His 8H is in Pisces, ruled by Neptune in Leo. Neptune is at home in the 12H. The moon is also sextiling it. Your grandpa probably believed that nurturing the soul will also nurture the body.

Neptune is also the apex of a t-square. A mars-neptune hard aspect traditionally points to substance/alcohol addiction but at the same time, it could also point to being creative, a visionary. Jupiter aspecting neptune also kind of has the same effect. If he was the former, a transit/a significant person's planet in his 6th house (completing the grand cross) probably nudged him awake to change his ways. His experiences, either way brought 'soul' as ruler of the 8H.

He has Aquarius Uranus in the 6th, ruled by Saturn in Cancer, 11H. Was he always on the lookout for his health? He probably encouraged people around him to be conscious as well. Saturn ruling the 6H would probably bring discipline where health is concerned.

My grandpa was not an alcoholic per say, I never saw him drunk ever but he liked to drink his whisky regularly and yes at some point for health reasons he lowered significantly how much he drank.

As for been on the lookout for this health, he always worried about me and wanted me to eat more bc I was a terrible eater growing up, he wanted to make sure I was fed properly and ate enough. His diet was not super healthy but his philosophy and the philosophy of my other grandparents was to eat a well-rounded diet as in eat a little bit of everything; fiber, carbs, protein, veggies and fruits plus milk daily and some chocolate or dessert. Their lunch always included all of this lets say rice and beans, steak, salad and fruits after and some chocolate to give you an idea plus coffee and milk in the morning with toast let’s say.

Sadly I just realized that the chart I posted was his progressed chart, I was about to fall sleep last night when I posted his chart so messed up!

This is his real chart, take a look and tell me what you think, I don't know his TOB but suspect highly he is a Taurus riser:

I don't think she had any major illnesses except started to get dementia in her final couple of years.

Yeah, I do love working my brain. I think My Sagittarius mercury conjunct ascendant (ruler Jupiter in 9H Virgo) would point to that, for one. I'm still trying to make sense of my chart (birth time got switched, my chart did a 180-degree turn lol). I'm kind of having an identity crisis, as one member said.

6H ruler Cancer Venus in the 3H conjuncts Saturn. I think that while your gramps is health conscious in a way, he applies it not only to himself but also to the rest of his close relations. It kind of shows his philosophy not to neglect the body.

ETA: Looking at EmGem's granparent's chart, there's also a correlation between the 8th and the 12H. This time, it's the planets in them. The ruler of the 6H is also in the 12H. She must have been in a healthcare-related profession at some point in her life.

He always looked elegant, well dressed and clean, he took care of his appearance. He had this strong serious reserved presence but with a quiet childlike charm that you could feel brewing underneath all that. He was a very good host, I loved him so much....
