that if one follows Saturn rules it should eventually be fine.

^I agree Saturn rewards and I find it's transits tend to be positive ultimately bc of this.

i have had saturn square AC since last 6 month throught retrograde motion. The square was intense as saturn was stationary when it forms the squares..........

i worked very very hard till to exhaustion and i have had high achievements yet i am stuck now and blocked...fits perfectly the square, especially if i consider that my natal saturn square my MC so the transiting saturn square the ascendant and oppose th MC making a T-square with the natal saturn square to MC...10 of spades to finish the games...

i am tired to be so skilled so smart so wise and i have had so many opportunities to see full moron getting high places with no special grace like i have...this is digusting leaving me frustrated and hateful of those fake people.

the third hit and the last hit of saturn square ascendant occuring right now annhilating the jupiter trine mc transit pluto trine ascendant like a big dark cloud raining on my head, saturn making a square to neptune in pisces and neptune making a square to my natal MC just banish me from society, the last 2 years huge efforts(my father wanted to hospitalized me after my exam bacause i looked like a zombie) collapsing in dust...rewards unrewarded = SATURN SQUARE ASC+opposition to MC.

i am even tired to have a face constantly full of unending tears.

Very interesting Kannon that saturn aspecting your AC in Virgo brings up health issues...

When transit Saturn hit my AC in Scorpio everything I owned including all my money which was a lot at that time was taken from me as well as my car except the airstream and I almost lost my freedom too (pluto was transiting the 2H as well). That day was traumatic and if I would have lost my freedom I was contemplating suicide if that was the outcome. I was forced since I was left with nothing to move back to Miami and live with my parents were I quickly found a job in my field and enrolled back to school to finally finish my masters, I gained at least 15 pounds during that time I think as a result of the trauma I experienced and the stress of working and going to school full time. I saved money while living there and worked on my credit which allowed me to move back to Colorado to try to rebuild in more solid foundations and lost all the weight I gained in Miami once I moved back . First half of saturn in my 1H I gained weight to cope with trauma but towards end of transit I lost it all back as I moved forward with rebuilding my life in more solid foundations. We have been living in an old airstream without a shower or kitchen while we work on it that we left in storage for 2 and a half years here in Colorado since we got back.

Now saturn is entering my 2H and going to conjunct southnode and I am in the process of purchasing a Home but let's see if it all works out.

Saturn is currently in my 12H, exactly conjunct my mercury and in close conjucntion to my ascendant. I feel like it will be more challenging for me early next year, when I move to another country.

2015: Saturn conjunct Ascendant in Scorpio
This one stands out the most, because this is the aspect I was tracking when Neptune opposed my Midheaven. I won't pretend that things were easy, but I learned quickly that Saturn isn't responsible for everything.

When Saturn was in Leo, I had to learn a hard lesson about my father.

Saturn in Libra I learned a lot about relationships.

Saturn in Sagittarius... I don't know really! I haven't had any "themes", but I have been able to see how far I've come. You would think with Saturn in my 7th house I would be committed but it's been a pretty blank period as far as that's concerned. I have come to appreciate being by myself and exploring and enjoying life much more all the while thought. Speaking my own truth too and making sure it's mine.

The one that I've taken notice of is Saturn transiting my 5th house.

I'm presenting myself differently and I'm taking love more seriously. I used to accept love from wherever or whomever would give it to me but I'm now I'm more picky because I have an idea of what I want which is something more serious instead of casual.

I believe Saturn is also teaching me to have more confidence in myself. It's still a work in progress. I started a thread earlier about how I was feeling bummed out because I wasn't liked by the same sex but realized many things thanks to Aries23Degrees.

I have my Sun in the 12th and I've always been uncomfortable with that placement. For most of my life, I've had the mentality that I wasn't important... I was just going with the flow of life and felt really invisible. But this transit of taking responsibility of my identity has been huge. I'm coming to terms that I AM important and I need to love myself instead of looking for others for it.

Saturn has been transiting my Sun in Sagittarius in its on and off retrograde for about 3/4 years now, my life has been completely up and down and i'm having a constant mix of self doubt and ambition of what i want to do with my life.

I'm hoping i will know what to do by the times Saturn has finished in its transit ...

You are 21 and have plenty of time to figure things out and find your way, I have been wanting to say that you. You will be ok and with that placement I predict you will purchase your first home after your first Saturn return so some delays in that area but once you reach this goal it will be a big deal, lasting and a good investment; something that won't be taken from you.

Anyways I am definitely planting that seed.

Learn the importance of patience and persistence of mind for bringing into materiality the ideal you wish for. Understand that the time scale of earthly life is a slow step-by-step process and that you will never get there unless you start now. If you just stay in safe, self-protecting mode you may go through life on the defensive, avoiding the harshest you see, but never contributing something better.

You can and you will - in time.

Great post. Saturn is beginning to square my ASC now, and it it sucks. I definitely feel like this one is aging me, but also forcing me to take care of my body.

My own lessons with Sun conjunct Saturn in Taurus were first patience, but that was a usable ideal for meeting life in a way that was natural to me. Then I had to learn persistence ... later taking the initiative, being proactive.

I also had to un-learn 'make work' (work for work's sake) and materialism.

Saturn conjunct Venus was no fun. Venus rules my 2nd house and the 7th.

It felt like everything contracted and I was fraught with fears of what the future will bring i.e would I ever find a job? Would I ever be alright financially?

The lesson;find a way to feel steady/content -even when the situation is really dry and horrible.

I dealt with this transit by listening to music that would soothe me. I also napped a lot and on some days, had myself a good cry.

The bigger problem is: i'm already going through all this! I'm already jobless, cryig everyday, afraid of the future, worried constantly, regretful of everything i've done. (Thank, Chiron transiting the asc)

What could Saturn square moon, asc, Mercury conjunct the MC bring?

It sounds like it can only get better! so I imagine it will bring good things in your case like having you set more solid foundations so these emotions you are feeling will be a thing of the past and you will after the end of transit be in a more secure position.

Hang in there the sun always comes out after the storm, the sun will shine again. For example, Saturn conjunct MC will bring you a job! and the start of your career could be triggered by that transit.

The square to the moon and ascendant I think will lead to you cutting a lot of ties you have outgrown and teach you to set emotional boundaries with people, you will re-evaluate your relationships and feelings for people and work on your insecurities and self-worth I would think.

Square mercury communication issues, perhaps you will perfect your communication skills but what does mercury rule in your chart?

Yes.

I am not sure what happened exactly because I did take measures to take care of myself financially. And when they dried up, there was this deep melancholic angst.

Save for the two friends who stayed visible in my life during that period,I would have felt so ALONE.

Just awful
